DOUBLE-PRESSURE PERCOLATO R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 356,087, dated January 18, 1887.
Application filed June 8, 1885. Serial No. 168,076., (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN S. ANDERSON, of Utica, in the county of Oneida and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pressure-Perlocators;
and I do hereby declare that the following is a afull, clear, and exact description of the in- Heretofore the process of filtering consisted chiefly in packing the herbs or drugs carefully in the bottom of a receptacle and adding the liquid, which by gravity percolates downward and is discharged at the bottom. I am also aware that water or liquid pressure has been used in percolators; but so far as I am aware, variations in the closeness of the packing of the drugs or herbs has been the only device used for counterbalancing or counteracting the pressure.
In the accompanying drawings similar letters of reference refer to corresponding parts throughout the several views.

Having described my invention in relation to the figures illustrated in the accompanying drawings, 1 will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the letters marked" thereon.
In the drawings my improved percolator is shown mounted on frame A, but which may be mounted on any other suitable device for supporting the same.

The combination of the cylindrical percolating-reservoir having one end open and the opposite end partially closed and provided with an outlet, the piston-head adjustable within the reservoir,having an annular groove provided with rubber packing, with means for tightening or loosening the same for the and the stoppurpose ofaccom modating the adjustment and tightening the same, and the flexible tube connected to the discharge end of the reservoir.
5. The combination of the cylindrical percolating-reservoir having one end open and the opposite end partially closed and provided with an outlet, the piston head adjustable within the reservoir, having an annular groove with an outlet, the piston -head adjustable,
within the reservoir, provided with means for packing and adjusting the piston, and the liquid-reservoir connected with flexible tube, with the adjustable piston, substantially as described.
7. The combination of the cylindrical percolating-reservoir having one end open and the opposite end partially closed,the discharge end being controlled by a stop-cock, the piston adjustable within the reservoir, provided with means for packing and adjusting the piston, and the vertically-adjustable liquid-reservoir connected with the adjustable piston, with flexible tube.
8. The combination of the cylindrical percolating reservoir having one end open and the opposite end partially closed, the flexible tube connected to the discharge end discharging into a vertically-adjustable receptacle, the piston adjustable within the reservoir, with means for adjusting and packing the same, and the verticallyadjustable reservoir connected with the adjustable pistonhead, with flexible tube for producing maceration of the solvent under pressure.
9. The combination of the tubular percolating-reservoir, substantially of the same diameter, one end open and the opposite end par tially closed, and,tl1e piston-head adjustable therein, with means for adjusting and packing the same.
