An improved photograph mount comprising a substratum member, a primary transparent film having a non-drying tacky pressuresensitive adhesive coatings on the outer face of the film and overlaying the substratum member, and a secondary transparent film covering and releasably adhering to the primary transparent film, whereby photographs can be preserved together with a sheet of paper on which any desired matters are noted down, the sheet being capable of inserting and transferring between the primary transparent film and the substratum member.

More particularly, the invention relates to an improved mount for preserving photographs and the like which is produced by covering both faces of a There has conventionally been used as photograph mounts an album which was made by filing together a plurality of pasteboards. Photographs have been preserved by applying a suitable adhesive to the back sides of the photographs and mounting the photographs on said pasteboards. It has, however, been markedly troublesome to mount photographs, depending on the quality of papers of photographs to be mounted and on the kind of adhesive employed.
Although the use of corner pieces has been attempted for fixing the corners of photograph, such use of corner pieces has also encountered various inconveniences such as the difficulty in the application of the corner pieces and in the positioning of photographs.
in the above noted conventional mount, however, the surfaces of the mounted photographs are directly exposed. The photographs can not therefore be prevented from damage, loss, contamination, and fading.
In order to obtain photograph mounts free from such drawbacks as mentioned above, the present inventor previously succeeded in producing a photograph mount comprising a pasteboard base member, tacky, non-drying pressure-sensitive adhesive coatings on both faces of said base member, and a transparent film overlaying both of said faces of the base member so as to be releasably adhered thereto by said adhesive coatings whereby photographs can be located and secured to each face of said base member under said transparent film. Refer to Tadao OHFUJI, US. Pat. No. 3,381,402.
During preservation of photographs and the like, however, the above-mentioned mount is inconvenient when users want to note or write any desired matters related to the photographs or to preserve, together with the photographs, the pieces of paper on which they are noted down. I
A primary object of the present invention is, therefore, to provide an improved photograph mount for preserving photographs, together with a sheet or piece of paper on which any desired matters are written down, or the negative films, and the like, the mount comprising a substratum member, a primary transparent film having non-drying tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive coatings on one side of the film and overlaying the substratum member, and a secondary transparent film covering and releasably adhearing to the primary transparent film.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved photograph mount wherein the substratum member itself can be transfered as desired, and any desired matters may be noted.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved photograph mount wherein a colored sheet of paper is used as a substratum member, for clas-' 2 sifying photographs or attracting attention to the photographs.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide an improved photograph mount whereby photographs can be viewed through a secondary transparent film, and also the matters noted on the sheet or piece of paper through both a primary transparent film and a secondary transparent film.
Still further objects of the invention will become apparent as this specification proceeds.
Accordingto the photograph mount of the present invention, photographs and the like can be easily mounted at any desiredposition and arranged at ones own will, without applying any adhesive to the back sides of the photographs nor using any corner pieces for fixing the photographs, because a non-drying tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive is employed. Further, the photographs can be preserved without being damaged and contaminated, because the secondary transparent film covers the surfaces of the photographs.
ln the improved photograph mount, the substratum and the primary transparent film may be partially fixed by bonding, fusion or physical fixation by making holes through them, for example. The primary transparent film may be closed at the lower ends thereof by bonding or fusion so as to make it to be in the form of a bag.
As the substratum member to be used with the present invention, there are selected pasteboard, artificial paper such as resinated paper, laminate comprising paper and/or metallic foil, and the like.
Referring to the primary and secondary transparent films to be used with the present invention, films of the same or similar modulus of elasticity can be selected. Wrinkles, caused by the difference in elasticity can be prevented, whereby the photographs can be appreciated pleasantly.
As the primary and secondary transparent films, there can be selectively used flexible transparent films such as synthetic resin film made of polyvinyl chloride, teflon, polyester, polyethylene, polycarbonate, polypropylene, cellophane, etc. They may be colored or clear.
The non-drying tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive to be used with the present invention'is paste which can be easily bonded by applying pressureto it with fingers or hand(s) without heating nor using a solvent, and
