Abstract
The invention has a generally annular air chamber mountable below the seat and above the rim of a toilet bowl, and has openings thereto for receiving normally contaminated air from the toilet bowl, and an outlet to transmit the air to a filter element where it is deodorized and passed into the atmosphere. The filter element has a housing, an outlet, an inlet, an easily removable closure, and a blower therein adapted to move the normally contaminated air through the filter element and an easily replaceable filter cartridge therein. The filter element cartridge is easily replaced by removal of the filter element closure and is placed in the airstream through the filter element. The cartridge has baffles to direct the air back and forth transversely through the filtering material deodorizing same. The air chamber outlet and the filter element are operably connected by a conduit means. A switch, operably connected to the blower in the filter element is activated by pressure exerted on the seat as in normal use.

CLARENCE E. POISTER ATTORNEY TOILET STOOL VENTILATING MEANS This is a continuation-in-part of my Pat. application, Ser. No. 634,969, filed May I, 1967, and entitled TOILET STOOL VENTILATING MEANS.
Various types of toilet stool ventilating devices are known in the prior art as operable for removing air and odors from within a toilet bowl. However, these devices are generally inefficient in operation, costly to manufacture and unsightly in appearance and normally require specially designed toilet bowls and/or seats and are not readily adaptable to a conventional toilet stool structure. The commonly used means of ventilating a bathroom by ceiling or wall vents is generally not satisfactory because removal of a large quantity of heated or air-conditioned air requires replenishment and treatment of a generally large volume of air resulting in higher operating costs and problems in maintaining the desired air temperature.
in accordance with a preferred specific embodiment of this invention, an improved toilet stool ventilating means is provided operable on a toilet stool supported above a floor surface in a conventional manner. The toilet stool ventilating means includes an air chamber means connected to the toilet seat; a filter element connected to the air chamber means and operable to remove air therefrom, deodorize and pass into the immediate atmosphere; and a switch means located within the filter element means to operate it upon occupation of the seat. The air chamber means is attached on the underside of the seat and has openings to receive normally contaminated air from the toilet bowl to be conveyed to the filter element. The filter element means includes a rectangular housing having an easily removable top closure member extending over the upper edge of its sidewalls, having inlet and outlet sections and containing an air moving means to move air through the filter. The filter element means has also a cartridge filter member containing activated charcoal to purify air before discharge to the surrounding atmosphere and a mesh screen covering over its inlet and outlet openings for retaining the activated charcoal. The filtering element means is positioned beside the toilet bowl and generally in line with the hinge attachment of the seat and toilet bowl, and it is connected to the air chamber by a conduit means.
In accordance with another preferred specific embodiment of this invention, an improved toilet stool ventilating means is provided having components similar to the aforedescribed embodiment and arranged with the filter element means placed generally beside the toilet bowl directly under the air chamber outlet and connectable thereto. This embodiment operates in a manner similar to the other, only its physical orientation and mounting being different.
In accordance with an additional preferred specific embodiment of this invention, an improved toilet stool ventilating means is provided having components functioning similarly to' the embodiments supra, and having a different physical orientation. The seat has an air chamber underneath also, and it contains the switch means for the filtering element means which is located remotely from the toilet stool. The dial switch of my copending Pat. application Ser; No. 813,979, entitled IMPROVED TOILET STOOL YENTILATING MEANS, filed Apr. 7, 1969, is preferred. The filter element means is placed outside the room in which the toilet stool is located, or separated from such by a partition, and is connected to the toilet stool via a flexible conduit means. The conduit means which connects the air chamber outlet and the filter element means contains the electrical wire from the seat located switch means to the powering means of the filter element. This embodiment operates to convey air from the toilet bowl outside the room containing the toilet stool with a minimum removal of treated air and is especially useful where space is limited or remote filtering is desirable.
One object of this invention is to provide a new toilet stool ventilating means overcoming the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior-art devices.
Another object of this invention is to provide a toilet stool ventilating means which is usable on a conventional toilet structure and readily connectable to the seat and bowl members operable to convey contaminated air from the bowl and deodorize it.
One other object of this invention is to provide a toilet stool ventilating means which can be used with any conventional toilet stool structure without substantially altering its appearance, is easy to clean, also efficient and economical in operation.
One further object of this invention is to provide a toilet stool ventilating means including an annular ring positioned below the seat having openings to receive air from the toilet bowl and an outlet from the air chamber to direct the contaminated air to the cartridge filter member for deodorizing by activated charcoal filtering.
