(Cl. 40-119) ABSTRACT 0F THE DISCLQSURE A calendar assembly comprising a support structure including a hanger member and a support panel. The hanger member, which includes laterally spaced arms extending therefrom, is mounted on a wall or support surface. The support panel, on the lower portion thereof includes a calendar and on the upper portion thereof indicia explaining the artistic features of pictorial sheets, which along with the support panel are hung from the hanger arms by means of apertures in the upper portions of the panel and sheets. When hung on the hanger arms, the pictorial sheets cover only the indicia and the fasteners used to attach the calendar to the support panel. The pictorial sheets may be changed at any time without disturbing the calendar `and vice versa.
This invention relates generally to calendar assemblies, and more particularly to an assembly including a supported calendar and associated illustrations.
Calendars commonly' include sheets of art illustrations and a tabular register of the days of the year. The illustrations are usually printed on the same sheet with the days of a given month. Thus, a calendar includes twelve sheets, one for each month, with art illustrations .and a tabulation of the days of the month on each sheet. The twelve sheets are usually stapled or clamped together to form a calendar assembly, so that the calendar and art illustrations may be suspended or otherwise mounted as an integral unit. Vshen a given month has passed, the sheet representing the old month is ripped from the calendar assembly to expose the sheet representing the new month. The sheet having the tabulation for the old month, and the associated art illustration, must be removed from the calendar assembly to expose the dates pertaining to the new month. The new art illustration, associated with the dates of the new month, will then be exposed. The sheet having the old calendar dates and art illustration is frequently discarded and thrown away.
The art illustration associated with a given month must be displayed for the entire month, since it is printed on the same sheet as the dates for that month. If the art illustration is not appealing to a particular viewer, he must endure the illustration until the month has passed, after which time the unappealing sheet can be discarded. Similarly, it' an art illustration associated with a given month is particularly appealing to the viewer, it must be discarded at the end of the month to expose the date tablulations associated with the new month, The prior art calendar assemblies, by having the art illustrations printed on the same sheet as the dates of the month, force the viewer to look at a series of .art illustrations, in a predetermined sequence, for a period of one month for each illustration.
Therefore, one of the objects of this invention is to provide a calendar assembly having art illustrations which can be viewed in any desired sequence.
Another object of this invention is to provide a calendar Iassembly having art illustrations which can be viewed for any desired length of time.
These and other objects and features of theinvention will become more apparent from a reading of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Referring now to the drawings in greater detail, a calendar assembly 1t), shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, includes a hanger member 1 2 which has three support arms or hooks 14 from which are suspended pictorial sheet members 16 which carry art prints or photographs. Positioned directly behind the pictorial sheets 16 is a support panel 18 which is also suspended from the support arms 14. The support panel 1S provides a firm backing member for a calendar or tabular register of dates 26'. The calendar or tabular register 2t) is connected to the support panel 18 by staples 22. Indicia 24 are placed on the support panel 18 directly above the calendar 20. The indicia 24 explains the artistic features illustrated in the art prints on the pictorial sheet members 1e.
Referring now to FIG. 2, it will be seen that when the support panel 18 and pictorial sheets 15 are suspended from the arms 14 of the hanger 12, the lower edge of the pictorial sheet members Will overlap the staples 22. Since the pictorial sheet members 16 are positioned in front of the support panel 18, it will be apparent that the pictorial sheet members 16 will conceal the unsightly staples 22 from view. In addition to covering the staples 22, the pictorial sheet member 16 will also cover the indicia 24 which explains the sheet members and the illustrations printed thereon.
The tabular register or calendar 20 comprises a series of sheets 25, which have been folded in the middle at 26, and stapled to the support panel 18. The sheets 25 are perforated or scored along the line 28 adjacent the staples 22. The tabular register 20 includes six sheets, folded at the middle, having twelve sections separated by perforations. Each of the twelve sections represents a month of the year. When the calendar is being used, the top sheet displays the dates of the present month tabulated in the center of the sheet, as shown at 3i) (see FGS. 1 and 3). The preceding month is indicated by indicia 32 to the left of the present month. The succeeding month is indicated by indicia 34 to the right of the present month. When the present month has passed, the top sheet of the tabular register 29 is torn at the perforations 28 and discarded. The next sheet on the register will then be exposed to View, a-nd will show the dates for the new month in large iigures in the central portion 3d of the sheet.
