Description

(No Model.)
R. A. REGESTER.
MOLDERS POT.
No. 370,159. Patented Sept. 20, 1887.
NITE STATES PATENT OFFICE,
ROBERT A. REGESTER, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
MOLDERS POT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.370,159, dated September 20,1887.
Application filed November 19, 1886. Serial No. 219,421.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ROBERT A. REGESTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Molders Pots; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates tov improvements in mold ers pots, by which two or more gates may be poured simultaneously, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the pot and mold; Fig. 2, a front elevation of the pot; Fig. 3, a top view; Fig. 4, a view of a modification of the device.
' Similar figures refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The pot 5 is constructed of oblong form, with the usual handles, 6, attached to either side thereof, one of which is forked, so that the pot may be conveniently tilted to pour the metal into the mold. On either or both sides of the pot 5 are arranged two or more spouts, 7,which willsimultaneouslydelivertwo ormorestreams of molten metal into the mold when the pot is tilted. The gates 8 in the mold 9 are previously placed at a predetermined position to correspond with the spouts 7 of the pot 5, thereby delivering the molten metal simulta neously to two or' more points of the mold, which effects a more homogeneous resultin the castings than when only one gate is poured at a time, especially so in thin castings.
In Fig. 4 a modification of the oblong pot is (No model.)
shown, which consists of having two or more circular pots 5 attached to the handle 6, each provided with a single spout, 7, thereby accomplishing the same result as in the oblong one; but I prefer to use the oblong one, as the molten metal will not chill so soon as when it is subdivided.
In using the device the mold 9 is provided with a number of gates 8, corresponding with the number of spouts 7, and arranged at the same distance'apart as the spouts 7, and in a right line. The metal is then poured into the said gates simultaneously from the pot by tilting the same in the usual manner.
Having described my invention, what Iclaim, and wish to secure by United States Letters Patent, is
A molders device for pouring molten metal, provided on one or both sides with two or more spouts, 7, the said spouts 7, which are on the same side, being equidistant from a longitudinal line drawn centrally through the said device, in combination with a mold having two or more gates registering with the spouts in the ladle and opening into the cavity of the mold, by which, when the device is tilted, the streams of molten metal will flow from each spout in the same plane and simultaneously into the respective gates, for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT A. REGESTER.
