(Cl; 124-23) This invention relates generally to the sport of archery, and more specifically to a removable attachment for bows which will effectively increase the pull weight of the bow as desired.
It is a principal object of this invention to provide a removable attachment for bows which enables the draw weight of the bow to be increased at will so that the bow may be selectively used for target composition and for hunting purposes.
It is a further object of this invention to provide rubber attachments for mounting on opposite ends of the bow which enables the draw weight of the bow to be increased at will so that the bow may be utilized for various purposes which would normally require several bows of different length and draw weight.
It is a still further object of this invention to provide a power adjusting device for an archery bow which is simple in construction, easy to install and which greatly increases the utility of any bow.
Briefly, this invention is accomplished by providing elastic tie bars which are mounted inwardly of each end of the bow and extend under tension between the bow limb and the bow string at locations inwardly spaced from the connecting terminating ends of the bow and bow string. In this way the elasticity of the tie bars combine with the elasticity of the bow to increase the resulting pull weight of the bow and thereby boost the power thereof.
Further objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from the following more detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, taken in conjunction with the attached drawings wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the power booster device shown in the assembled position between the bow and the bow string.
FIG. 2 is a cross sectional side elevation taken along the lines 22 of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a side elevation showing a complete bow mounted with power boosters according to my invention in the undrawn or equilibrium condition.
FIG. 4 is a side elevation of the bow shown in FIG. 3, in the drawn position.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, the numeral 5 represents a conventional wooden bow having a central hand grip 6 and extending therefrom in a conventionally arcuate manner to terminate with tapering ends '7, The

The power booster may be of unitary moldered construction and consists of a rectangular block 10 having a narrow slot 11 formed therethrough to engage over the tapering end 7 of the bow as clearly seen in FIG. 1. Extending from 'the centre of one side of the block is an elastic strap 12 which extends normally from the block and terminates with a cylindrical sleeve 13. The sleeve 13 is thus disposed in a spaced parallel relationship with the block and is provided with a bore 14 of suitable diameter to receive the bow string 8 therethrough, the said bore extending in a parallel plane with the slot. Two metal bands 15 extend around opposite ends of the sleeve 13 and are provided with projecting ears 16 suitably drilled to receive a tightening bolt therethrough so as to enable the sleeve to be securely tightened in the desired position on the bow string.
FIGS. 3 and 4 show the bow having the power boosters of my invention mounted in position for use. An arrow 17 is shown in position prior and during the draw. It is contemplated that this booster device he injection molded in one piece, but it will be appreciated that the strap 11 is the only essential component which must be made of elastic material.
Having described the invention in a preferred form, it will be appreciated that some modifications may be made to the precise configuration, without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention, as defined by the following claim.
I claim:
A power booster device for an archery bow comprising, a block having a slot extending therethrough to removably receive the tapering ends of a how, a sleeve adapted to grippingly engage on the bow string, and an elastic strap secured between the block and the sleeve adapted to be stretched in response to drawing the bow string, said block and said sleeve and said strap being molded in one piece from elastic material, metal bands extending around opposite ends of the sleeve, and means for selectively tightening the bands to secure the sleeve in a fixed relationship on the bow string.
