ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention consists of a piece. of pipe having a separator therein that will prevent the air that flows in one side of the pipe from mixing with the water that flows in the opposite side and lower portion of the same pipe which is provided with an externally threaded nipple in that end of the pipe through which the air flows, the nipple being adapted to be screwed into one end of a typical electric arc torch, such as is used, for cutting and welding "metal and the like. The opposite end of the aforesaid pipe being internally threaded to receive the externally threaded end of a typical electric arc lead through which water flows to a drain, the water and the air that flows through the other end of the aforesaid piece o pipe cooperating to cool the arc torch and arc lead.
It is the principal object of this invention to provide an adapter for converting the cooling of electric are lead and torch from air to water cooling by means of a single piece of pipe having a divider located therein, as will hereinafter be described.
Another object of this invention is to provide an adapter for converting the cooling of electric arc lead and torch from air to water cooling that will increase the efiiciency of the torch by keeping it cooler than is otherwise possible.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an adapter for converting the cooling of electric are lead and torch from air to water cooling by means of a single piece of pipe that will not in any way interfere with the manipulation of the torch.
Other objects, uses, and advantages of this invention will no doubt become apparent upon a study of the following detailed description of this invention and the appended drawing.

FIG. 1 is a pictorial view of this invention, ready to be connected to an are lead and torch which are also shown pictorially.
FIG. 2 is a sectional view of this invention, taken substantially along line 22 of FIGURE 1, and viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows.
In the two views of the drawing, like parts of this invention are indicated by like reference numbers.
The reference number 5 indicates this invention in its entirety.
The invention consists of a single piece of pipe 6 having a separator 7 located and fixed therein. The aforesaid separator 7 may be made integral with the aforesaid piece of pipe 6 which is the body of this novel invention.
The aforesaid piece of pipe 6 is internally threaded in each end thereof. An externally threaded plug 8, having centrally located internal threads in which is screwed 3,463,225 Patented Aug. 26, 1969 "ice a nipple 9, is screwed into the end 10 thereof, as one can clearly see by looking at either of the two aforesaid views of this invention, illustrated in the appended drawing. A regular electric arc torch 11 is screwed onto the aforesaid nipple 9 while one end of a regular are lead 12 is screwed into the lower end of the aforesaid piece of pipe 6.
An externally threaded L-shaped air hose connector 13 is screwed into an internally threaded opening in that portion of the wall of the aforesaid piece of pipe 6 that is the air chamber 14 of this invention, while an externally threaded L-shaped water hose connector 15 is screwed into an internally threaded opening in that portion of the wall of the aforesaid piece of pipe 6 that is the water chamber 16 of this invention.
The way in which this invention is used is so well illustrated in FIGURE 1 of the accompanying drawing as to need no further explanation for even those having little or no experience with equipment of the art. However, the following explanation of the use of the device is given. Instead of connecting the arc torch 11 and arc lead 12 directly together as is the usual practice, the arc torch 11 is connected to one end of my adapter 5, the are lead 12 is connected to the other end of my adapter 5, a source of compressed air is connected to air hose connector 13 and a source of water pressure is connected to water hose connector 15. The operator then proceeds to weld in the usual way except that the arc torch, adapter and arc lead are cooled by the compressed air and water flowing therethrough.
This invention can, of course, be made in any desired size, and may be changed and/or modified in any way one may like in so long as the changes and/or modifications fall within the scope and intent of the appended claims.
What I now claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An adapter for converting the cooling of electric arc lead and torch from air to water cooling, comprising a piece of pipe, and air hose connector having one end secured in an opening in one portion of said piece of pipe, a water hose connector having one end secured in an opening in another portion of said piece of pipe, a separator secured within said piece of pipe and separating said portions thereof, means for securing one end of the said piece of pipe to an electric arc torch; and means for securing the other end of the said piece of pipe to one end of an electric are lead.
2. The invention of claim 1, wherein the said separator is a transverse divider located intermediate the ends of said piece of pipe.
3. The invention of claim 1, wherein the said piece of pipe is divided into an air and a water chamber by the said separator, that end of the said piece of pipe which contains the air chamber having structural means of securing the said piece of pipe to the said electric arc torch.
4. The invention of claim 3, wherein the said means of securing one end of the said piece of pipe to the said electric arc torch is by an externally threaded plug that is screwed into the said piece of pipe, the said plug having an externally threaded nipple extending outward from the center thereof, the said nipple being screwed into the said electric torch.