The support panel 18 is suspended from the support arms 14 by means of three longitudinally spaced apertures or holes 36 which engage the support arms 14, as shown in FIG. 6, to suspend the support panel 18 from the hanger 12. The support -panel 18 may be removed from the hanger 12 by first removing the pictorial sheet members 16 and then sliding the panel 18 off the support arms 14. Since the support panel 18 and its associated tabular register or calendar may be easily removed from the hanger 12, it will be apparent that the support panel 18 can be replaced annually. Thus the same hanger member 12 can be used for several years with different tabular registers 20 and support panels 18.

The hanger member 12 includes a support plate 44 from'which thev arms 14 extend and a display plate46. The support plate 44 is positioned beneath the display plate 46. The arm members 14 include a horizontally extending support or beam portion 48 which is integrally formed with the support plate 44 (see FIG. 6). The outermost end of the horizontally extending beam 48 is upturned to form a retaining tab 50. It should be noted, from an inspection of FIG. 5, that the retaining tabe 50 is positioned beneath and behind the display plate 46. Thus, the display plate 46 protects the tab 50 and the support arm 48 from catching on a surrounding object and being broken E.
The beam member 48 engages the upper edge portionv of the oblong apertures 36 in the support panel 1'8 and the upper edge portion of the apertures 42 in the pictorial sheet members 16. The retaining tabs 5,0` will engage the outermost surface of the pictorial sheet members 16. Thus the support arms 14 hold the sheet members 16 and, support panel 18 together on the beam member 48.
The pictorial sheet members 16 and support panel 18 may be easily disconnected from the support arms 14 by sliding the sheets upward and outward to disengage the apertures 36 and 42 from the retaining tab 50. While the support arms 14 permit the pictorial sheet members in` the support panel to be easily removed from the hanger 12, it will be apparent that the retaining tabs 50 prevent the sheet members and supporting panel from being accidentally disconnected from the support arms 14.
The display plate 46 is adapted to` receive advertising indicia and other printed decorations 5,2. The display plate 46 isl connected to the upper edge portion of the support plate by the sidewall 54 which extends substantially horizontally from the support plate 44. A second` horizontal sidewall 56 is connected to the upper edge portion ofthe display plate 46.

The two sidewalls 54and 56` and the support plate 46 are interconnected by thel end- Cil A connector housing 60 integrally formed with sidewall 56 (see FIG. 6) includes two substantially vertical sidewalls 62 and 64 which are interconnected by a horizontal wall member 66. The aperture defined by the sidewalls 62 and 64 and the horizontal wall 66 is suitable for enclosing the head and shank of a nail or other support member. Thus, the lightweight hanger 12, and the calendar assembly suspended therefrom, can be easily mounted on a wall by means of the support housing 60. In one specitic embodiment, the entire hanger member including the support panel 4 4, arms 14, and display panel 46 is made of a unitary plastic structure.
For purposes of affording a more complete understanding of the invention, it is advantageous now to provide a functional description of the mode in which the component parts cooperate. The calendar assembly 10 is supported from the hanger member 12 and the support panel 18. The support panel 18 is connected to the hanger member 12 by means of the apertures 36 which engage the larrns 1,4 of t-he hanger member 12. A calendar or tabular register of dates is connected by staples, or other suitable connection, to the panel 18. A perforated or scored line 28 permits the various sheets of the tabular register 20 to be easily removed from the register when the dates with which the particular sheet has been associated, has been passed.
