SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 321,394, dated June 30, 1885.

To (LZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VVLADISLAUS ST. MrnLcAnnK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ventilators as attached to Stove-Pipes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will to enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specifica- I 5 tion.

Figure 1 is a sectional view on line X X of Fig. 3. Fig. 2 is a side view showing manner of removing the ventilator from the pipe. Fig. 3 is a top or plan view of my inven tion.

Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

My present invention is an improvement upon a former one, for which I received Letters Patent of date October 14, 1884., No.

The object of this device is, as before, to secure the removal of smoke and steam by means of a ventilating apparatus attached to the stovepipe, and detachable at pleasure.

I describe the same as follows:

To the stovepipe G I fasten the plate B, having projecting box-edges, on the top of which is the pin A.

5 Upon the pin A is hung the hood, consisting of the top piece, 0, and the flaring or funnel-shaped body E, having a straight back prolonged and forming the apron J. Said hood is made with the incurved or concave edges H, and the top piece, 0, is rounded upon its outer side. (See Fig. 1..) 7

Within (h e top piece, 0, is thctrap-door D, operated by the rod or handle F. When the trap is raised, it is held open by the ring-bolt- I, through which the rod F passes, catching 5 in the indented shoulder-catch K. Said handle is terminated by the ring L.
