SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,919, dated November 2, 1886.

Application filed February 526, 1886. Serial No. 193.335. (No model.)

To aZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OLOF J OHANSON, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Keys for Stem-'Windi-ng Watches, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,

in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts'in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a face view'of a stem-winding watch, and showing a key applied to it. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the key.

The object of this invention is to provide keys for stem-winding watches, by the use of which the said watches can be easily and quickly wound.

The invention consists in a key constructed with a ring and a U-shaped loop bent three times at right angles laterally, to adapt it to receive and engage with the crown of a stemwinding watch, as will be hereinafter fully described.

A represents the watch-case, B the stationary stem, and F the guard-ring hinged to the said stem.

G is the rotary crown, which is attached to a rotary stem or shaft connected with the winding mechanism in the ordinary manner.

The key is made with a ring, D, of such a size as to readily receive a finger, and with a U- shaped loop, E, which is bent three times at right angles laterally, as shown in Figs/1 and 2, to form a recess, which can be passed over the crown G, and will grasp the said crown, so that it will be turned to wind up the watch by turning the said key. y

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A key for stem-winding watches, constructed with a ring, D, and a U-shaped loop, E,

bent :three times at right angles laterally, substantially as herein shown and. described, whereby it is adapted to receive and engage with the crown of a stem-winding watch, as set forth.
