UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEQ FRANK REDDAWVAY, OF PENDLETON, COUNTY OF LANCASTER, ENGLAND.
WOVEN BELTING.
SPECIPICATIONfQrming part of Letters Patent No. 334,895, dated January 26, 1886.
Application filed April 16, [885. Serial No. 162,512. (Model) Patented in England January 10, 1884, No. 1,1l0.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, FRANK REDDAWAY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, and residing at Pendleton, county of Lancaster, England, belting-manufacturer, have invented an Improved Woven Belting, (for which I have obtained a patent in Great Britain, No. 1,110, January 10, 1884,)of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of certain improvements in the construction of Woven belting, such as is used in place of leather belting for transmitting rotary mot-ion. Such belting is usually made of cotton, canvas, ,01' sail-cloth. In some cases the belt has been woven com plete, so as not to require folding, cotton yarn being used; but the objection to this is its liability to stretch and its limited strength. In order, therefore, to obtain greater strength and less tendency to stretch, Isubstitute camelhair yarn in place ofaportion of cotton yarn.
The figure in the accompanying drawing is a perspective View of a portion of a belt embodying my invention, a representing the cotton warps, b the camel-hair warps, and d the weft-threads.
2. A woven belting having two sets of 0 warps, one of cotton and the other of camelhair, together with came1-hair wefts, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK REDDA\VAY.