The pictorial sheet members 16 are also connected to, the hanger member 12 by means of apertures 42. When the pictorial sheet members'16 have been suspended from the arms 14 by the apertures 42 the lower end of the sheet members will conceal the staples 22 of the calendar or tabular register 20. Since the pictorial sheet members 16 are independently connected to the support arms 14, it will be apparent that the sheets 16 may be interchanged with each other independently of the month disclosed by the tabular register 20. The pictorial sheet members 116 which are associated with a particular support panel 18, are described by the indicia 24 positioned on the upper part of the support panel 18.
The hanger member 12, which can be used for supporting the pictorial sheet members 16 and support panels without regardy to the year associated with the tabular register 2t), is composed of a unitary plastic structure'. The hanger member 12 has an outwardly projecting display plate 46 upon which suitable advertising material 52 is printed. The hanger member 12 includes a support housing 60 which engages a nail, or other support member, to suspend the hanger member 12 from the wall. Since the lhanger member 12 need` not be replaced annually, it will be apparentV that after the initial expense of purchasing a hanger member 12, the annual cost of a calendar assembly 10 will be reduced. If the pictorial sheet members 16 are not replaced annually, Vthe cost of a calendar assembly 10y can be still further reduced by replacing only the support panel 1S and the associated tabular register 20. The hanger 12 and pictorial sheet members 16 can also be used with the support panel 18 and tabular register associated with any given year.
While a particular embodiment of the invention has been shown, it should be understood that the invention is not limited thereto, since many modificati-ons may be made; and it is, therefore, contemplated'to cover by the appended claims any such modifications as fall within the true spirit and scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1V. AA calendar assembly comprising a support structure including-a hanger member anda support panel, a tabularv register of days, first mounting means, a plurality of pictorial sheet, members, and second mounting means for interchangeably connecting said pictorial sheet members to said support structure, said support panel being c onnected to said hanger member by said second mountingmeans, and said tabular register of days being connected to said support panel by said rst mounting means.,
2. A calendar assembly as set forthin claim 1 wherein,
said second mounting means includes laterally spaced apart arm means extending from said hanger member, and said support panel and pictorial sheet members have laterally spaced apart apertures for engaging said arm means to suspend said support panel and pictorial sheet members from said arm means.
3. A calendar assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said support panel has indicia identifying said pictorial sheet members.
4. A calendar assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first mounting means is positioned adjacent to an upper edge portion of said tabular register, and said pictorial sheet members are positioned above said tabular register and extend downwardly to overlap and conceal saidrst mounting means.

A calendar assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said second mounting means includes laterally spaced apart horizontally extending arm means connected to said hanger member, and said pictorial sheet members have laterally spaced aperture means for engaging said arm means to connect said pictorial sheet members to said arm means in a position overlapping and concealing said rst mounting means.
6. A calendar assembly as set forth in claim 5 wherein said support panel is positioned behind said pictorial sheet members and connected to said arm means, and said tabular register is connected to said support panel by said first mounting means.
7. A calendar assembly hanger member comprising: a support plate, laterally spaced apart arm means extending a rst distance outwardly from and formed integrally with said support plate, said arm means being adapted to support a calendar means, a display plate connected to an upper edge portion of said support plate, said display plate being positioned substantially parallel to said support plate and spaced outwardly from said support plate a second distance which is greater than said first distance, and indicia means positioned on said display plate.
8. A hanger member as set forth in claim 7 wherein said arm means includes beam members extending from said support plate at substantially right angles, said beam members having laterally extending support surfaces adapted to be engaged with laterally spaced apart aperture means in said calendar means, and retaining tabs connected to an end portion of said beam members to engage the outer surface of said calendar means to retain said calendar means on said arm means.

A hanger member as set forth in claim 8 wherein said display plate is connected to said support plate by a first sidewall means connected to a rst edge of said display plate and the upper edge of said support plate, a second sidewall means connected to a second opposite edge of said display plate, and a support engaging housing connected to said second sidewall means to enable said hanger member to be suspended from a support member.
10. A hanger member as set forth in claim 9 wherein said hanger member is a unitary structure formed of a plastic material.
