Abstract

A mathematical game having a game board divided into four sections, each of which is coded. Each of the sections is divided into numbered areas with the numbers increasing progressively from the center of the board outwardly to the side of the board. Each of the areas is divided into one system of basic mathematics, division, subtraction, addition and multiplication, and each of such areas is progressively increasingly numbered from left to right, top to bottom, with numerals impressed thereon. A set of playing blocks is provided for each of the sections and is also coded to match the correspondingly coded section; a slot is cut in each of said blocks for positioning according to the number of such block with the position of such slot being determined by the number of the block with the numerical order being from left to right, top to bottom, such that, for example, a block for the numeral two would have a slot positioned inwardly from the left-hand side of such block and along the upper edge of such block.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention This invention relates to the field of games and more specifically to the field of a mathematical game including a playing boardand a plurality of sets of blocks.
2. Description of the Prior Art There is no known prior art to applicants knowledge which relates to this game.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Briefly, the present invention relates to a mathematical game including a coded section game board wherein each of the sections is divided into a series of progressively numbered areas and wherein each of the areas is further divided into a series of numbers with each of the numbers increasing progressively from left to right, top to bottom, in each of such areas and a series of a plurality of sets of blocks for each section wherein one of each of said blocks is provided with a number, or a similar number to one of each of said areas wherein a slot is positioned in each of said blocks and which positioning of such slot corresponds to the number of each of said blocks with such positioning being determined by left to right, top to bottom, progressive counting, to thereby enable players to use mathematical skills in division, multiplication, subtraction or addition, singly or in combination to attempt to achieve the high score by matching the highest numbered areas with .the highest numbered blocks such that the slots positioned each of said blocks will match the subtraction, multiplication, division or addition or the block relative to the area, depending upon how the game board is arranged.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved mathematical game.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Attention is directed to FIG. 1 wherein a game board includes an outer circumferential rim 11 and a playing surface generally designated at 12, divided into four quarterly sections l3, l4, l5 and 16, respectively, which are coded as illustrated in such figure. Each of the sections 13 through 16 is divided into a plurality of areas 20 which are illustrated as being divided into four quarter sections 21, 22, 23 and 24.
Each of such areas 20 of each of such sections 13 through 16 is numbered from left to right and from near the center of such sections outwardly. The numeral progression, for example and as illustrated on section 14, begins with the number I 2', 3', 4, 5, 6', etc., until the furthermost outside area on the right of such section 14 is number I2.
The numbering or numerals impressed on the surface of each of said areas 20 is encompassed in a manner to be illustrated by the following example. As illustrated in FIG. 2, a series of numerals are impressed on each of the quarter sections 21, 22, 23 and 24, and the notations:
2; 2; respectively.
Since this is the 2 area of section I4, and since each of the sections is divided-into 12 areas, according to the rules each of the quarter sections 21' through 24 are divided into l2 areas, respectively.
Thus, for example, to determine the numerals to be placed in a quarter section area 21 with such numerals increasing progressively from left to right, top to bottom, and beginning with the numeral l for the top left-hand area, if 2 were multiplied times 1, the result would, of course, be 2, et sequence until the last number 24 is obtained in the lower right-hand corner by multiplying the number l2, which is the number of that block of quarter section area 21 times 2. The other answers for the addition, division and subtraction will vary as the numerals impressed on quarter sections 22, 23 and 24 are obtained in the same manner, respectively. In like manner, the numbers for all of the remaining areas 1' through 12, for each of the sections 13 through 16 is obtained in the same manner.
At least four sets of a plurality of playing blocks 30 are provided, having an upper surface 31 and sides 32.
A slot 33 is formed in such block 30 in a manner to be described hereinafter.
As illustrated in FIG. 3, the playing block 30 is impressed with the numeral 2'. In the game, there are a like amount of playing blocks 30 as there-are areas for each of the sections and each of such playing blocks is coded in the same code as its corresponding section. Further, each of said blocks has impressed thereon a number which corresponds with a number of one of the areas, for example in FIG. 3 the playing block 30 is impressed with the numeral 2'.