which can maintain its adhesiveness at ambient temper-' ature for a long period of time. Such pressure-sensitive adhesive is characterized, as its merit, by the fact that it can easily be bonded to anything and also easily peeled off. Many pressure-sensitive adhesives are pro duced andare on the market. There can be selectively employed in the present invention any pressure sensitive adhesive including oily or aqueous ones. There is used in the present invention, for example, a non-drying tacky pressure-sensitiveadhesive which is prepared by dissolving a synthetic rubber or natural rubber, rosin, sulfur, filler, etc. in a solvent such as benzene or toluene, etc. It should be noted that such adhesive is intended solely for purposes of illustration rather than limitation.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive may also be applied to the substratum member all over uniformly or in continuous or discontinuous lines, or in spot-like, or in some other form.
Improved photograph mounts according to the present invention are illustrated in the attached drawings.
In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is an oblique view of a mount, in which the pressure-sensitive adhesive 3 is applied to the surface of the primary transparent film 2. The secondary transparent film 4 covers the pressure-sensitive adhesive coatings, the film 4 being shown as partially peeled off for illustration. The photograph 5 is mounted on the adhesivecoating and covered by the secondary transparent film 4, and a piece of paper 6 on which desired or necessary matters are noted is inserted between the substratum member 1 and the primary transparent film 2.
FIG. 2 is a magnified cross-sectional view of the mount of FIG. 1, showing an embodiment wherein the secondary transparent film 4 is peeled off.
FIG. 3 is a plane view showing an embodiment in which photograph is mounted on the adhesive coatings and covered with the secondary transparent film 4, and the film 4 is partially peeled off for illustration.
FIG. 4 is also a plane view showing an embodiment in which the substratum 1 on which the desired matters are noted down is inserted into the baglike primary transparent film, and the secondary transparent film 4 is partially peeled off.
FIG. 5 is a plane view showing a combination of the embodiments of FIGS. 3 and 4 wherein the photograph 15 is appreciated through a secondary transparent film, and the substratum l' on which the desired matters are noted down is appreciated at the same time through both a primary transparent film and a secondary transparent film.
One embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1. Photograph 5 may be first mounted on the photograph mount by peeling off the secondary transparent film 4, placing the back side of the photograph 5 at any suitable position on the surface of the adhesive coating of the primary transparent film 2, overlapping the film 4 again on the adhesive coating, and then lightly pressing the secondary transparent film 4.
Any desired matters are noted down on a sheet of paper. Such noted sheet is inserted between the primary transparent film 2 and the substratum I. The photograph 5 and the noted sheet 6 are appreciated simultaneously, as shown in FIG. 1.
Another embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5. Photograph 15 may be mounted on the photograph mount, as illustrated in the above.
Substratum member 1 is drawn from the baglike primary transparent film 2, and any desired matters are noted down on the substratum member 1. The noted substratum member 1 is again inserted into the baglike primary transparent film 2. The photograph 15 and the noted substratum member 1 are appreciated simultaneously, as shown in FIG. 5.
It is possible to produce an album by filing together a plurality of the improved photograph mounts of the present invention. The mount is very useful because related matters or any desired matters can be noted on the substratum itself in preserving photographs, and pieces of papers or the likes on which related matters are noted down can be preserved together with the photographs.
What is claimed is:
1. An improved photograph mount comprising a substratum member, a primary transparent film overlaying both sides of said substratum member, a non-drying tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive coating on the face of the film opposite said substratum member and a secondary transparent film covering and releasably adhereing to the primary transparent film said substratum member being operatively retained in positione whereby photographs can be located at, changed to and arranged to any desired positions on the primary transparent film under the secondary film, together with sheets of paper on which any desired matters are noted down, the sheet being capable of being inserted and removed from between the primary transparent film and the substratum member.
2. An improved photograph mount according to claim 1 wherein said primary transparent film is used in a form of bag.
3. An improved photograph mount according to claim I wherein said substratum member is a sheet of paper on which any desired matters can be noted down.
4. An improved photograph mount according to claim 1 wherein said substratum member is a colored one.

Claims (4)

1. An improved photograph mount comprising a substratum member, a primary transparent film overlaying both sides of said substratum member, a non-drying tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive coating on the face of the film opposite said substratum member and a secondary transparent film covering and releasably adhereing to the primary transparent film said substratum member being operatively retained in positione whereby photographs can be located at, changed to and arranged to any desired positions on the primary transparent film under the secondary film, together with sheets of paper on which any desired matters are noted down, the sheet being capable of being inserted and removed from between the primary transparent film and the substratum member.
2. An improved photograph mount according to claim 1 wherein said primary transparent film is used in a form of bag.
3. An improved photograph mount according to claim 1 wherein said substratum member is a sheet of paper on which any desired matters can be noted down.
4. An improved photograph mount according to claim 1 wherein said substratum member is a colored one.
