Definitions

  • louver doors are built by making a frame with wooden door stiles and rails, in which a number of sloping louveror luffer-boards, generally also from wood, are mounted and joined to the door stiles by means of mortiseand-tenon joints, or glued butt joints or by means of other means.
  • the door covered by the invention is constituted-by an assembly of a series of extruded or molded pieces from plastic material, thus resulting a door free from deformations and allows a very wide line of color tints, enhancing the doors decorative look.
  • the door comprises door stiles and rails made of tubular rectangular cross section, provided with lengthwise reinforcing partitions.
  • the inner stiles faces pointing towards the frame's interior opening have a lengthwise canal defined by two finlike parallel salients pointing towards the stiles interior.
  • These canals are intendedfor the anchoring of intermediate insertion parts between the door stiles and the louveror luffer-boards which are crosswise located in the opening between the door stiles.
  • these insertion parts are made by an l-shaped section and on its side facing on to its corresponding door stile have a T-shaped rib running lengthwise on their middle which slides within the aforementioned stiles canal, whereas the opposite side has a rib running lengthwise down this side and is slightly shifted towards one of the edges and its purpose is to receive the slots or recesses made in the louveror luffer-boards ends, so that they cannot tilt or be tilted.
  • each louveror lufier-board has in itsends a slot or recess for this laying-in.
  • These louveror lufi'er-boards are also made of suitably shaped, hollow,'generally prismatic parts with a forward sloping fin, and are furthermore provided with a rib running along their top which as to the dimensions fits a slot also running along the bottom face of the next higher louveror lufi'er-board, thus making possible the assembly of series of such louveror lufier-boards with each other and with the doors top, middle and bottom rail.
  • the pattern of the middle and bottom rails is the same they also have a rib running along their tops and on their bottom faces a slot also running lengthwise, these slots and ribs serve for the above-mentioned assembly.
  • the top rail has only the bottom slot but not the rib along its top for this top rib has to fit no other element.
  • the middle rail is joined with the door stiles by means of a tenon or trunnel arranged crosswise as to the stile and lengthwise as to the middle rail which may be secured in place by means of gluing.
  • the assembly of the door stiles with the top and bottom rails is made by placing within their hollow spaces laths at right angles, thus securing the assembly of said door stiles and top and bottom rails with the assistance of glue.
  • louver door with fixed louveror luffer-boards which is the subject of this invention, is specified hereinafter with more detail referring to enclosed drawings in which an instance door specimen is shown.
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the door subject of this invention, showing part of its elements cut out to allow a view of their structure;
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded view of part of the component elements of the door, subject of the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 is a total vertical cross section of said door.
  • the door subject of the present invention, comprises several stiles (1) which are constituted by rectangular prismatic sections which at their respective ends are cut at an angle of 45 for the purpose of joining them with the rails.
  • These stiles possess longitudinal intermediate reinforcing partitions (3 and4), as well as a canal (5) which runs down all the length of the sides which face each other within the opening between the stiles.
  • This canal (5) is formed by two finlike salients (6 and 7) showing inwards into the stile, and allows the insertion of an l-shaped part (8) out of the midst of which protrudes a web (9) facing towards the canal (5), provided with a perpendicular flange (10); the purpose of this web (9) is to slide within the stiles canal (5).
  • the end flanges (11 and 12) of the insertion part (8) project then slightly out of the stiles l) respective edges.
  • each insertion part (8) the purpose of which is to facilitate the mounting of the louver-boards which run across the door opening between stiles, offer in their respective webs which are to receive these lufier-boards, a
  • small lengthwise running rib (13) which is shified towards one of the web's flanges. This rib (13) makes easier the guidance of the louveror luffer-boards and prevents them from sloping forward this effect is due to the recesses (14) made at the ends of said louveror luffer-boards (15), into which are being anchored the lengthwise ribs (13).
  • louveror luffer-boards have also a prismatieal shape and internal reinforcing partitions (16 and 17) and possess front extension fins (18) fitted a forward slope.
  • louveror luffer-boards have on their tops a longitudinal salient rib (19) of the exact dimensions as a slot or recession (20) made also longitudinally in the same louveror luffer-boards in order to allow the assembly by means of joints of the louveror luffer-boards (15) in series and with the rails.
  • the top rail (21) which also comprises internal partitions (22 and 23) and is of a general prismatic shape has on its bottom face a slot (24) which serves for the attachment of the louver-board (15) next to it.
  • the middle rail (25) which, apart from the longitudinal partitions (27 and 28), possesses on its top a rib (26) which fits the bottom slot (14) of the next upper small board (15), and it has also a slot (29) on its lower edge where the rib (19) of the next lower small board l5) fits.
  • the bottom rail (30) has exactly the same shape as the middle rail (25 with the only difference that both these rails have on their top a rib (26) which the top rail (21) has not, for it having no need of it.
  • tenons or trunnels (31) are brought in perpendicular to the stiles (1) and lengthwise within the middle rail (25) in the central hollow space (32) of said middle rail (25), thus forming, after being glued on, a reinforced assembly.
  • the joining together of the door stiles (1) and the top and bottom rails (21) and (30), respectively, is done the same way using the laths (33, 34 and 35) located at right angles respectively within the hollow spaces (36, 37 and 38) of the door stiles (1) and in the hollow spaces (39, 40 and 41) of the rails (21) and (30), respectively; this assembly may also be stiffened by means of a subsequent gluing.
  • Louver door with fixed louveror luffer-boards constituted by a frame formed by two door stiles and a top, bottom and middle rails and a number of louvers or luffers provided with slots or recesses, mounted within the door opening between stiles, characterized in that the door stiles, rails and louvers or luffers are made of hollow sections of plastic material containing internal longitudinal reinforcing partitions, comprising a longitudinal insertion l-shaped section between the door stile and the louvers or luffers, the door stiles having in their inner sides facing towards the opening between stiles a lengthwise canal formed by two parallel finlike salients which point inwards towards the doors jamb, hereto the adjacent face of each one of the intermediate inser tion parts facing towards the door stile is fitted with a central lengthwise T-shaped rib which slides within the stiles canal, whereas these intermediate insertion parts possess in their opposite face a longitudinal rib shifted towards one side, which fits the slots or recesses
  • each louveror luffer-board is made of a prismatic hollow body fitted with inner longitudinal partitions and with a sloping fin on its forward face and has on its top edge a salient rib which runs along all this edge and in the bottom edge of each of said body there is a longitudinal slot where the salient rib of the next following body fits, thus all these bodies of the louveror luffer-boards which are located the one on top of the other, are assembled together.
  • top rail has along its bottom face a slot and the middle and bottom rails have a similar slot running along their bottom faces and a rib running along their top face, through these slots and ribs each rail is joined with their respective adjacent louveror luffer-boards.
  • Door according to claim 1 characterized in that the door stiles and top and middle rails have their ends cut at an angle of 45 for the purpose of their being joined together.
  • each door stile is joined to the middle rail by means of laths which is let in the respective door stile and lengthwise embedded in the rail's hollow interior space and furthermore, each of said door stiles are joined to the top and bottom rails by means of laths located at right angles within the door stiles and rails hollow interior spaces.
  • Door according to claim 5 characterized in that the laths joining the door stiles with the rails are fastened within them by means of glue.
