Abstract

This invention basically comprises a flexible resilient suspension element suspending in limited rotational relationship, a rigid support tube or rod, having adjustably secured thereto a plurality of anchor flutes. The invention further embraces a plurality of rings for manually tossing at the resiliently suspended anchor flutes. The supporting rod or tube and the plurality of anchor flutes may be casted as a single unit, or the anchor flutes may be casted as a single unit, but it is desired for packaging to have each of the units separate.

2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures 1 SUSPENDED QUOIT TARGET An object of this invention is to provide a game of skill of an improved quoit game, in which the anchor flutes are movable in several directions upon contact with the tossing rings.

Another object of this invention is to provide a plurality of angular disposed anchor flutes, flexibly and resiliently suspended and mounted for limited rotation in oscillating directions.

A further object of this invention is to provide a devise of the class described which will be simple and economical in construction, and convenient and efficient in packaging, shipping and storage, and easily assemblied for use.

The foregoing and other objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the following specification, taken in conjunction with the drawings, forming a part thereof, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the improved Quoit Game of this invention.

FIG. 2 is an enlarged side elevation of the improved Quoit Game of this invention;

FIG. 3 is a plan view the support rod and radially extending anchor flutes of the improve Quoit Game of this invention; and,

FIG. 4 is a fragmentary plan view of the supporting tube or rod, radially extending anchor flutes, and clamping ring.

Referring to the drawings, wherein like members are given the same reference numeral, a flexible suspending cord 10, which is preferably a resilient member, such as elastic cord or helical spring, is provided for attachment to an overhead beam, support, or other attaching member. This flexible support member 10, has a link 11 attached to the free terminal end thereof which has provided therein a resilient coil 12. The connecting link 11 has its lower end formed in a hook to engage the bail 13 carried by a central support tube or rod 14. The central rod or tube 14 is the core ofa nest of anchor flutes 15, forming the body of the target member of this invention. In order to set the target at a predetermined height from the floor, ground or other tossing base, the center support tube or rod 14 has the anchor flutes 15 adjustably secured thereto by means of a clamp band 16.

A plurality retaining clamp band 16 are placed on the shank 18 of the anchor flutes 15, which terminates in a bend or arcuate terminal end 17. The anchor flutes 15 are positioned equi-angular around the support tube or rod 14, and the

terminal ends

19 and 23 of the anchor flutes are positioned equi-distance from each other. The clamping band 16 is provided with the conventional nut 20 and clamping screw 21 to tighten and secure the clamping band, clamping the anchor flutes 15 to the support tube or rod 14, and released for removal.

A plurality of tossing rings 22, perferably of different colors, are provided for the players. These tossing rings 22 may be of any suitable material, but preferably are of polypropylene.

The anchor flute l5 and support rod or tube 14 may be prepared of any suitable material, such as aluminum tubing, or plastic such as polypropylene.

The target, comprised of the support tube or rod 14 and anchor flutes 15 may be cast as a integral unit, or the plurality of anchor flutes 15 may be cast as a single unit. For the convenience of' manufacturing, shipping and storage, it is preferred that the units be cast separately or otherwise formed separately, and secured by the clamp band 16. v

The terminal ends of the anchor flutes 15 are preferably provided with colored spheres l9 and 23, with the anchor flute 15 behind the target having a higher point evaluation for playing the game. The toss rings 22, are also preferred to be of different colors, corresponding to the colors of the terminal ends of the anchor flutes, to assist in difficulty of scoring. The matched color ring on the corresponding colored anchor flute having a higher valuation for scoring than a ring on a different or contrasting color of anchor flute.

On contact of one of the tossing rings 22, with a portion of the target, the rod or tube 14 or the anchor flutes 15, the target will reciprocate up and down while at the same time oscillating by rotating first in one direction and then the other, creating a target moving in many directions and creating a more difficult target. By further adjustment of the height of each individual anchor flute 15 with respect to the others, the target area can also be rendered more difflcult by having the terminal ends 19 and 23 in different planes.

Many adjustments can be made to render the game more difflcult if desired.

As illustrated however the game is sufficiently difficult, without departing from the enjoyment of the players.

What is claimed is:

l. A target for a quoit game comprising,

a flexible member adapted for suspension,

a spring member secured to said flexible member,

a support member removably secured to said spring member,

a plurality of anchor flutes removably secured rigidly to and extending radially from said support member,

and said anchor flutes being longitudinally adjustable with respect to said support member.

2. A target for a quoit game comprising,

a flexible member adapted for suspension,

a spring member secured to said flexible member,

a support member removably secured to said spring member,

and said anchor flutes being releasably clamped to said support member.

Claims

1. A target for a quoit game comprising, a flexible member adapted for suspension, a spring member secured to said flexible member, a support member removably secured to said spring member, a plurality of anchor flutes removably secured rigidly to and extending radially from said support member, and said anchor flutes being longitudinally adjustable with respect to said support member.

2. A target for a quoit game comprising, a flexible member adapted for suspension, a spring member secured to said flexible member, a support member removably secured to said spring member, a plurality of anchor flutes removably secured rigidly to and extending radially from said support member, and said anchor flutes being releasably clamped to said support member.
