SPECIFICATION forniing part of Letters Patent No. 355,817, dated February l, 1887.
Application filed .ugust M, iESS.
Serial No. 210.507. (No model.)
To all whom it Tiwy concern.-
Be it known that i, DANIEL K. Bin-minier, e citizen of the United States, residing et Gaines, in the county of Tiogal and State of Pennsylvanie, have invented certain new sind useful Improvements in Honey/'Sections for BceHives; and I do hereby decla-re that the following is s full,` cleeigzind exact description of the suine. reference being had to the ennexed drawings, making n pir-rt of this speci ficntion, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is 2L perspective vien' of my invention; Fig. 2, n longitudinal section thereof, Fig. 3, e transverse section; Fig. e, n. perspective view in detail of one of the division-boards, dnd Fig. 5 :i similar view of one oi' the rings forming the chamber between the division-boards.
The present invention has for its object to provide o. honey box or section for bee-hives; and it consists in the details of construction, substantially es shown in the drawings, and hereinafter described und claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents ny bose er suitable support, which is provided with u series of removable division boards, B. between `which are clamped rings C, which forni chambers communicating with each other through openings cin the divisionbonrds B. The several rings are held together by ineens oi the end sections, D, which tit down upon the buse or support A, and are retained against the outer ones of the rings C by Ineens ci' spring clompingrods E, hooked :it their cuter ends, es shown at b, to engage with grooves c on the ends of the sections D.
The rings muy be of any suitable number and arranged in parallel rows, each ring et its top having an opening, d, which constitutes an entrance for the bees to the interior of the rino. The base or surqiorte` is raised above the bottoni of end strips, e, so as to forni e space bet-Ween the top of the hive and the under side of the hase or support, so that the bees can have free access to the chambers formed by the rings C and the divisionbonrds B, openingsfbeing formed in the lower edges of the division-boards, so as to form passages to the chambers, seid openings being directly over similar openings, g, in the base or support A, thereby forminga continuous passage from under the base or support to euch chamber. rIhe end sections, D, have openings it, covered with glass panels, so as to see the interior of the end chambers.
A iongitudiniil clump, F, which rests upon the upper edge of the division-boards B and end sections, D, holds them firmly down upon the buse or support A by means of the spring arms G, which are connected t0 the ends of the clamp nud to the end strips, c, in any well known manner that will ad mit the clamp being disconnected i'roin the springerms when the several parts of the device are required to be disconnected from each other for the purpose of cleaning.
Having new fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure byV Letters Patent, is-
'In ahoney-box for beehives. a suitable bese provided with openings, es shown, a series of division-boards formed with openings at or neer their centers, und also at their lower edges, and suitable end sections, in combination with s series of rings having openings at their tops and located between the divisionboerds to forni honey-chambers, spring clampingrods for holding the end sections against the rings, and e. clamp and spring-arms for holding the end sections end divisionboards down upon the buse or support, substantially as end for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my neme in the presence of tivo Witnesses.
DANIEL K. BARNHART.
