UNITED STATES PATENT (DFFICE.
WILLIAM o. DALZELL, oF SOUTH EGREMONT, MASSACHUSETTS.
MACHINE FoR"woRK|NG Ame-Boxes.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent; No. 351 692, dated October 26, 1886.
Application filed June 28, 1886.V
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. DALznLL, of South Egremont, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement Pertaining to Machines for Working on Axle- Boxes, of which the following is adescription, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, where A Figure l is what may be called a side view of my device with the axle-box, which is un` der operation, cut in central longitudinal section. -Fig. 2 is a detail view in horizontal cross-section on the plane x w. Fig. 3 is a detail view in horizontal crosssection on the l line y y.
This is a machine or device intended for Working on the inside and outside of an axlebox at the same time.
The letter a denotes what may well be termed the boringhead,7 bearing a pintle, a, intended to be inserted into an upright revolving shaft, and thereby given proper rotation. The letter b denotes a reamer for Working on the inside of the axle-box. It is held into the boring-head by the Set-screw b. 0n the Serial No. 206,335. (No model.)
upper part of the reamer b is carried the socket-,ring c, having on the inside sockets for boring and cutting tools d, which are held to place by the set-screws c. Asindieated in the drawings, the reamer b is working on the interior of the body while the tools d are work ing on the inside and end of the enlarged part of thebox.
The letters e denote tool-holders fixed to the boring-head a, which carry tools f, which work upon and, finish the outside of the enlarged part of the box atthe same time that the work ou the inside is in progress.
I claim as my improvement- 1. In combination, the interior reamer or boring-tool b,boringl1ead a,toolholders e, and tools f,for Working on the exterior of the box, all subtantially as described, and for the purpose set forth. 1
2.y In combination, the realner or bornq tool b, the tools d, the boring-head a,the toolholders e, and the tools f, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
WM. C. DALZELL.