Still one further object of this invention is to provide a toilet stool ventilating means which may be attached directly to the toilet stool or operated remotely and functioning only when weight is placed on the seat, thus transferring a minimal amount of air.
Various other objects, advantages and features of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following discussion, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. I is a perspective view of a conventional toilet stool structure with portions of the seat member removed for clarity and having the filter element means of a preferred specific embodiment of this invention attached thereto;

The following is a discussion and description of preferred specific embodiments of the improved toilet stool ventilating means of the invention, such being made with reference to the drawings whereupon the same reference numerals are used to indicate the same or similar parts and/or structure. It is to be understood that such discussion and description not to unduly limit the scope of the invention.
The improved toilet stool ventilating means of this invention as disclosed herein includes three primary preferred specific embodiments, namely, (1 a filter element means placed beside and towards the rear of the toilet stool l0, (2) a filter element means placed beside the toilet bowl l2; and (3) a filter element means located remotely from the toilet stool 10.
Referring to the drawings in detail and in particular to FIGS. ll, 6 and 8, this invention is shown as installed in a conventional type water closet or toilet stool having a toilet bowl 16 mounted on a supporting surface 18 and a flush tank 21) mounted on the rear portion of the bowl equipped with a bandle 22 for control of flushing of the bowl 116. The bowl Id inchides an integrally formed bowl-shaped water section 19 the upper open periphery of which defines a rim section 24 having a seat member 26 pivotally attached by a hingelilre attachment 28 to the rear thereof and substantially covering the rim section 24, also the bowl 16 forms the support for the flushing tank 20.
As shown generally in FIGS. 1, 6 and 8, the improved toilet stool ventilating means of this invention includes an air chamber means 3 attached to the underside of the toilet seat 26; a filter element means 32 and conduit means 34 connecting the air chamber means 36.
The air chamber means is of a generally annular shape and conforms generally to the specific shape of the toilet seat 26. The desirably inflexible air chamber 26 is of a general rectangular cross section, and has its upper side attached to the bottom side of the seat 26, holes 36 located in the bottom side of air chamber means 30 for accepting air into said chamber, and an outwardly extending flange section 33 the outlet from the air chamber. The air chamber outlet 38 located on the side portion of the air chamber means 30 is preferably integrally formed with the air chamber means 30 and is attached to the conduit means 34. The air chamber means 30 is attached to the seat 26 such that space is provided between it and the rim section 24 of the toilet bowl 16, such space being necessary for the proper intake of air into the air chamber means 30 and to provide sufficient motion of the toilet seat 26 to operate the switch means of the filter element means 32 which is explained hereinafter.
The filtering element 32 shown in one of its preferred specific embodiments in FIG. 3, includes generally a housing 49 with attachments for mounting from above 42 and below 44; inlet 46 and outlet 48 sections; a cartridge filter member 50 and air moving means 52 which provides the means of passing air through the filter element means. The filter element cartridge 59 contains filtering material such as activated charcoal 51 in interconnected compartments defined by baffle plates 53 and has an inlet section 55 and outlet section 57. In certain preferred specific embodiments the switch means 54 is included within the housing 46.
The switch means 54 includes a momentary contact type switch member 56 connecting wires 58 attached to the powering means 60; and a plunger 62 which is activated by a springloaded plunger means 64 which rests against the housing 40 and passes through the resilient member 66 which surrounds the inlet section 46. The switch means is activated by compression of the resilient member 66 in the lateral direction against the housing 40 by the conduit means 34 which in turn moves the spring-loaded plunger 64 and the other plunger 62 to engage the switch 56 and operate the powering means 60. The resilient member 66 can be conveniently made of sponge rubber or a material with similar properties. The air moving means blower 52 preferably operates only when the resilient member is compressed, this is normally when weight is applied downward on the seat 26, by a person using the water closet.
Another preferred specific embodiment of this invention employs a filter element means similar to that described, supra, but with members arranged such that filtering means 32 is mounted beside the toilet bowl 16. The installation of this embodiment is shown in FIG. 6 and the filter element means in FIG. 5. The filter element is arranged with the inlet section 46 and switch 54 located in the top of the housing 40 above the cartridge filter 50 and blower 52, and it is preferably mounted on the toilet stool by attachments on the bottom 44 and the rear 45.