The slot 33 is positioned in the block 30 by the determination of the block number. Since playing block 30 has been designated as block 2'for the purposes of playing the game, then the position of the slot is determined by determining the number of areas per section and dividing such block equally into such area with the slot then being positioned by determining where such number would be positioned in the block and cutting the slot into the block. For example, in FIG. 3 the block is labeled 2' and thus counting from left to right, top to bottom, the number 2 slot is in the middle of the upper onethird of the block and this is the position which slot 33 occupies relative to the remainder of the playing block 30. If, for example, the block was number 12'. then the lower right-hand comer would be cut away so that the slot would be in that position.
As illustrated in FIG. I, a center area 35 is adjacent each of said sections 13 through 16, and is color coded different from each of said sections and is according to the rules an open section, unnumbered, for movement of the playing blocks 30 as will be set forth hereinbelow.
In the operation of the game, each of the plurality of sets of coded blocks are positioned on a section opposite from their correspondingly coded section. For example, if section 14 were coded red, then such color coded red blocks would be positioned on section 16. Each of the playing blocks for each of the areas is also initially positioned such that the numbers on the blocks match the numbers on the areas. That is, for example, each of the four color coded blocks 30 for the section 14 having a numeral 2' impressed thereon would be positioned in the 2' area of section 16.
The game is designed in such a manner so that the winner achieves the highest numbered score with the object being to move the color coded blocks onto their correspondingly color coded sections in such a manner that the highest numbered blocks are positioned in the highest numbered area of such section. For example, the highest numbers would normally be obtained by having the blocks numbered 12' (not shown) being positioned on the area 12' since in multiplication alone the 12 block positioned on the quarter section area of the area 12 will yield a result of 144 12 times 12).
The game can accommodate four players and such players move the blocks in sequence with the first player moving the block into the area 35 if all the blocks for all the areas are used. if only one set of blocks is used for four areas 21, 22, 23 and 24 then movement may be to other colors of the board as desired, The blocks may be moved laterally and they may jump over one another into vacant areas. The object is to prevent other players from reaching high scores, while at the same time obtaining high scores for oneself, from his coded section and his coded blocks.
By way of an example, ifa block impressed with 3 thereon and thus having the right-hand upper corner portion cutaway, is moved on to the addition area 22, the result of 3 plus 2 is 5. The numeral will be the numeral showing from the cutaway portion of the block and this would be a persons score if he chose to keep his block in such area. Or, for example, if the area block 12 were moved onto the multiplication quarter section area 21 of area (2' of section M), then the slot would indicate that 12 times 2 is 24, which of course is correct.
In this manner, it can be appreciated that by moving the higher numbered blocks to the higher numbered areas of each of the sections, that larger scores can normally be obtained and thus the game requires the basic mathematical skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Without departing from the scope of the invention, it can be understood that another embodiment of the invention might be the inclusion of merely four sections having all addition, all multiplication, all division, or all subtraction, without limiting the scope of the invention.
The foregoing disclosure and description of the invention are illustrative and explanatory thereof, and various changes in the size, shape, and materials as well as in the details of the value from adjacent the center of said sections outwardly toward each of said sides of said playing surface;
4. each of said numbered areas being divided into at least one facet of basic mathematics, division, subtraction, addition and multiplication;
5. each of said areas having progressively increasing numerals impressed thereon, from left to right, top to bottom, said impressed numerals for each area being determined by the number of said area and thereafter dividing, subtracting, adding or multiplying, depending on which facet of basic mathematics is used, said numeral into the numeral one for the top left-hand corner impressed numeral, and in sequence thereafter beginning with the numeral two from left to right, top to bottom for each area;
b. at least four sets of a plurality of blocks, each of said sets being coded to match a corresponding section;
one of each of said blocks of one of each of said sets having a numeral impressed thereon matching a corresponding number of said numbered areas of one of each of said sections of said game board;
d. each of said playing blocks having a slot, said slot being each of said coded blocks being positioned initially on one section of said game board opposite from said correspondingly coded section, said blocks being positioned initially to match numbered areas with numbered blocks;
. each section having one move forward, or laterally into adjacent areas, or over adjacent block into vacant areas with said block, said moves being in rotating sequence;
each of said coded blocks being moved into its correspondingly coded section wherein the side attaining the highest number is the winner of said game, the highest number normally being achieved by attempting to match the highest numbered blocks with the highest numbered areas which positions said slots in said block in such position relative to said area such that multiplication, addition, subtraction and division of the number of said area relative to the number of said area relative to the number of said block is obtained by the position of said slot.
