  • the present invention relates to an apparatus for attaching back-hoe and more in particular this invention relates to an apparatus for attaching back-hoe to so called vehicles provided with back-hoe such as tractor shovel or bulldozer in such a manner that said back-hoe can be slid and can be removed to the effect that side groove digging can be carried out.
  • back-hoe has the slide bed B for horizontally moving the digging portion A in the lateral direction as is shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, and the slide bed B is fixed on the mount adopter D provided on the rear portion of the vehicle C, and when the digging portion A is horizontally moved by using said slide bed B as the guide, groove digging can be carried out on the side of the vehicle C in most cases.
  • the width 1 is made smaller than the width of the vehicle, it is possible to transport the vehicle C provided with back-hoe without going beyond the loading limitation, but in this case, the sliding span of backhoe in the horizontal direction is reduced, and the desired side groove digging cannot be carried out satisfactorily.
  • slide bed B and mount adopter D are connected to each other with pin E through brackets 8,, D, unitedly provided on said slide bed B and said mount adopter D, or as is shown in FIG. 4, the bracket D unitedly provided on the mount adopter D is bound onto the slide bed B with the bolt F.
  • the drawbacks in the conventional attachment of the back-hoe can be all removed, and the first object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for attaching backhoe in such a manner that the slide bed provided on the end of the back-hoe can be perpendicularly engaged against the mount adopter as the body to which backhoe is attached so that said back-hoe can be slid in lateral direction optionally.
  • the second object of the present invention is to carry out the operation for removing back-hoe from the mount adopter and to carry out the back-hoe sliding adjustment more smoothly and more easily than the prior art by providing the hook form engaging portion on the slide bed as the means for suspending and engaging said slide bed on the mount adopter, providing the receiver portion for engaging said hook form engaging portion, suspend-engaging said hook form engaging portion on said receiver portion, to slide said slide bed in the lateral direction as far as the predetermined position, thereafter disconnectably fixing said slide bed on the mount adopter.
  • the third object of the present invention is to transport the vehicle with back-hoe without going beyond the loading limitation and to smoothly carry out the side groove digging on the side of the vehicle while the sufficient amount of moment of the back-hoe is made in the lateral direction, even if said slide bed be smaller than the width of the vehicle as an example of a body to which back-hoe is attached, by employing the back-hoe attaching method wherein the hookform engaging portion of the slide bed is engaged onto the receiver portion of the mount adopter in such a manner that said back-hoe can be optionally slid to be adjusted as described above.

  • The'back-hoe in which the apparatus of the present invention is applied has the main 'boom 3 whose end portion is connected to the swing bracket 2 to be provided on the tractor shovel C; stick boom 4 whose end portion is supported on the free end portion of said main boom 3 in such a manner that said stick boom 4 can be freely moved up and down, and the bucket 6 supported on the free end portion of said stick boom 4 through link mechanism 5 and said main boom 3 can be moved up and down by the shrinking operation of the boom cylinder mechanism 7 provided on the main boom 3 and the main bracket 2, and the stick boom 4 is moved up and down by the shrinking movement ofthe stick boom cylinder 8 mutually provided on the stick boom 4 and the main boom 3, and the bucket 6 is moved by the shrinking movement of the bucket cylinder 9 mutually provided on the stick boom 4 and the link mechanism 5.
  • the above described swing bracket 2 is know in the prior art to be able to move horizontally in the lateral direction with respect to the slide bed 10.
  • suspension engaging member 14 and on the front surface of the lower lateral mounting member 13 is rigidly mounted a tightening receiving member 16.
  • the engaging member 14 in this embodiment is a metal wire whose cross section is in the form of invariable reversal groove, and the receiving member 16 for fixing the same has the angular form cross section with flange 17 on the lower fringe portion, and the stage portion 18 is formed on the internal corner of the end portion of said flange 17.
  • a plural number of cut grooves 19 for connecting or disconnecting the binding members with appropriate intervals between said grooves are provided in advance from the end portion of said flange 17.
  • the binding tool 20 to be inserted into said out grooves 19 of the receiving member 16 for binding is in the form of a bolt composed of wider head member 21 whose front view is rectangular, and spiral rod 22 unitedly projected almost in the center of said head member 21, and the binding tool 20 has the nut 23 capable of freely being disconnected from or connected to the spiral rod 22.
