Definitions
- the present invention has essentially for its object to avoid these drawbacks and is remarkable notably in that the cutting head according to the invention is carried by a support detachably mounted on the casing and that said head is provided with a cutter driving member adapted,
- the cutting head may thus be separated from the casing Without any disassembling step by effecting a very simple operation.
- the aforesaid support consists of a plate provided with guide means and positioning means co-acting with corresponding means provided on the casing.
- the aforesaid guide means consist of a pair of lateral flanges extending along two parallel opposite edges of said plate and adapted to slide long the side faces of a parallelepipedic projecting portion of the casing, said flanges being provided with notches engageable by studs or the like provided in said side faces so as to rigidly hold said plate on the casing.
- the aforesaid support comprises in addition a locking member adapted to prevent the untimely sliding thereof with respect to the casing.
- the present invention while permitting an easy removal of the cutting head, affords a rigidly fastening of the cutting head on the casing, thus providing the best operating conditions for the razor.
- FIGURE 1 is a fragmentary perspective view showing a razor according to the invent-ion, with the cutting head removed from the casing;
- FIGURE 2 is a fragmentary section taken along the line IIII (FIG. 1) showing the grid release system
- FIGURE 3 is a view corresponding to FIGURE 2, the release system being shown in the position in which it releases said grid.
- ting head is to be mounted.
- the cutting head consists essentially of a supporting plate 3 of substantially rectangular configuration on which a slide 4 carrying the cutters 5 is adapted to be reciprocated.
- This slide 4 comprises a cavity 4a engageable by a driving pin or like member 6 rigid with the casing and driven in turn by the motor (not shown).
- An aperture 3a is formed in the plate 3 to permit the passage and movement of translation of said driving pin 6.
- the plate 3 comprises along its lateral edges 3a a pair of flanges 7a, 7b obtained for example by cutting and folding the plate metal at right angles. These flanges constitute guide means adapted to fit over the two parallel side faces of a parallelepipedic projection 8 formed on the top of the casing 2, only one side face 8a being visible in FIGURE 1.
- Each flange 7a and 7b is provided with a pair of notches 90, 9'0 and 9b, 9'b acting as anchoring ramps and engageable, when the plate 3 is caused to slide on projection 8, by studs as 100, 10a carried by each lateral side face of the aforesaid parallelepipedic projection 8.
- the supporting plate 3 is also provided with a locking member consisting of an elastic tongue 11 co-acting with an inclined ramp 12 provided in a cavity 13 of said paral- 'lelepipedic projection 8.
- the plate 3 carries at one of its ends a pair of lugs such as 14 acting as pivot means to a grid 15 whereby the latter can be tilted with respect to the plate for uncovering the cutters 5.
- the grid 15 may be fastened to the plate 3 by means of an elastic tongue 16 provided on its front face 17.
- This tongue 16 is adapted in the closed position, to snap on a keeper or like projection 18- formed on the plate 3.
- an elastic member 19 of circular arc configuration which is adapted, when the cutting head is positioned on the casing, to engage a push-button 20 slidably mounted on the casing and responsive to a return spring 21 urging same way from the plate 22 on which it is adapted to slide.
- the user simply presents the head in a position to enable the driving pin 6 to engage the cavity 4a of slide 4, and the flanges 7a, 7b to fit on the side faces of projection 8. Then it is only necessary to cause the cutting head to slide in the direction of the arrow F so that the notches 9a, 9a and 9b, 9b engage the corresponding studs. At the same time, the elastic tongue 11 slides on the ramp 12 until it is shaped on the front edge 12a of this ramp 12.
- flanges 7a, 7b which may be obtained for example by folding the marginal portions of the plate 3 at right angles as already suggested hereinabove is advantageous in that it imparts to this plate 3 a considerable rigidity and thus avoids any risk of distortion likely to cause a wedging when fitting this plate in posi- I13 tion.
- This rigidity also permits of reducing to a minimum the noise caused by the movement of slide 4 carrying the cutters 5.
- the push-button 20 permits of controlling the opening of the grid when the head is in position. In fact, by depressing this button in the direction of the arrow F3 (see FIGURE 2) against the resitance of spring 21, the grid assembly is raised by means of member 19, thus causing the tongue 16 to be released from the keeper 18.
- Opening the grid without removing the cutting head permits of effecting a summary cleaning of the cutters.
- the grid can be closed by means of a simple finger pressure to re-engage the tongue 16 over the keeper 18.
- An electric razor comprising a casing having a parallelepipedic member projecting therefrom and provided with a rigid locking member, positioning means formed on two parallel side faces of said parallelepipedic member, a pin projecting above said parallalepipedic member and driven in movement, a supporting plate carrying a cutter head comprising movable cutters adapted to be driven by said pin and a grid coacting with said cutters, said supporting plate being formed with parallel lateral flanges provided to register with said faces and having positioning means adapted to snappily engage aforesaid positioning means, said supporting plate further comprising a deformable locking member adapted to coact with said rigid locking member when the positioning means on said lateral flanges engage the positioning means on said parallelepipedic member, whereby said supporting plate is rigidly held on said casing.
- said supporting plate comprises pivot means provided at one of its ends and a keeper member provided at its opposite end, said grid having one of its ends supported on said pivot means whereas its opposite end comprises an elastic tongue means adapted to engage said keeper member and a protruding member and wherein said casing comprises a movable button coacting with said protruding member to raise the latter, whereby the movement of said movable button causes said elastic tongue means to release from said keeper member.
