To this end, a plurality of parallel thin sickle shaped blades are disposed in parallel spaced relationship with aligned inner and outer edges and are interconnected by first means extending at right angles thereto. An elongated handle extends at right angles to the first means. One end of the handle is disposed adjacent the inner aligned surfaces of the blades. Second means interconnects this adjacent end of the handle to the first means.
The blades can be shaped to each have a rounded endand an opposite pointed end and to have a portion of the inner edge formed into a cutting edge.
The user can then operate the tool, without bending, from a standing position with the use of the handle. By suitable employment of the rounded ends, the pionted ends and the cutting edge the tool can be used as a rake, as a thinner of grass, as a grass cutter and other allied uses.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a perspective of my tool;
FIG. 2 is a side elevation of a blade used in my tool;
FIG. 3 is a detail of a portion of the structure of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 4 is a detail exploded perspective of another portion of the structure of FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS 1-4, I provide a plurality of thin parallel spaced sickle shaped metal blades having aligned outer and inner edges. Each blade has a pointed end 12 and an opposite rounded end 14. Each blade also has a centrally disposed square shaped hole 16 with a portion of the inner edge between this hold and the pointed end honed into a cutting edge 18.
Hollow elongated spacers 20, square shaped in cross section, are disposed between the holes of adjacent blades. A square shaped elongated bar 22 extends through all spacers and holes with exposed opposite rounded threaded ends engaged by lock nuts 24 to hold the structure rigidly together.
An elongated handle 26 extending at right angles to bar 22 has one end inserted into sleeve 28. The other end of the sleeve is biforcated with arms 30 disposed about two transversely spaced spacers 20 adjacent op posite ends of the bar whereby the handle is joined rigidly with the remainder of the structure. The resultant tool can then be used as previously described.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is:
l. A gardening tool comprising:
a plurality of parallel spaced sickle shaped blades each having aligned inner and outer edges and a central square hole, the inner edge of each blade adjacent one selected end having a cutting edge, and one selected blade end is pointed and the opposite end is rounded;
a square bar extending at right angles to said blades and passing through all of said central square holes to form a rigid structure with said blades;
square spacers on said bar between said blades;
an elongated handle extending at right angles to said square bar; and
a fork extending between one end of the handle and the inner edges of the blades, said fork being secured to said handle end and to said bar.
