A principal object of this invention is to provide a device attachable to a cement mixer, having a sand pumping connection and unloading hatches, thereby converting the cement mixer to a sand pumping truck, such conversion is suited to use at car washes, sand pits and storm drains. The conversion kit operates with a vacuum pump for pumping sand up into the tank from which the sand is then pumped out of one or more hatches.
Other objects of this invention are to provide a kit for converting a cement mixer to a sand pumping truck which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
The FIGURE shows a conversion kit comprising a plate 11 attachable to a cement mixer, not shown, by bolts 12.
Plate 11 has a centrally disposed flange and seal 13 for connection to a stationary core 14, shown in section. Core 14 connects to a sand pump, not shown, that delivers sand up through flange 13 and into the tank.
Plate 11 is fitted with a pair of hatch doors 15 each door 15 extends out on a pair of arms 16 to a pair of bearings 17. A handle 18 also serves to seal doors 15 by engagement with a latch 19. A spring 20 on door 15 is for quick wide opening when handle 18 is moved clear of latch 19.
Depth indication of tank fill is available at one or more windows 21.
For unloading sand the mixer is rotated degrees from the position seen in the FIGURE and a batch is then opened. This kit also simplifies getting wet sand out of the tank without resort to a high pressure hose.
What I now claim is:
1. A kit for connecting a cement mixer to a sand pumper comprising a plate attachable to said cement mixer upon which are mounted a sand pump connecting flange and seal, a pair of diametrically opposed hatch doors secured by a latching handle, said doors pivoted on hinges and provided with springs which open said doors to a wide position when released at said latches, said plate having one or more level inspection windows.
