Definitions

  • Trifari 57 ABSTRACT A set of deflection coils having a screw bolts and lock nuts permanently connected-to the set of coils for mounting in a supporting cage by means of a device enabling both an axial adjustment of the set of coils and an angle adjustment thereof by rotation about its axis.
  • the invention relates to a set of deflection coils, in particular for a color television display tube, which is mounted in a supporting cage with the aid of at least two members for the adjustment of the set of coils in the direction of its axis, said members consisting mainly of screw bolts with lock nuts connected to the set of coils and radially protruding therefrom.
  • a set of deflection coils mounted in this manner is known, for example, from the US. Pat. No. 3,297,895.
  • the object of the invention is to add this adjustment possibility without making the adjustment too complicated.
  • This object is fulfilled according to the invention in that the adjusting members form part of a combined device which, since the screw boltsare movable with respect to the cage both in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction of the cage, enables both an axial adjustment of the set of coils and an angle adjustment thereof by rotation about the said axis. This makes it possible to perform both adjustments by displacing the screw bolts after loosening of the lock nuts.
  • FIG. I is a side elevation of an embodiment
  • FIG. 2 is a plan view of the adjusting device of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, on a larger scale and in disassembled condition, and
  • FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 show some components of the device shown in FIG. 2.
  • the set of deflection coils shown in FIG. 1 consists inter alia of coils I, wound on a coil former 2, a ring core 3 which is shown in a partly dotted line and a ring 5 of a synthetic material having a supporting ring (not shown for clarity) which is mounted on the coil with the aid of a snap mechanism.
  • On the ring 5 mounting blocks 7 are formed in which screw bolts 9 are incorporated (see also FIG. 2), which serve for the coaxial mounting of the set of coils in a supporting cage.
  • this cage supports, in addition to members for mounting to the neck of a display tube, focussing members on the upper end shown in FIG. 1, which members, however, are not shown to avoid complexity of the drawing.
  • the supporting cage 11 is provided with protrusions 13 incorporating groove-shaped guides 15 for axially displaceable members 17 (see also FIG. 3).
  • the screw bolts 9 extend through slotted holes 19 in the members 17 so that the set of coils can perform two movements with respect to the cage 11: a displacement along its longitudinal axis by displacement of the members 17 in the guides 15 and a rotation about said axis by displacement of the bolts 9 in the slotted holes 19.
  • the set of coils may be fixed in a given position with respect to the cage by tightening the wing nuts 21 which then urge the members 17 tightly against the inner surface of the guides 15 via washers 23,
  • brake illfi niis fi 2333591;lofil afltitfe lfild fi are urged by a spring 27 against a surface 29, which moves with respect to the brake block upon rotation of the set of coils.
  • this surface forms part of a protruding portion 31 of the member 17.
  • FIG. 2 shows the situation which arises upon complete loosening of the nut 21.
  • the brake blocks 25 may be released from the surface 29 against the force of the spring, after which the set of coils becomes rotatable through'an angle which is limited by the edgeof the hole 19.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show that the surface 29 is provided with'a knurl which is parallel to the axis of the set of coils, whilst FIG. 5 shows that the surface 33 of the brake block 25, co-operating with the surface 29, is also provided with a knurl.
  • the brake block is provided with two arms 35 which grip around the protruding portion 31 of the member 17, thus making it impossible for the brake block 25 to rotate about the bolt 9. Consequently', the knurls of the two co-operating surfaces 29 and 33 are always mutually parallel so that they can engage into each other and prevent rotation of the set of coils about its axis.
  • Each of the arms 35 has a cam 37, which engages behind an angle block 39 on the member 17 (see FIG. 5), thus preventing the brake block 25 from becoming loose from the bolt 9 if the nut 21 is removed.
  • the cam 37 has, of course, sufiicient play in the angle block 39 to be able to release the surfaces 29 and 33 from each other.
  • a device for mounting at least one deflection coil. about a longitudinal cathode ray tube comprising a coil from disposed about saidtube adapted to receive said coil, a cage disposed about said form, adjustment members mounted on said form, means mounted on said cage for defining longitudinal guides,
  • a first plurality of blocks disposed in said guides respecrality of blocks each having one of said knurled sur-- 1 faces disposed on said blocks respectively.
  • rotational guide surfaces comprise said first plurality of blocks each having a circumferentially elongated slot.
  • said urging means comprise a plurality of springs disposed on said respective bolts between said nuts and said second plurality of blocks respectively.
