(Cl. 222479) This invention relates to bar equipment, and more particularly .to a new and improved storage and pouring device.
Specifically, the invention embraces a sanitary container and cap which when filled with fluids such as fruit juices for example may be refrigerated and stored indefinitely, and then brought out when use is desired, the cap removed and a specially designed and unique pouring spout put in place on the container and dispensing proceeded with. When empty the spout may be removed and the container easily washed in a sanitary manner along with the spout.
Heretofore a problem has existed in the bar field in connection with the opuring of various fluids, largely because of the lack of sanitary containers for such, it often being the custom to employ used liquor bottles for this purpose, which aside from being illegal, is dirty in that narrow-necked bottles of this type cannot be satisfactorily cleaned, at least with the facilities to be found at the usual bar.
An object of the instant invention is to provide a sanitary storage device for fruit juices and the like as used in bars.
Another object is to provide an improved removable pouring spout for such a device.
Another object is to make possible lightness of construction in a bar dispenser.
A still further object is to provide economy of manufacture therein.
Another object is to make possible simplicity in such a dispenser.
Another object is to facilitate pouring in a dispenser.
Another object is to make possible ease of cleansing and sanitation.
These and other objects made apparent during the further progress of this Specification are accomplished by said invention, a full and complete understanding of which is facilitated by reference to the drawing herein, in which:
FIG. 1 is a view in perspective of the instant device during a pouring operation;
FIG. 2 is an exploded View substantially in perspective showing the various elements of the invention, and
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view in vertical cross section of the pouring spout per se.
Referring now to the drawing, designates a container of desired capacity, preferably formed of plastic material and having substantially straight sides 11 terminating in screw threads 12 contemplated to receive threads 13 of a sanitary screw cap 14 which is normally placed upon 10 When such is filled with a suitable fluid, upon which the container may be placed in stacked relationship with similar devices under refrigeration.
Attention is now directed to pouring spout 15 of the instant invention which comprises a wider than usual neck piece 16 having interior threads 17 contemplated to engage threads 12 when the device is in operative position. Channel 18 of spout 15 narrows rapidly as it proceeds upwardly and makes an angular turn 19 as indicated in the drawing, terminating with a desired opening 20 through which the liquid being poured ultimately passes.
A small hollow air bleeder 21 is positioned within spout 15 for obvious purposes.
In operation a filled container 10 is removed from its storage point, cap 14 unscrewed and spout 15 firmly screwed into position on 10.
During the foregoing procedure, the enlarged area of 18-16 quickly accumulates a body of fluid sufficient to exert an increased pressure or head on the column of fluid emerging from the end 20 of the spout with the result that pouring is speeded up with attendant desirable results going to the efliciency of the entire bar operation. Air vent 21 contributes to the overall efliciency of pouring.
When container 10 has been emptied of the fruit juices, pre-mixed cocktails or other drinks which it may contain, simple syrup, or other fluid, the pouring spout is removed and the container then thoroughly washed in a suitable cleansing solution which is easily and thoroughly accomplished in a sanitary manner due to the straight sides of the container and lack of obstructions therein. On drying the bottle may be refilled, capped and stored as described heretofore.
While there has been described herein in some detail one form of the instant invention, it will be apparent that no limitation is intended or implied thereby, but on the contrary, the appended claims are to be accorded a construction, scope, and range of equivalents fully in keeping with the contribution to the art.
I claim:
1. A pouring spout of the type which is attached to the top of a liquid container and is utilized to control the flow of liquid from the container, said pouring spout comprising a cap including means for connecting said cap to a container, a neck extending upwardly from the central portion of said cap in open communication therewith, said neck being of substantially constant internal cross sectional area throughout a major portion of its length, a nozzle connected to the upper portion of said neck and extending upwardly and laterally from said neck to define a downwardly directed opening at its end remote from said neck, said nozzle and said neck defining at their area of connection an exterior indentation beneath said nozzle, said exterior indentation defining an interior protrusion which acts as a liquid restriction at said area of connection, said nozzle decreasing in internal cross sectional area along its length from said neck.
2. The invention of claim 1, wherein said nozzle further includes an air bleeder conduit along the upper portion thereof, remote from said interior protrusion.
3. The invention of claim 1 wherein said cap is integrally connected to said neck and includes a series of internally faced threads for connection to a liquid container.

Claims (1)
1. A POURING SPOUT OF THE TYPE WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE TOP OF A LIQUID CONTAINER AND IS UTILIZED TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF LIQUID FROM THE CONTAINER, SAID POURING SPOUT COMPRISING A CAP INCLUDING MEANS FOR CONNECTING SAID CAP TO A CONTAINER, A NECK EXTENDING UPWARDLY FROM THE CENTRAL PORTION OF SAID CAP IN OPEN COMMUNICATION THEREWITH, SAID NECK BEING OF SUBSTANTIALLY CONSTANT INTERNAL CROSS SECTIONAL AREA THROUGHOUT A MAJOR PORTION OF ITS LENGTH, A NOZZLE CONNECTED TO THE UPPER PORTION OF SAID NECK AND EXTENDING UPWARDLY AND LATERALLY FROM SAID NECK TO DEFINE A DOWNWARDLY DIRECTED OPENING AT ITS END REMOTE FROM SAID NECK, SAID NOZZLE AND SAID NECK DEFINING AT THEIR AREA OF CONNECTION AN EXTERIOR INDENTATION BENEATH SAID NOZZLE, SAID EXTERIOR INDENTATION DEFINING AN INTERIOR PROTRUSION
