Abstract

A game comprising a game board having a marginal edge extending upwardly and forming a marginal border around the sides. A platform on the bottom of said enclosure supports bowling pins. A post removably supported on one side of said enclosure has a part extending upward and over the platform. A tapered upwardly angled boom is supported on said post. A ring is supported on the boom and slidably down said boom so that a ball supported on a string tied to said ring will swing toward the bowling pins and then down onto said floor behind said platform after it has been swung past the platform.

Lovercheck ABSTRACT A game comprising a game board having a marginal edge extending upwardly and forming a marginal border around the sides. A platform on the bottom of said enclosure supports bowling pins. A post removably supported on one side of said enclosure has a part extending upward and over the platform. A
-. tapered upwardly angled boom is supported on said post. A ring is supported on the boom and slidably down said boom so that a ball supported on a string tied to said ring will swing toward the bowling pins and then down onto said floor behind said platform after it has been swung past the platform.
1 Claim, 3 Drawing Figures TETHERED BALL BOWLING GAME OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide an improved game board.
Another object of the invention is to provide a game board which is simple in construction, economical to manufacture, and simple and efficient to use.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a game board having a boom and a post that may be dismantled for shipment and storage.
With the above and other objects in view, the present invention consists of the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that changes may be made in the form, size, proportions, and minor details of construction without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is an isometric view of the game according to the invention.
FIG. 2 is a view of the post.
FIG. 3 is a view of the boom.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The game board shown is generally made up of three parts; the container 10, the post 16, and the boom 20. The container has a bottom surface 19 integrally fixed to the marginal edge walls 11 which extend entirely around the bottom surface and form an enclosure and an open-top container which receives the pins when they have fallen down, as shown. A boss 13 is integrally fixed to the rear part of the wall and it is reinforced by a gusset 23. The post is removably received in a hole in said boss. A key is formed integrally on the opening 1 and the key 45 extends into the space between the flanges 28 and 29 of post 16.
A platform 26 is integrally attached to the bottom 19 and extends upwardly a slight distance. The platform is triangular in shape and the pins 30 may be set up on it.
The boom 20 is I-shaped in cross section and tapered as shown in FIG. 3 and has a generally flat part which inclines slightly rearwardly and downwardly to a more steeply inclined part 32, the rear end of which attaches to the horizontal part 33 which is non-rotatablyand detachably received in the opening 17 in the post 16. A hook 21 is formed on the front of the boom 20 to prevent the ring 32 from coming off during play of the game. The ring 32 slides over the boom 20 and has a string 24 attached to it and a ball 25 is attached to the lower end of the string. Thus, when the pins are standing on the platform and with the ring starting in position 40 shown in phantom line in FIG. 1, the ball may be released. It will strike the pins and knock some of them down and it will swing to a position behind the triangular platform 26 where it will lie and will not return.
FIG. 1 shows in full line the position of the ring where it is adjacent post 16.
The foregoing specification sets forth the invention in its preferred practical forms but the structure shown is capable of modification within a range of equivalents without departin from the invention which is to be understood 1S broa y novel as IS commensurate with the appended claims.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A game comprising a Hat bottom surface,
a triangular platform extending upwardly from said bottom surface for supporting bowling pins,
a marginal edge extending upwardly from the periphery of said bottom surface to a height slightly above the height of said platform,
a boss in the rear of said bottom surface attached to said marginal edge, said boss having a vertical hole therein,
a post having a cross sectional dimension of a size and shape to be non-rotatably and detachably received in said hole,
said platform being spaced forwardly of said boss and defining a space between said marginal edge and said platform to receive some of the pins when they are knocked from said platform,
' a boom having an I-shaped cross section which tapers from a maximum dimension at one end to a minimum dimension at the other end,
said post having in the upper end thereof an opening of a size and shape to non-rotatably and detachably receive said one end of said boom,
said boom having a first horizontal part at said one end and which first part is receivable in said post opening,
a second part extending upwardly at a relatively steep angle from said first part, and athird part extending upwardly from said second part at a relatively lesser angle,
said third part extending to said other end of said boom, said other end of said boom terminating in an upwardly curved hook,
a ring adapted to be assembled over said hook and to be retained by said hook on said boom during play of the game,
a string attached at one end to said ring,
a ball attached to the other end of said string,
said ring being of a size and shape to slide rearward on said boom from adjacent said hook and down said upwardly angled third and second parts toward said post when said ball is released by a player to swing toward pins on said platform,
the relative length of said string and the height of said angled parts above the bottom surface being such that said ring will stop its rearward sliding movement in a final position adjacent said post and with said ball in engagement with said bottom surface behind said platform.

Claims (1)

1. A game comprising a flat bottom surface, a triangular platform extending upwardly from said bottom surface for supporting bowling pins, a marginal edge extending upwardly from the periphery of said bottom surface to a height slightly above the height of said platform, a boss in the rear of said bottom surface attached to said marginal edge, said boss having a vertical hole therein, a post having a cross sectional dimension of a size and shape to be non-rotatably and detachably received in said hole, said platform being spaced forwardly of said boss and defining a space between said marginal edge and said platform to receive some of the pins when they are knocked from said platform, a boom having an I-shaped cross section which tapers from a maximum dimension at one end to a minimum dimension at the other end, said post having in the upper end thereof an opening of a size and shape to non-rotatably and detachably receive said one end of said boom, said boom having a first horizontal part at said one end and which first part is receivable in said post opening, a second part extending upwardly at a relatively steep angle from said first part, and a third part extending upwardly from said second part at a relatively lesser angle, said third part extending to said other end of said boom, said other end of said boom terminating in an upwardly curved hook, a ring adapted to be assembled over said hook and to be retained by said hook on said boom during play of the game, a string attached at one end to said ring, a ball attached to the other end of said string, said ring being of a size and shape to slide rearward on said boom from adjacent said hook and down said upwardly angled third and second parts toward said post when said ball is released by a player to swing toward pins on said platform, the relative length of said string and the height of said angled parts above the bottom surface being such that said ring will stop its rearward sliding movement in a final position adjacent said post and with said ball in engagement with said bottom surface behind said platform.
