Abstract

A device of cylindrical shape which includes a lower playing surface on which a multiple number of balls are placed in close proximity with each other. The upper portion of the device includes a sleeve and post member which is slideable upon a bar in order to position an adjustable trough having spring loaded means for urging a ball at any angle desired down into the cylindrical device so as to cause impact with the multiple number of balls.

it is therefore the primary purpose of this invention to provide a game device which will include barrel means with a lower surface therein for positioning a plurality of balls to be struck from a shooter ball at the upper extremity of the barrel device, the result being that theplurality of balls will be scattered so that they may be individually played into any one of a plurality of apertures within the playingsurface.

Another object of this invention isto provide a-game devicewhich will be a competitive game and will have a transverse bar member on the interior of the barrel upon which will be slideable a sleeve, the sleeve being held stationary by wing n'ut fastener means when the sleeve is in place in the desired position and the sleeve will carry a post member having a trough member at its extremity which will be adjusted to any desired angle by means ofa wing nut fastener.

. Another object of this invention is to providea' device of the typedescribed which will have a spring loaded lever on the trough member, the spring having sufficient tension so as toretain the shooter ball within the trough member until the lever is manually activat'ed. y l

A further object of this invention is to provide a device which will require a degree of skill in order to position thetro'ugh so as to deliver the shooter ball for impact with a specific ball of a plurality of playing balls in order that they may be deposited within any one of a plurality of apertures within the-playing surface of the barrel and the device also includes an angularly positioned chute spaced apart from the playing surface and beneathit for directing the placed balls towards the front portion of the device in order that they may be retrieved therefrom through an aperture through the wall of the barrel portion of the device.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a barrel pool. gamedevicewhichis simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation. 7

These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:

According-to this invention, a barrel pool game device is shown to include a barrel ll having a bottom wall 11'. A member 26 is fixedly secured to the underside of trough member 24 and has secured to it at one end, a spring 27 of which the opposite end is secured to a pivotable le'ver member 28 which is manually operated and secured to hinge 29, the hinge also being secured to member 26.

It will be noted that spring 27 will be adjusted to such tension that is necessary to hold lever 28 against the end of trough member 24 against the weight of the shooter ball 21.

When the players have adjusted sleeve 17 upon the bar 16 to a desired position and have also adjusted the angle of the trough member 24 the lever 28 is urged rearwards of trough member 24 and is released which will drive the shooter ball 21 out of the trough member 24 and downward upon the playing surface 13 in order to impact with a plurality'of balls 19 to thus separate them.

if the shooter ball 21 should happen to fall into any one of the plurality of spaced apart apertures 30, then thatplayer forfeits all of the target balls 19 and his turn, however, if the target balls 19 are broken and the shooter ball 21 is not lost, the target balls 1Q are directed into apertures 30 in rotation, as long as the proper numbered ball is hit first, all of the balls 19 received in apertures 30 on that shot may be counted towards the players score.

After the balls 19 are set up in the circle 20 and have been spread apart on impact, the players can use the resilient lining sides 12 of barrel H to make shots from any angle desired, the balls' 19 being apertured in rota- 'tion.

When the balls 19 fall into anyone of the plurality of apertures 30, they will strike the chute 31 which is angled towards the front of device 10 and will remain there until the players decide to remove them from the chute through barrel ll. y

What i claim is:

1. A barrel pool game device comprising:

a. a cylindrical barrel;

b. A resilientlining on the inside of said barrel;

c. A plurality of target balls;

d. a shooter ball for impacting with a plurality of said target balls; I

e. a lower inner wall disposedv within said barrel for arranging said target balls;

f. means including a trough carried by said barrell for adjustably delivering said shooter ball to any desired position for impact with said target balls arranged on said lower wall;

g. means for holding said trough a predetermined distance above said lower wall;

h. Wing nut fastener means providing for adjustment of the angle and position of said trough;

i. lever means carried by said trough having attached spring return means cooperating with said lever means for manually displacing said shooter ball from said trough;

j. a plurality of target apertures spaced about the circumference of said barrel through which any of said target or shooter balls may fall;

k. chute means provided below said lower wall for directing balls falling through said target apertures; and

l. a retrieval aperture for removal of balls from below the lower wall provided at the lowest portion of said chute means.

2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein:

a. said chute means being fixedly secured at an angle so as to gravity feed said target balls to said retrieval aperture in the outer peripheral wall of said barrel;

b. said lower wall being fixedly secured to the inner periphery of said barrel; c. said barrel having an upper rim;

, d. said resilient lining being adherently attached to the inner periphery of said barrell and extending upward from the inner wall to the rim of the barrel;

and

c. said rim defining an opening smaller than that of the outside diameter of the barrel.

3. The combination according to claim 2, wherein:

a. said adjustable means includes a post member and a sleeve;

b. said holding means comprises a bar member fix-

Claims (3)

1. A barrel pool game device comprising: a. a cylindrical barrel; b. A resilient lining on the inside of said barrel; c. A plurality of target balls; d. a shooter ball for impacting with a plurality of said target balls; e. a lower inner wall disposed within said barrel for arranging said target balls; f. means including a trough carried by said barrell for adjustably delivering said shooter ball to any desired position for impact with said target balls arranged on said lower wall; g. means for holding said trough a predetermined distance above said lower wall; h. Wing nut fastener means providing for adjustment of the angle and position of said trough; i. lever means carried by said trough having attached spring return means cooperating with said lever means for manually displacing said shooter ball from said trough; j. a plurality of target apertures spaced about the circumference of said barrel through which any of said target or shooter balls may fall; h. chute means provided below said lower wall for directing balls falling through said target apertures; and l. a retrieval aperture for removal of balls from below the lower wall provided at the lowest portion of said chute means.

2. The combination accoRding to claim 1, wherein: a. said chute means being fixedly secured at an angle so as to gravity feed said target balls to said retrieval aperture in the outer peripheral wall of said barrel; b. said lower wall being fixedly secured to the inner periphery of said barrel; c. said barrel having an upper rim; d. said resilient lining being adherently attached to the inner periphery of said barrell and extending upward from the inner wall to the rim of the barrel; and e. said rim defining an opening smaller than that of the outside diameter of the barrel.

3. The combination according to claim 2, wherein: a. said adjustable means includes a post member and a sleeve; b. said holding means comprises a bar member fixedly secured to the inner periphery of said barrel and horizontal with the lower wall of said barrel; c. said sleeve slidably carried on said bar member; d. said post member fixedly secured to said sleeve and carrying said trough member; and e. said sleeve adjustable on said bar by means of a wing nut fastener and enabling players of said game to position said trough to any traverse point desired within said barrel.
