SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent. No. 381,560, dated April 24, 1888.

To ail whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JACOB KRUMSOHEID, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a. new and use- In Fig. l, A A and O 0 represent the end pieces, which are riveted at D D, respectively, to each other, as shown. The folding pieces B B are joined at the ends and also in the middle, so that theparts A A, C G, and BBform together the device known as lazytongs. The upright pieces E E form the pointers. These are riveted at their lower ends,as shown, by the same rivets that serve to connect the lower ends of the folding parts B B, A, and C. The upper ends of the uprights are each made with a slot, M M, in which the rivets H H slide. Ths rivets H H are each provided with a washer, so as to retain the uprights in place and still to allow them to slide. One of the uprights is provided with a thumb screw, K P, and a pointer, N, (see Figs. 1 and 2,) and on the upright to which the thumb screw and pointer are appended I have a graduation, L, so that the uprights E E E may be placed at any desired distance apart and there securely held.

This device may be used by tailors, carpenters, machinists, &e., for a great many uses.

I claim The combination of the lazy-tongs A AB B C O with the uprights E E, thumb-screw K P, and pointer N, all operating together, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
