Abstract
There is disclosed herein systems for storing and for transporting tanks for containing ladings, and the components thereof, including a tank having a first bolster disposed adjacent to one end thereof and a second bolster disposed adjacent to the other end thereof, a stationary support station including a first pair of spaced-apart support posts disposed on opposite sides of a longitudinal axis and a second pair of spaced-apart support posts disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis and spaced from the first pair of support posts, the first and second support posts carrying first and second support structure respectively, the first and second support structures being shiftable between receiving positions and supporting positions, the tank bolsters and the support posts and the support structures being arranged so that the tank bolsters can be positioned upon the support structures when the support structures are in the supporting positions thereof, a road vehicle including a frame provided with road wheels and having a first body bolster disposed adjacent to one end thereof and a second body bolster disposed adjacent to the other end thereof, the tank bolsters and the body bolsters being arranged so that the tank bolsters can be positioned respectively on the body bolsters, the support posts in each pair of support posts being spaced-apart a distance to receive the road vehicle therebetween with the tank mounted thereon when the support structures are in the receiving positions thereof, and lifting means on the frame for causing relative vertical movement between the tank and the support structures.

[57] ABSTRACT There is disclosed herein systems for storing and for transporting tanks for containing ladings, and the components thereof, including a tank having a first bolster disposed adjacent to one end thereof and a second bolster disposed adjacent to the other end thereof, a stationary support station including a first pair of spaced-apart support posts disposed on opposite sides of a longitudinal axis and a second pair of spaced-apart support posts disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis and spaced from the first pair of support posts, the first and second support posts carrying first and second support structure respectively, the first and second support structures being shiftable between receiving positions and supporting positions, the tank bolsters and the support posts and the support structures being arranged so that the tank bolsters can be positioned upon the support structures when the support structures are in the supporting positions thereof, a road vehicle including a frame provided with road wheels and having a first body bolster disposed adjacent to one end thereof and a second body bolster disposed adjacent to the other end thereof, the tank bolsters and the body bolsters being arranged so that the tank bolsters can be positioned respectively on the body bolsters, the support posts in each pair of support posts being spaced-apart a distance to receive the road vehicle therebetween with the tank mounted thereon when the support structures are in the receiving positions thereof, and lifting means on the frame for causing relative vertical movement between the tank and the support structures.

Claims (11)
1. A tank for use in a system for storing and for transporting ladings, wherein the system includes a stationary support station including first support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position and second support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position, and a road vehicle including a frame provided with road wheels and having a first body bolster for receiving one end of the tank and a second body bolster for receiving the other end of the tank and lifting means on the frame for causing relative vertical movement between said tank and the support structures; said tank comprising a body wall defining a closed chamber for containing lading and having means for introducing lading thereinto and means for removing lading therefrom, a first tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to one end thereof and a second tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to the other end thereof, said first tank bolster including a first support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the stationary support station and said second tank bolster including a second support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on said stationary support station, said first tank bolster further including a first chassis mount off-set longitudinally with respect to the associated first support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the road vehicle and said second tank bolster further including a second chassis mount off-set longitudinally with respect to the associated second support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the road vehicle, said first and second support plates being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second support structures respectively when the first and second support structures are in the supporting positions thereof for mounting said tank at the associated stationary support station, said first and second chassis mounts being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second body bolsters respectively for mounting said tank on the associated road vehicle, whereby the lifting means on the road vehicle may be operated to transfer said tank between the stationary support station and the road vehicle.
2. The tank as set forth in claim 1, wherein each of said support plates and each of said chasses mounts extend laterally across the associated tank bolster, said support plates being spaced longitudinally outwardly with respect to the associated chassis mounts.
3. The tank as set forth in claim 2, wherein said support plates are off-set vertically upwardly with respect to the associated chassis mounts.

A tank for use in a system for storing and for transporting ladings, wherein the system inclUdes a stationary support station including first support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position and second support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position, and a road vehicle including a frame provided with road wheels and having a first body bolster for receiving one end of the tank and a second body bolster for receiving the other end of the tank and lifting means on the frame for causing relative vertical movement between said tank and the support structures; said tank comprising a body wall defining a closed chamber for containing lading and having means for introducing lading thereinto and means for removing lading therefrom, a first tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to one end thereof and a second tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to the other end thereof, said first tank bolster including first spaced-apart support plates disposed on opposite sides of said first tank bolster and said second tank bolster including second spaced-apart support plates disposed on opposite sides of said second tank bolster, said first and second support plates being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second support structures respectively when the first and second support structures are in the supporting positions thereof for mounting said tank at the associated stationary support station, and said first tank bolster further including first spaced-apart chassis mounts disposed on opposite sides thereof and spaced inwardly with respect to said first support plates and said second tank bolster further including second spaced-apart chassis mounts disposed on opposite sides thereof and spaced inwardly with respect to said second support plates, said first and second chassis mounts being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second body bolsters respectively for mounting said tank on the associated road vehicle, whereby the lifting means on the road vehicle may be operated to transfer said tank between the stationary support station and the road vehicle.
5. The tank as set forth in claim 4, wherein said first support plates and said first chassis mounts are in lateral alignment, and said second support plates and said second chassis mounts are in lateral alignment.
6. The tank as set forth in claim 5, wherein each of said support plates is off-set vertically from the associated chassis mounts.

The tank as set forth in claim 4, which further includes a first pair of jacking points spaced from said first pair of support plates and said first pair of chassis mounts and a second pair of jacking points spaced from both said second pair of support plates and said second pair of chassis mounts.
8. The tank as set forth in claim 7, wherein each of said pair of jacking points is in lateral alignment with the associated pair of support plates and chassis mounts and in horizontal alignment with said associated pair of support plates.

A tank for use in a system for storing and for transporting ladings, wherein the system includes a stationary support station including first support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position and second support structure shiftable between a receiving position and a supporting position, and a road vehicle including a frame provided with road wheels and having a first body bolster for receiving one end of the tank and a second body bolster for receiving the other end of the tank and lifting means on the frame for causing relative vertical movement between said tank and the support structures; said tank comprising a body wall defining a closed chamber for containing lading and having means for introducing lading thereinto and means for removing lading therefrom, a first tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to one end thereof and a second tank bolster mounted on said body wall adjacent to the other end thereof, said first tank bolster incluDing a first support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the stationary support station and said second tank bolster including a second support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on said stationary support station, said first tank bolster further including a first chassis mount off-set transversely with respect to the associated first support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the road vehicle and said second tank bolster further including a second chassis mount off-set longitudinally with respect to the associated second support plate for mounting the adjacent end of said tank on the road vehicle, said first and second support plates being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second support structures respectively when the first and second support structures are in the supporting positions thereof for mounting said tank at the associated stationary support station, said first and second chassis mounts being arranged to be seated upon and supported by the associated first and second body bolsters respectively for mounting said tank on the associated road vehicle, whereby the lifting means on the road vehicle may be operated to transfer said tank between the stationary support station and the road vehicle.
10. The tank set forth in claim 9, wherein said support plates are offset vertically upwardly with respect to associated chassis mounts.
11. The tank set forth in claim 9, wherein each of said support plates and each of said chassis mounts extends longitudinally substantially the entire length of the associated tank bolster.
