A471 13/00 U.S. Cl. 15-247 1 Claim ABSTRACT F THE DISCLOSURE A terry cloth for converting a broomhead to a mophead, the ends of the cover being in gathered stretchable condition so that the cover can be doubled over and stretched to tit various widths of broomheads. Snap fasteners are provided to hold the cover on the broomhead.
SPECIFICATION This invention relates to a mop cover for brooms.
An object of the invention is to provide an adjustable cover which may be readily attached to various width broomheads.
DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS FIG. l is a plan View of the mop cover in Hat condition.
FIG. 2 shows the mop cover doubled upon itself.
FIG. 3 shows the cover secured to a broomhead.
FIG. 4 `shows the device as it could be advertised.
A piece of terry or any absorbent cloth 1, that is about 30 inches lby 18 inches is placed upon a support. The opposed ends and sides of the cloth are hemmed. A 27 inch length of 1/2 inch elastic strip is cut into four pieces 6% inches long. The ends of the cloth are gathered at 2, 2 and strips of elastic 3, 4 are double stitched thereto to form a soft napped cloth of tapered halves. The ends are in a stretchable gathered condition. A second pair of elasice tic strips 5, 6 spaced inwardly 1/2 inch from the rst strips are stitched to the cloth. Four male size 4 snap buttons 7, are secured to the ends of the elastic strips 3, 5 to cooperate with four female snap receptacles 8, on the ends of the strips 4, 6. The mop cloth is doubled upon itself and draped over the broomhead. The snap fasteners are aligned and coupled to each other to maintain the cloth in place during use. As a result of the gathering of the ends of the cloth, the cloth may be used with various Widths of 'broomheads, the snaps anking the sides of the head.
The device may be advertised as in FIG. 4 and may be termed a Handy Hilda Hood.
I claim:
1. A cleaning cover for a broom comprised of an elongated soft nap cloth sheet gathered at opposite ends to form tapered halves, elastic tape means secured to said ends to maintain said ends in stretchable gathered condition and cof-operating means at said ends, operable to secure the ends together when said sheet is doubled over a broornhead, to maintain it in position thereon for use in cleaning.