. The structure as set forth in claim 1: wherein each of said areas in each of said sections is divided into four quarters; one of each of said four quarters is adapted to addition, multiplication, division and subtraction, respectively; and
. each of said blocks covering one of said areas being divided into four quarters for covering one of each of said four quarters of each of said areas.

Claims (6)

1. A mathematical match game comprising: a. a four-sided game board having a playing surface including: 1. at least four coded sections; 2. each of said sections comprising approximately one-fourth of said playing surface; 3. each of said sections including a progressive series of numbered areas, said numbered areas increasing in value from adjacent the center of said sections outwardly toward each of said sides of said playing surface; 4. each of said numbered areas being divided into at least one facet of basic mathematics, division, subtraction, addition and multiplication; 5. each of said areas having progressively increasing numerals impressed thereon, from left to right, top to bottom, said impressed numerals for each area being determined by the number of said area and thereafter dividing, subtracting, adding or multiplying, depending on which facet of basic mathematics is used, said numeral into the numeral one for the top left-hand corner impressed numeral, and in sequence thereafter beginning with the numeral two from left to right, top to bottom for each area; b. at least four sets of a plurality of blocks, each of said sets being coded to match a corresponding section; c. one of each of said blocks of one of each of said sets having a numeral impressed thereon matching a corresponding number of said numbered areas of one of each of said sections of said game board; d. each of said playing blocks having a slot, said slot being positioned in said block depending on the area number of said block wherein block number one of any of said four sections has a slot in the top left-hand corner of said block and succeeding slots are placed in succeeding blocks sequentially from left to right, top to bottom; e. each of said coded blocks being positioned initially on one section of said game board opposite from said correspondingly coded section, said blocks being positioned initially to match numbered areas with numbered blocks; f. each section having one move forward, or laterally into adjacent areas, or over adjacent block into vacant areas with said block, said moves being in rotating sequence; g. each of said coded blocks being moved into its correspondingly coded section wherein the side attaining the highest number is the winner of said game, the highest number normally being achieved by attempting to match the highest numbered blocks with the highest numbered areas which positions said slots in said block in such position relative to said area such that multiplication, addition, subtraction and division of the number of said area relative to the number of said area relative to the number of said block is obtained by the position of said slot.
2. each of said sections comprising approximately one-fourth of said playing surface;

The structure as set forth in claim 1: a. wherein each of said areas in each of said sections is divided into four quarters; b. one of each of said four quarters is adapted to addition, multiplication, division and subtraction, respectively; and c. each of said blocks covering one of said areas being divided into four quarters for covering one of each of said four quarters of each of said areas.
3. each of said sections including a progressive series of numbered areas, said numbered areas increasing in value from adjacent the center of said sections outwardly toward each of said sides of said playing surface;
4. each of said numbered areas being divided into at least one facet of basic mathematics, division, subtraction, addition and multiplication;
5. each of said areas having progressively increasing numerals impressed thereon, from left to right, top to bottom, said impressed numerals for each area being determined by the number of said area and thereafter dividing, subtracting, adding or multiplying, depending on which facet of basic mathematics is used, said numeral into the numeral one for the top left-hand corner impressed numeral, and in sequence thereafter beginning with the numeral two from left to right, top to bottom for each area; b. at least four sets of a plurality of blocks, each of said sets being coded to match a corresponding section; c. one of each of said blocks of one of each of said sets having a numeral impressed thereon matching a corresponding number of said numbered areas of one of each of said sections of said game board; d. each of said playing blocks having a slot, said slot being positioned in said block depending on the area number of said block wherein block number one of any of said four sections has a slot in the top left-hand corner of said block and succeeding slots are placed in succeeding blocks sequentially from left to right, top to bottom; e. each of said coded blocks being positioned initially on one section of said game board opposite from said correspondingly coded section, said blocks being positioned initially to match numbered areas with numbered blocks; f. each section having one move forward, or laterally into adjacent areas, or over adjacent block into vacant areas with said block, said moves being in rotating sequence; g. each of said coded blocks being moved into its correspondingly coded section wherein the side attaining the highest number is the winner of said game, the highest number normally being achieved by attempting to match the highest numbered blocks with the highest numbered areas which positions said slots in said block in such position relative to said area such that multiplication, addition, subtraction and division of the number of said area relative to the number of said area relative to the number of said block is obtained by the position of said slot.
