Abstract

A frame box with record holder including an open front box formation, a looseleaf ring binder having a backbone, means for mounting the ring binder in the box formation and a cover hingedly mounted on said box formation for closing off the front of the box formation and concealing record sheets mounted on said ring binder.

T N n 7 a o 3 PICTURE FRAME BOX WITH RECORD HOLDER SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to an improvement in devices for keeping written records and more particularly to a device with which written records may be kept together and in order in a boxlike formation having a looseleaf ring binder mounted in the boxlike formation. The boxlike formation has a cover hin gedly mounted thereon for concealing the records therein and means on the boxlike formation for hanging the same on the wall. Looseleaf sheets mounted in the ring binder may contain records such as birthdays, anniversaries, marriages, medical shots, insurance premiums, etc., all readily and easily accessible in such a device.

These and other more detailed and specific objects will be disclosed in the course of the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of a combination picture frame box with record holder a portion of which is broken away and which embodies the invention.

FIG. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1 with the access frame door in an open condition.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of FIG. 1.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the device A includes the open-sided boxlike formation which includes the rear wall portion 12, the bottom wall portion 14, the sidewall portions 16 and 18 and the top wall portion 20. Formed on the peripheral free edge of the walls of the boxlike formation 10 is the flange 22. The numeral 24 designates a base frame which includes the inner peripheral flange 26, and extending from the flange 26 is the outwardly flaring frame face portion 28. The flange 26 is secured to the flange 22 of the boxlike formation 10.

Further provided is the lower angular bracket 30 formed of the first leg portion 32 and the right angular leg portion 34. The first leg portion 32 is secured to the sidewall 16 by solder or any other known means with the right angular leg portion 34 overlying the wall 16 with the free end of the leg 34 extending inwardly of the boxlike formation 10. A second or upper angular bracket 36 is provided which is identical to the lower bracket and having the same numerals but with an accompanying lower case letter a. The leg 34a overlies the wall 16 with the free end of the leg 34a extending inwardly of the boxlike formation 10. The angular brackets 30 and 36 form a mounting means for the conventional looseleaf ring binder backbone 38 mounting the separable rings 40. The brackets 30 and 36 are so spaced that the backbone 38 is removably engageable with and behind the leg portions 34. The backbone 38 is easily slipped in between the leg portions 34 and 34a and the wall 16 where it is held against displacement except for removal by moving the backbone outwardly from the position in FIGS. 2 and 3. Record sheets such as 42 may be mounted on the rings 40 of the ring binder backbone.

The numeral 44 designates a cover which includes the peripheral frame 46. The frame 46 is channel-shaped in cross section and into which is slipped the flat support 48. A sheet of glass 50 is also slipped into the frame 46 with a photo 52 between the glass and the flat support 48. The frame may mount a mirror, plaque or other flat member. The frame 44 has secured thereto the hinges 54 and 56 which are also secured to the sidewall 16 whereby the cover may be hingedly moved into a position which closes the boxlike formation 10 and conceals the record sheets 42. The flange 22 has secured thereto the magnetic stop 58 which is engaged by the frame 46 whereby the frame is maintained closed and parallel with the rear wall 12 of the boxlike formation 10. The outer surface of the rear wall 12 has secured thereto the eyes 60 and 62 whereby the device A may be hung on a wall.

The device A provides the looseleaf sheets 42 on which records of importance may be kept such as birthday dates, life insurance policy numbers and premium due dates, records of medical shots, etc., and with the device the records are convemently maintained and accessible. The looseleaf record sheets 42 are easily and quickly removed from the device and replaced in the device without removing the device from the wall.

Having now therefore fully illustrated and described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

l. A frame box with record holder comprising in combinatron:

a. an open front box formation,

b. a looseleaf ring binder for record sheets and having a backbone,

c. means for mounting said ring binder in said box formatron,

d. a cover hingedly mounted on said box formation for closing off the front of said box formation and concealing record sheets mounted on said ring binder,

e. said box formation including a backwall, spaced sidewalls, and spaced bottom and top walls,

. said mounting means including a pair of spaced right angular brackets secured to a wall of said box formation engageable by said backbone of said ring binder.

2. The device of claim 1 in which said box formation has means for hanging the same on a wall.

3. The device of claim 2 in which. said cover includes a frame for mounting sheet material.

Claims (3)

1. A frame box with record holder comprising in combination: a. an open front box formation, b. a looseleaf ring binder for record sheets and having a backbone, c. means for mounting said ring binder in said box formation, d. a cover hingedly mounted on said box formation for closing off the front of said box formation and concealing record sheets mounted on said ring binder, e. said box formation including a backwall, spaced sidewalls, and spaced bottom and top walls, f. said mounting means including a pair of spaced right angular brackets secured to a wall of said box formation engageable by said backbone of said ring binder.

2. The device of claim 1 in which said box formation has means for hanging the same on a wall.

3. The device of claim 2 in which said cover includes a frame for mounting sheet material.
