Description

W. BADOWSKI SHADE ROLLER FIXTURE REMOVING TOOL Jan. 3, 1967 Filed Nov. 12, 1964 IN VEN TOR. @4175? @www United States Patent O 3,295,194 SHADE ROLLER FIXTURE REMOVING TOOL Walter Badowski, Worthington St., Roxbury, Mass. 02119 Filed Nov. 12, 1964, Ser. No. 410,417 3 Claims. (Cl. 29--239) The present invention relates to an improved tool for removing fixtures and attachments from ends of shade rollers and other similar rollers, and more particularly the invention relates to an improved shade roller fixture removing tool in which there is simplicity of parts and a simple leverage mechanism for positively removing given fixtures and attachments from ends of shade rollers.
An object therefore of the present invention is to provide an improved apparatus that includes a series of levers one of which is to secure or hold the shade roller while the other is to apply positive force in the removal of end fixtures from the shade roller.
Further advantages which are inherent in the invention will become apparent from the following description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the invention;
FIGURE 2 is a front elevational view thereof; and
FIGURE 3 is a side elevational view taken along lines 3 3 of FIGURE 2.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown a base to which is mounted at an edge portion thereof a Vertically extending working plate 12 mounted by screws 14.
The working plate 12 may be constructed of metal, and at an upper edge portion thereof includes a circular recess 16 at one side of which is an extension for pivotally mounting a holding rod 20.
Also shown as being mounted by screws 14 is a hingedly mounted removing plate 20 in which its upper portion contains a yoke construction 22 forming a generally circular recess with a substantially knife edge peripheral edge portion 24, said circular recess 24 and circular recess 22 being substantially coaxially disposed with respect to each other as a result of the mounting of the hinged plate 20 on the Working plate 12. There is disposed in a substantially perpendicular relation to the hinged plate 20, an actuation lever 26 that is xedly secured to a portion of the hinged plate 20 substantially away from the hinge portion thereof so that substantially moment arm is provided thereby.
In FIGURE 3, there is shown a shade roller 32 having an end fixture 34 secured thereto and which is desired to have removed from the shade roller 32. The shade roller being inserted in the circular recesses 22, 24, so that the fixture 34 is adjacent the knife edge 24, the rod 20 is then moved along in the direction of arrow 36 in FIGURE 2, so that it holds the roller 32 in place, as shown. When this is accomplished, the lever arrn 26 is 3,295,194 Patented Jan. 3, 1967 then displaced by pushing downwardly in the direction of the arrow 40, as shown in FIGURE 3, and in which case sufficient force is supplied to the fixture 34 so that it is lifted and removed forceably from the shade roller 32.
The working plate 12 as well as the hinged plate 20 and the other metal parts of the apparatus may be nickel plated so that the surface of the metal parts is preserved accordingly, and also provides an improved appearance to the apparatus.
It will thus be apparent that the new apparatus provides facility and ease in the removal of end fixtures from shade rollers and the like, and the advantages and objects set forth above are fully realized.
It is understood that the specific details of the apparatus herein illustrated and described is intended to be representative only, as there are many changes that may be made therein without departing from the clear teachings of the invention. Accordingly, reference should be made to the following claims in determining the full scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. A shade roller fixture removing tool comprising a base, a plate secured to said base and having an open, circular recess at an upper edge portion thereof for receiving the diameter of a shade roller, a hinged yoke mounted on said plate and having a lever arm perpendicularly projecting therefrom, said yoke including a portion generally forming a circular recess including a knife edge portion thereof, `said circular recess being coaxially disposed With respect to said circular recess of said plate, a rod pivotally mounted on said plate to hold said shade roller in place While said lever arm is actuated to remove fixtures from said shade roller.
2. A shade roller fixture removing tool comprising a plate adapted to be secured to a base member and having an open circular recess at the upper edge portion thereof for receiving the diameter of a shade roller, a yoke hingedly mounted on said plate and having a lever arm perpendicularly projecting therefrom, said yoke forming a generally circular recess disposed coaxially with the ci-rcular recess of said plate, a rod pivotally mounted on said plate to hold a shade roller in place While said lever arm is actuable to remove fix-tures from the end of said roller.
3. The invention according to claim 2 wherein the edge portion of the circular recess of said yoke forms a knife edge.
