S.A.HARRYMAVN.
FOOT WARMER FOR STOVES.
'No. 361,412. Patented Apr. 19, 1887.
UNITED STATES PATENT OF ICE.
SARAH A. HARRYMAN, OF SEDALIA, MISSOURI.
FOIAOT-WAR M ER FO R STOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 361,412, dated April 19, 1887.
Application tiled August J4, 1886. Serial No. 211,731. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SARAH A. HARRYMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sedalia, in the county of Pettis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foot-Warmers for Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a sectional elevation of my improved foot-warmer, showing it connected toa stove; and Fig. 2, atransverse section through line at w of Fig. 1.
The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and effective foot-warming de vice for stoves and one in which the feet of the person can be retained comfortably warm while reclining in a chair;v also, it is especially vention consists in the details of construction substantially as shown in the drawings, and hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents a suitable stove, to which my improved footwarming device is connected by means of pipe a, said foot-warmingdevice being shown at B, and it may be of any suitable shapeand any desirable size found best adapted for the purpose.
The device consists of an outer casing provided with double walls I) b, to form a hot-air space between them to increase the efficiency of the device, and the top a is formed with collars d and e, for attaching thereto the pipe (1, through which the heat from the stove passes, and pipe f, for the discharge of the smoke. 'The double walls above described better retain the heat within the device and prevent a toorapid radiation thereof at the side walls of the outer casing, and secure a sufficient rachimney.
tend between the double walls b b, the inner one of said walls extending along the bottom 9 of the casing to increase its strength for the support of the several parts of the device. The top and bottom of the casing are held against the ends of the double walls by means It should be understood that the feet of the person rest upon the plate B, and that this plate may have a mild and comfortable heat which will not be too intense, I provide the air-space D between the heat-retaining chamber and the foot-plate. useful in sick-rooms for invalids; and the in- The chamber, as will be seen, is curved, in order to present a longer passage for the heat before it can escape, thereby sufficiently heat ing the air in the space D, for warming the foot-plate to auniform heat.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is
In a foot-warming device adapted for attaching to a stove, the double walls I) and bottom 9, in combination with the top or foot plate, 0, having collars for attaching thereto suitable pipes, and having depending from its underside a semicircular heat-retai ning chamber, 0, whereby an air-space, ,D, is formed, said plate with the bottom and side walls betially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
SARAH A. HARRYMAN. Vitnesses:
