FIG. 6
FIG. 8
l G'O'LFBALL PICKUP DEVICE i FIELD OF- THE INVENTION My invention is directed toward a device .which enables a golfer or another .to pick up a golfball lyingon the. ground without bendng or 'stooping.
' SUMMARY Spring 12 has three turns and has an inner diameter large enough to accommodate a golf ball 14. The axis of the spring is disposed at right angles .to the handle.
A spring-clip hastwo vertical arms l6whic'h are.
spaced apart and-essentially parallel-Each arm has two spaced U type clips 18 or ring shaped loops which engage the top and adjacent loops respectively of the spring. v v
The top ends .of each of the arms 16 are secured by corresponding horizontal extensions '22 to a horizontal ring 24 disposed inwardly toward the axis of the spring towards the axis of thespring'to engage and hold the ballin the spring once the ball is disposed in the spring.
Thus theuser grasps thehandle and dropsthe spring around'the ball. The clip means holds the ball in position. Th'e user then moves the handle untilthe spring is disposed in hand.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS hand whereby the ballcan'be removed by In the drawings: FIG. 1 is a perspective'of my invention in use; FIG. 2 is a detail thereof;
FIG. 3 is a top plan of one spring clip used in my invention; I
FIG. 4 is a front elevation of the clip of FIG. 3; FIG. '5 is'a side elevation of the clip of FIG. 3; FIG. 6 is a top plan of another clip used in my inventron;
EMBODIMENTS and positioned above and intermediate thevertical arms. I
When the ball is disposed in the spring, the ring 24 snaps onto the ball: and holds it in position for use as previously described.
While Ihave described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described'this invention, what is asserted as new is:
' comprising:
Referrin'g'now to FIGS. 1'-8,- an elongated handle 10 Y which can be telescopically collapsible receives in a bore in one end an extended end of coil spring 12. g 5
. v 35- FIG. 7 is a front elevation of the clip of FIG. 6; and
l. A device which can be used to pick up a golf ball an elongated handle; a coil spring having an .internal diameter large enough to receive a golf ball, said spring being secured to the handle in 'such'manner, that the axis of the spring'extends atright angles to the direction of elongation of the handle; and clip means securedto the periphery of the spring and having an extension whichis flexible and extends inwardly towards the axis of' the spring to engage and hold said ball in the spring once the. ball is disposed in the spring; wherein said means engages an outermost loop'of the spring and a loop next to the outer loop; and wherein said extension includes a ring lying in a plane parallel to the plane of the outermost loop. 2. The device of claim 1 wherein said means engages each of said loops in two position and said ring is secured to the body of the means by two oppositely disposed arms.

Claims (2)

1. A device which can be used to pick up a golf ball comprising: AN ELONGATED HANDLE; A COIL SPRING HAVING AN INTERNAL DIAMETER LARGE ENOUGH TO RECEIVE A GOLF BALL, SAID SPRING BEING SECURED TO THE HANDLE IN SUCH MANNER THAT THE AXIS OF THE SPRING EXTENDS AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE DIRECTION OF ELONGATION OF THE HANDLE; AND CLIP MEANS SECURED TO THE PERIPHERY OF THE SPRING AND HAVING AN EXTENSION WHICH IS FLEXIBLE AND EXTENDS INWARDLY TOWARDS THE AXIS OF THE SPRING TO ENGAGE AND HOLD SAID BALL IN THE SPRING ONCE THE BALL IS DISPOSED IN THE SPRING; WHEREIN SAID MEANS ENGAGES AN OUTERMOST LOOP OF THE SPRING AND A LOOP NEXT TO THE OUTER LOOP; AND WHEREIN SAID EXTENSION INCLUDES A RING LYING IN A PLANE PARALLEL TO THE PLANE OF THE OUTERMOST LOOP.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein said means engages each of said loops in two position and said ring is secured to the body of the means by two oppositely disposed arms.
