Description

Feb. 6, 1968 w. w. JENKINS 3,367,668
TOY STAGE COACH Filed Aug. 12, 1965 United States Patent This invention relates to mobile toys, and more particularly to an attachment for toy wagons.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a toy stage coach which will be authentic to the real stage coach and will fit onto a toy wagon without having to make unsightly holes to insert fasteners.
Another object of this invention is to provide a toy stage which will be made of wood and will provide hours of pleasure for the youngsters.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a toy stage coach which will be applied to the wagon by merely seating the base of the structure into the wagon which will 'allow easy removal thereof when desired.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is shown. However, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes all such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.
In the drawing:
FIGURE 1 is a side view of this invention shown in elevation.
FIGURE 2 is a front view of FIGURE 1.
FIGURE 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along the lines 33 of FIGURE 1 and viewed in the direction of the arrows.
FIGJU-RE 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along the lines 4-4 of FIGURE 3 and viewed in a direction of the arrows.
FIGURE 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along the lines 5-5 of FIGURE 3 and viewed in the direction of the arrows.
FIGURE 6 is an enlarged end view of one of the curtains shown in FIGURE 1.
According to this invention, a toy stage coach 10 is provided with parallel side walls 11 which are secured 3,367,668 Patented Feb. 6, 1968 to parallel end walls 12 thus forming a hollow stage coach structure. A hingable door 13 is pivotably secured within side walls 11 and a side of stage coach 10 and permits the youngsters to enter stage coach 10. A plurality of windows 14 in stage coach 10 are provided with internal curtains 15 which may be rolled downwards or upwards when desired. A rectangular configurated railing 16 is secured to the roof of stage coach 10 and provides storage space for various articles. The rectangular base 17 of stage coach 10 is received within the interior of a wagon and the shoulder 18 rests upon the upper edges of the sides of the wagon. The U-shap-ed opening 19 of stage coach 10 receives the side walls of the toy wagon and thus allows stage coach 10 to remain in position until lifted upwards and removed from the wagon.
What I now claim is:
1. In combination with a toy wagon including a substantially rectangular, vertically extending wall, a simulated stage coach comprising a hollow Wooden body and compartment means for carrying articles, said body including front, rear and sidewalls, and a substantially rectangular open bottom having dimensions slightly larger than said rectangular wall, a rectangular base member having dimensions slightly less than said rectangular wall, said base member spaced from and secured to the inside lower portions of said front, rear and side walls for forming 'a channel receiving said rectangular wall, whereby said simulated stage coach can be easily attached to or removed from said toy wagon.