The filter element 32 is located remotely from the toilet stool M in still another preferred specific embodiment of this invention shown in FIG. 8. The structure of the filter element 32 is generally similar to that shown in FIG. 3 except the switch is located within the air chamber 30 attached to the seat 26 and is connected to the filtering means 32 by an electrical wire 33 passing through the conduit 34- and the flexible conduit which is attached to the filter element housing by a flange 3'7 on the inlet. The switch of my copending application, supra, works very well.
In the use and operation of the toilet stool ventilating means of this invention the air chamber 30 is attached to the under surface of the seat 26 of a conventional toilet stool. The filter element 32 is connected to the toilet stool directly or remotely located therefrom. Application of weight to the seat 26 causes its rotation about its pivotal attachment 28 to the toilet bowl 16 which engages the switch means to operate blower 52 that withdraws air from the toilet bowl 16, passes it through the filter member 50 and discharges it into the atmosphere. The standard electrical conductor means 68 when placed within a conventional l lO-volt household-type outlet provides electrical energy to the switching and powering means.
When the filter element 32 is located beside and to the rear of the toilet bowl 163, as shown generally in FIGS. 1 and 2, the housing 40 is supported from the top by an attachment 42 and a support member or brace 70; attached under the pivotal mounting 28 of the seat 26; and the housing 40 is supported from the bottom attachment 44 by a fioor brace or support member 72. The filter element 32 is supported to be generally rigid so that it can sustain the force of compression of the resilient member 66 by the generally inflexible conduit 34 when the seat 26 is rotated to the downward operating position. Likewise, when the filter element 32 is mounted beside the toilet bowl l6, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, it is supported by attachments on the rear 45 by brace 70 and from below 44 by floor brace 72 sufficiently to sustain compression of the resilient member 66 from above by the seat 26 when rotated to the operating position. If the filter element means is located in a room separated from the toilet stool 14 it can be mounted on the wall 74, or like structure as shown in FIG. 8. In such a configuration the switch means is located in the air chamber 30 and connected to the filter element 32 by an electrical wire. When the seat is rotated downward to the operating position, the switch means is directly engaged by motion of the stops touching the rim of the bowl 24.
It is seen that the improved toilet stool ventilating means of this invention provides a compact unit structure that is readily connectable to conventional toilet stools and does not give them an unsightly appearance. It is also seen that the improved toilet stool ventilating means of this invention is simple and efficient in operation, relatively easy to manufacture and install on conventional toilet stools.
It will become apparent from the foregoing description of preferred specific embodiments of this invention that it provides an effective and efficient means of removing offensive odors from the immediate area as required and is easily adaptable to conventional toilet stools as space and vanity requirements dictate.
While the invention has been described in connection with preferred specific embodiments thereof, it will be understood that this description is intended to illustrate the invention defined by the following claims.
Iclaim:
1. in a toilet stool mounted on a supporting surface and having a generally annular seat connected pivotally to the toilet bowl thereof in a fashion to cover the upper rim of said bowl when in lowered position, and a means connected and operable to supply flushing liquid thereto, the improvement being a ventilating means comprising:
a. a generally annular air chamber having openings therein to receive air from said toilet bowl and mountable between said seat and said upper rim of said bowl and adjacent the rim thereof, and an outlet therein to transmit air therefrom;
b. a housed filter element having an inlet and an outlet and an insert opening having easily removable closure means, air moving means having powering means mounted in said filter element and adapted in operation to pass air through said filter element from said inlet and out said outlet, and an easily replaceable filter cartridge having filtering material therein and an inlet and an outlet and placeable within said filter element through said insert opening therein between said filter element inlet and outlet and in the air stream-produced by said air moving means in operation with said inlet of said filter cartridge in position to receive air from said filter element inlet and said outlet of said filter cartridge'positioned to discharge air to said filter element outlet, said filter element having supporting partition means therein for said filter cartridge, and said filter cartridge having baffles transverse the air flow therethrough to provide back and forth air flow through the filtering material therein, said filter element being adapted in operation to receive air through said inlet of same, pass same through said filtering material in said filter element, deodorize said air and pass said resulting deodorized air out said outlet in said filter cartridge and out said outlet in said filter element;
c. conduit means connectable to said air chamber outlet and said inlet means on said filter element adapted to convey air from said air chamber to said filter element to filter same; and
d. switch means operably connected to said powering means and said seat whereby pressure exerted on said seat operates said switch means to activate said air moving means.
2. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein:
a. said housed filter element has said switch means mounted within the housing thereof connected to means on said filter element inlet, said switch means actuatable by movement of said means on said filter element inlet; and
b. said conduit means is connectable to said air chamber outlet and said means on said filter element inlet and is of a material rigid enough to convey force from said air chamber to said means on said inlet of said filter means to result in closing and switch means and thereby activating said powering means.
3. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein:
a. the housing of said filter element has a generally rectangular boxlike external shape with elongated sidewalls and having a top closure member extending over the upper edge of the sidewalls and being easily removable from said housing and having a bottom closure member fixed in place;
b. said housing having said filter element inlet circular in pattern and located in the upper portion of one sidewall of said housing, and said filter element outlet rectangular in pattern and located in the lower portion of another said sidewall opposite said inlet;
c. said housing having mounting means generally centered on the top thereof and on the bottom thereof providing means for attachment of said housing to said toilet stool; and
d. said housing having two principle compartments, an upper compartment containing said outlet, said switch means and said filter cartridge, and a lower compartment containing said air moving means and said filter element outlet.
i. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein:
a. said housing having said filter element cartridge contained in said upper compartment thereof extending completely across said housing transversely and substantially across said housing in the opposite direction;
b. said filter element cartridge having an inlet section generally aligned with said filter element inlet and having gas passageways through said filtering material defined by substantially parallel and interconnected rectangular compartments extending transversely through said filtering element material thereby directing air through said gas passageways, and exiting said filtering element material through said outlet section in the bottom of said filter element cartridge into said air moving means, and both said filter cartridge inlet and outlet sections having a mesh screen covering to retain said filtering material; and
c. said means on said filter element inlet being an open ended resilient member there around generally cylindrical in cross section, enclosing a plunger means which engages switch means within said housing upon movement of said conduit means by occupation of said seat.
5. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein:
a. said housing of said filter element having a rectangular boxlike external shape with parallel elongated sidewalls and having a top closure member extending over the upper edge of the sidewalls and being easily removable from said housing, and having a bottom closure member fixed in place;
said housing having said filter element inlet generally centered on said top section, and said filter element outlet located in the lower portion of a sidewall of said housing;
0. said housing having a mounting means generally centered on the sidewall normally facing the rear of said toilet stool and another such mounting means generally centered at the bottom closure of said housing; and
d. said housing having two principle compartmental divisions, an upper compartment containing said filter element inlet, said switch means and said filter cartridge, and a lower compartment containing said air moving means and said filter element outlet.
6. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein:
a. said housing having said filter element cartridge contained in the upper portion thereof and extending to all sidewalls having vertical baffle portions extending transversely therethrough defining a plurality of interconnected passageways;
b. said filter cartridge having an inlet to said passageways on its upper surface thereby accepting air from said filter element inlet and directing it through said passageways and filtering material to an outlet therefrom on its lower surface to said air moving means, and both said filter cartridge inlet and outlet having a mesh screen covering to retain said filtering material; and
c. said means on said filter element inlet being an open ended resilient member generally cylindrical in cross section and enclosing a plunger means engageable with said switch means upon movement of said conduit means causable by occupation of said seat.
. The ventilating means as described in claim 1, wherein:
said filter element is located generally remote from said toilet stool and connectable thereto by a flexible conduit means attachable to said air chamber outlet;
b. said air chamber having said switch means mounted thereon and connectable to said powering means by electrical wire within said flexible conduit means and activatable on downward movement of said seat; and
c. said filter element housing having an elongated rectangular boxlike appearance with generally parallel vertical sidewalls and having a slightly elongated rectangular horizontal cross section and having sidewalls attached with a bottom member and having an easily removable top member.
8. The ventilating means as described in claim 1, wherein:
a. said filter element is located remote and attached to a wall or like surface nearby said toilet stool with said filter element placed on the distant side thereof;
b. said flexible conduit means attached with said air chamber outlet and passing through said wall and attached to said filter element mounted thereon;
c. said filter element has a mounting attachment and filter elementinlet positioned on the sidewalls of said housing adjacent said separating wall and having said filter element outlet located on the opposite sidewall of said housing; and
d. said housing containing within, said filter element cartridge having transverse partitions to direct said airstream back and forth through said filter element cartridge and said cartridge having an inlet to receive air from said filter element inlet and an outlet to pass air from said cartridge to said air moving means from which said airstream is directed out said filter element outlet into the adjacent a mosphere.
9. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein:
a. said housing filter element is positioned relatively alongside said toilet stool structure and to the rear of said air chamber outlet and connectable thereto by a generally inflexible conduit means attached to said air chamber outlet;
b. said housing mountable on said toilet stool by means of a support member attached to the top section of said housing and connectable to said toilet stool structure to the pivotal attachment of said seat to said toilet stool and said housing having another structure support member attached to the bottom thereof and extending to the floor or like supporting surface of said toilet stool structure; and
c. said filter element powering means obtains electrical energy through a standard electrical wire and plug means connectable to household-type outlets, with said powering means operable upon activation of said switch means by movement of said seat causable by its occupation which thereby moves said conduit means toward said housing and directly engaging said switch means.
10. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein:
a. said housed filter element is positioned alongside said toilet stool structure directly below said air chamber outlet and connectable thereto;
. said housing is mountable on said toilet stool structure by means of a support member attachable to the rear sidewall of said housing and extending to the pivotal connection of the toilet stool structure and said seat, also said housing is supported from below by another support member extending from the floor or like supporting structure of said toilet stool structure to the bottom of said housing; and
. said filter element powering means of said filtering ele-
Claims (10)
1. In a toilet stool mounted on a supporting surface and having a generally annular seat connected pivotally to the toilet bowl thereof in a fashion to cover the upper rim of said bowl when in lowered position, and a means connected and operable to supply flushing liquid thereto, the improvement being a ventilating means comprising: a. a generally annular air chamber having openings therein to receive air from said toilet bowl and mountable between said seat and said upper rim of said bowl and adjacent the rim thereof, and an outlet therein to transmit air therefrom; b. a housed filter element having an inlet and an outlet and an insert opening having easily removable closure means, air moving means having powering means mounted in said filter element and adapted in operation to pass air through said filter element from said inlet and out said outlet, and an easily replaceable filter cartridge having filtering material therein and an inlet and an outlet and placeable within said filter element through said insert opening therein between said filter element inlet and outlet and in the air stream produced by said air moving means in operation with said inlet of said filter cartridge in position to receive air from said filter element inlet and said outlet of said filter cartridge positioned to discharge air to said filter element outlet, said filter element having supporting partition means therein for said filter cartridge, and said filter cartridge having baffles transverse the air flow therethrough to provide back and forth air flow through the filtering material therein, said filter element being adapted in operation to receive air through said inlet of same, pass same through said filtering material in said filter element, deodorize said air and pass said resulting deodorized air out said outlet in said filter cartridge and out said outlet in said filter element; c. conduit means connectable to said air chamber outlet and said inlet means on said filter element adapted to convey air from said air chamber to said filter element to filter same; and d. switch means operably connected to said powering means and said seat whereby pressure exerted on said seat operates said switch means to activate said air moving means.
2. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein: a. said housed filter element has said switch means mounted within the housing thereof connected to means on said filter element inlet, said switcH means actuatable by movement of said means on said filter element inlet; and b. said conduit means is connectable to said air chamber outlet and said means on said filter element inlet and is of a material rigid enough to convey force from said air chamber to said means on said inlet of said filter means to result in closing and switch means and thereby activating said powering means.
3. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein: a. the housing of said filter element has a generally rectangular boxlike external shape with elongated sidewalls and having a top closure member extending over the upper edge of the sidewalls and being easily removable from said housing and having a bottom closure member fixed in place; b. said housing having said filter element inlet circular in pattern and located in the upper portion of one sidewall of said housing, and said filter element outlet rectangular in pattern and located in the lower portion of another said sidewall opposite said inlet; c. said housing having mounting means generally centered on the top thereof and on the bottom thereof providing means for attachment of said housing to said toilet stool; and d. said housing having two principle compartments, an upper compartment containing said outlet, said switch means and said filter cartridge, and a lower compartment containing said air moving means and said filter element outlet.
4. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein: a. said housing having said filter element cartridge contained in said upper compartment thereof extending completely across said housing transversely and substantially across said housing in the opposite direction; b. said filter element cartridge having an inlet section generally aligned with said filter element inlet and having gas passageways through said filtering material defined by substantially parallel and interconnected rectangular compartments extending transversely through said filtering element material thereby directing air through said gas passageways, and exiting said filtering element material through said outlet section in the bottom of said filter element cartridge into said air moving means, and both said filter cartridge inlet and outlet sections having a mesh screen covering to retain said filtering material; and c. said means on said filter element inlet being an open ended resilient member there around generally cylindrical in cross section, enclosing a plunger means which engages switch means within said housing upon movement of said conduit means by occupation of said seat.
5. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein: a. said housing of said filter element having a rectangular boxlike external shape with parallel elongated sidewalls and having a top closure member extending over the upper edge of the sidewalls and being easily removable from said housing, and having a bottom closure member fixed in place; said housing having said filter element inlet generally centered on said top section, and said filter element outlet located in the lower portion of a sidewall of said housing; c. said housing having a mounting means generally centered on the sidewall normally facing the rear of said toilet stool and another such mounting means generally centered at the bottom closure of said housing; and d. said housing having two principle compartmental divisions, an upper compartment containing said filter element inlet, said switch means and said filter cartridge, and a lower compartment containing said air moving means and said filter element outlet.
6. The ventilating means as described in claim 2, wherein: a. said housing having said filter element cartridge contained in the upper portion thereof and extending to all sidewalls having vertical baffle portions extending transversely therethrough defining a plurality of interconnected passageways; b. said filter cartridge having an inlet to said passageways on its uppeR surface thereby accepting air from said filter element inlet and directing it through said passageways and filtering material to an outlet therefrom on its lower surface to said air moving means, and both said filter cartridge inlet and outlet having a mesh screen covering to retain said filtering material; and c. said means on said filter element inlet being an open ended resilient member generally cylindrical in cross section and enclosing a plunger means engageable with said switch means upon movement of said conduit means causable by occupation of said seat.
7. The ventilating means as described in claim 1, wherein: a. said filter element is located generally remote from said toilet stool and connectable thereto by a flexible conduit means attachable to said air chamber outlet; b. said air chamber having said switch means mounted thereon and connectable to said powering means by electrical wire within said flexible conduit means and activatable on downward movement of said seat; and c. said filter element housing having an elongated rectangular boxlike appearance with generally parallel vertical sidewalls and having a slightly elongated rectangular horizontal cross section and having sidewalls attached with a bottom member and having an easily removable top member.
8. The ventilating means as described in claim 1, wherein: a. said filter element is located remote and attached to a wall or like surface nearby said toilet stool with said filter element placed on the distant side thereof; b. said flexible conduit means attached with said air chamber outlet and passing through said wall and attached to said filter element mounted thereon; c. said filter element has a mounting attachment and filter element inlet positioned on the sidewalls of said housing adjacent said separating wall and having said filter element outlet located on the opposite sidewall of said housing; and d. said housing containing within, said filter element cartridge having transverse partitions to direct said airstream back and forth through said filter element cartridge and said cartridge having an inlet to receive air from said filter element inlet and an outlet to pass air from said cartridge to said air moving means from which said airstream is directed out said filter element outlet into the adjacent atmosphere.
9. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein: a. said housing filter element is positioned relatively alongside said toilet stool structure and to the rear of said air chamber outlet and connectable thereto by a generally inflexible conduit means attached to said air chamber outlet; b. said housing mountable on said toilet stool by means of a support member attached to the top section of said housing and connectable to said toilet stool structure to the pivotal attachment of said seat to said toilet stool and said housing having another structure support member attached to the bottom thereof and extending to the floor or like supporting surface of said toilet stool structure; and c. said filter element powering means obtains electrical energy through a standard electrical wire and plug means connectable to household-type outlets, with said powering means operable upon activation of said switch means by movement of said seat causable by its occupation which thereby moves said conduit means toward said housing and directly engaging said switch means.
10. The ventilating means of claim 1, wherein: a. said housed filter element is positioned alongside said toilet stool structure directly below said air chamber outlet and connectable thereto; b. said housing is mountable on said toilet stool structure by means of a support member attachable to the rear sidewall of said housing and extending to the pivotal connection of the toilet stool structure and said seat, also said housing is supported from below by another support member extending from the floor or like supporting structure of said toilet stool structure To the bottom of said housing; and c. said filter element powering means of said filtering element means obtains electrical energy through a standard electrical wire and plug means connectable to household type outlets with said powering means operable upon downward movement of said seat, normally upon its occupation, having said switch means activated by contact of said air chamber outlet with a plunger means located alongside said filter element inlet and directly engaging said switch means.
