Abstract

A light weight exhibit booth that is capable of a great variety of configurations with options, such as display shelves and advertising headers. The entire construction can be assembled and disassembled in a short period of time without the use of tools. The panels are bendable to various radii and covered with impervious paper. The booth can be easily transported and reused.

INVENTORS IAN A. TESRR MARK D. RoBBmS EXHIBIT BOOTH CONSTRUCTION AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLY THEREOF The present invention relates to an exhibit booth construction and method of rapid assembly and disassembly thereof.
An object of the present invention is to provide a light weight inexpensive exhibit booth construction and method of assembly thereof.
A further object of the present invention is to provide panels of polystyrene foam having coverings of heavy paper which is strong and'durable.
Another object of the present invention is to provide interconnected panels for a display booth which are slotted in order to selectively bend the panels for the desired configuration.
A further object of the present invention is to provide bent slotted panels which are interconnected by slotted cross-pieces having integral tabs.
Another object of the present invention is to provide braces on the end panel sections in order to further stabilize the exhibit booth construction.
Still another object of the present invention is a display booth arrangement that has provisions for the easy and rapid mounting of display shelves and/or headers for brand identification or advertising matter.
A further object of the present invention is to provide interchangeable, snap-together panels which offer flexibility of size and configuration.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an exhibit booth system which can be custom made to the user's particular needs.
The present invention will now be more fully describedwith reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of the exhibit booth structure constructed and assembled in the manner taughtby the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a rear perspective view of the structure showing the slotted cross-pieces with integral tabs for making the pylons rigid;
FIG. 3 is a partial perspective view showing the integral tabs and the receiving slots in the adjacent nylon;
FIG. 4 is a partial rear perspective view showing a connecting cross-piece separated from the structure,
FIG. 5 is a partial rear perspective view of a pylon end section, with the formed wire supporting brace detached therefrom;
FIG. 6 is a partial sectional view of the foam panels with slots cut therein illustrating the radius of the bend formed as a result of the slots;

In order to maintain the end pylons 12 in their V formation, wire braces 24 are shown in FIG. 5 which are pressed into the edges of the end pylons (FIG. '2).
If desired, as seen in FIG. 1, headers 26 may be dropped into slots 28 open at the top of the pylons 12. The headers may be used as signs for brand identification or advertising matter. In addition, a fluorescent strip lighting fixture (not shown) may be placed behind the header 26 in order to back light the header, and further illuminate the back panel below.
As seen in FIG. 1, display shelves 30 may optionally be inserted in the horizontal slots 32 of the pylons 12.
Referring now particularly to FIG. 6 in which a section of a panel 10 and a pylon 12 is shown, the panels are constituted of a polystyrene foam 34 which is covered on both sides with a heavy, impervious and durable paper 36. Although three slots 38 are shown in FIG. 6 located in the back side of the panels it is within the 1 scope of the present invention to provide two or even FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a center island display booth of star-shaped configuration formed by the interconnection of a multiplicity of panel sections; and

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS one slot therein in order to accomplish the desired resupporting.
FIGS. 7 and 8 show two different arrangements of the present exhibit booth assembly. It should be apparent that a large variety of other configurations are possible within the scope of the present invention, such as corner booths, and flat front pylons interconnected by flat back panels.
The present exhibit system exhibit a multiplicity of light weight, interchangeable, snap-together panels, each of which are constructed of a foam filler laminated with an impervious paper cover. Because of the grooved construction, the panels may be bent into desired shapes, such as pylons. The display booth can be assembled and disassembled in a relatively short time and without the use of tools.
What is claimed is:
1. An exhibit booth construction comprising a plurality of panels each having a foamed core and an impervious paper covering at least one side thereof, at least one of said panels being flat and having integral tabs on opposite side edges thereof, at least two of said panels being provided with grooves in said core whereby said panels are bent into shapes of pylons, said pylons positioned on opposite sides of said flat panel and having slots which are adapted to receive the adjacent tabs of said flatpanel, and at least one cross-piece provided with spaced open-ended slots in the bottom edge of the cross-piece, one of said pylons being provided with double-width slots for receiving the open-end slots of said cross-piece together with adjacent integral tabs to thereby interconnect and structurally support the sides of said pylon thereby forming a self-supporting exhibit booth.
2. An exhibit booth construction as claimed in claim 1 wherein said pylons are provided with horizontal slots, and a shelf located in a horizontal plane and removably inserted in said horizontal slots.

Claims (2)

1. An exhibit booth construction comprising a plurality of panels each having a foamed core and an impervious paper covering at least one side thereof, at least one of said panels being flat and having integral tabs on opposite side edges thereof, at least two of said panels being provided with grooves in said core whereby said panels are bent into shapes of pylons, said pylons positioned on opposite sides of said flat panel and having slots which are adapted to receive the adjacent tabs of said flat panel, and at least one cross-piece provided with spaced openended slots in the bottom edge of the cross-piece, one of said pylons being provided with double-width slots for receiving the open-end slots of said cross-piece together with adjacent integral tabs to thereby interconnect and structurally support the sides of said pylon thereby forming a self-supporting exhibit booth.
2. An exhibit booth construction as claimed in claim 1 wherein said pylons are provided with horizontal slots, and a shelf located in a horizontal plane and removably inserted in said horizontal slots.