  • the slide bed of the above mentioned structure is mounted on the rear portion of the tractor shovel C to a pair of right and left mount adaptors D mounted by appropriate means such as bolts, and at the rear end of the mount adaptors D is fixed an engaging plate 25 by bolts 32 in such a manner that the engaging plate 25 has a height contacting with the suspension engaging member 14 and tightening receiving member 16 of the slide bed 10, and is horizontally movable in the lateral direction with respect to the slide bed 10.
  • At the upper and lower edge portion of the engaging plate 25 are formed aslant surfaces 26 and 27 contacting on the aslant surface of the binding tool 20 with the internal surface of the hook form engaging portion; of the engaging member 14 for suspension.
  • the back-hoe 1 is erected with the bucket 6 and the Y slide bed 10 by appropriately bending the main boom 3 and the stick boom 4 downwards, and in this state the shrinking legs 11 and the respective cylinders 7, 8 and 9 are connected to said oil pressure circuit of the tractor shovel C.
  • the slide bed 10 is raised by shrinking the respective shrinking legs 11 and the operations of the shrinking legs 11 are stopped when the hook form engaging portion 15 is raised up to the most appropriate position for attaching the back-hoe 1.
  • the upper edge of the engaging plate 250 is contacted against the engaging member 14 of the slide bed 10, at the lower portion of the hook form engaging portion 15, and the lower edge of the engaging plate 25 is contacted against the staged portion 18 of the binding receiving member 16.
  • the nut 23 is engaged against the spiral rod 22 of the binding tool 20, and by binding the same the above mentioned slide bed 10'and the mount adopter D can be bound to attach the back-hoe 1 to the rear portion of the tractor shovel C.
  • the slide bed 10 is slide-adjusted, to change the place of operation by the back-hoe 1, and at the same time while the binding tool 20 is being removed, the shrinking legs 11 on both sides of the slide bed 10 are expanded to raise the slide bed 10 so that the engaging member 14 is removed from the upper engaging plate 25a of the mount D, and therefore when the tractor shovel C is driven forwards, the back-hoe 1 can be removed from said tractor shovel C.
  • the upper engaging support plate 25a and the lower engaging supporter plate 25b can be separated or united in the above mentioned embodiment, and the shrinking legs 11 on both sides of the slide bed 10 are not restricted to the oil pressure cylinders, but they can be of screw rod structure.
  • the slide bed is adapted to slide in the lateral direction relative to the mount adaptor fixedly secured to the rear portion of a vehicle, which in combination with the movement of the digging portion slidably fitted to the slide bed enables the span of movement of the digging portion to be made sufficiently large without enlarging the lateral width of the slide bed. Therefore, the ditching operation of the vehicle can be carried out smoothly and in a wide range.
  • the present invention as mentioned above, it is unnecessary to make the lateral width of the slide bed larger than that of the vehicle. Therefore, it is possible to transport the vehicle with the back-hoe mounted thereon.
  • the slide bed can be slidably moved to a desired position along the engaging plate with the downwardly directed hook form of the engaging member being engaged with the upper edge of the engaging plate which is fixedly secured to the rear portion of the mount adaptor. Therefore the position of the slide bed relative to the mount adaptor can be adjusted very easily.
  • the lower end portion of the lower engaging plate is fixedly secured to the slide bed by means of the binding tool inserted through one of the grooves on the lower end portion of the receiving member for binding the front lower portion of the slide bed to the engaging plate, and, therefore, the slide bed can be secured to the engaging plate very easily.
  • a method for attaching a back-hoe comprising:
  • said method including sliding said slide bed along said engaging plate between said hook-shaped mernber and said receiving member; and securing a binding tool in one of said grooves so as to bind said slide bed to said engaging plate in one of said predetermined positions from which said back-hoe is operable.
  • a method for attaching a back-hoe according to claim 2 wherein a binding tool having a screw portion is disposed in said groove and extends through the opposite side of said receiving member, said binding tool also having a mating surface corresponding to a back surface portion of said engaging plate,
  • saidmethod including binding said engaging plate against said slide bed by tightening a nut on said screw portion.
