Previously known loaders of this kind have a very serious disadvantage, especially when used for loading ore in mines in that the tire wear becomes abnormally great. Therefore, it has not been economically feasible to use loaders of this kind, even if for other reasons it would have been desirable.
To remove this disadvantage it has been proposed to raise in a suitable way, normally by means of hydraulic jacks, that end of the loader which has to take up the load during use of the shovel so that the wheels on the same end are brought out of contact with the ground. It is to be noted that the most dangerous load as far, as wear on the tires is concerned arises during loosening of the material in the filling of the shovel while the load to which the tires are subjected after the filling of the shovel and during the raising of the shovel is of less importance. Another force which occurs during the filling of the shovel is the backward force which the shovel exerts on the loader and which tends to move the loader backwards on the ground. This causes the tires to slide on the ground resulting in a substantial amount of wear. Also this disadvantage is removed by the previously proposed raising of the end of the loader carrying the shovel.
This known means for removing the above mentioned disadvantages is, however, not satisfactory, as it makes the loader much more complicated due to the necessity of special jacks for carrying out the raising movement and also due to the additional maneuvering of the loader that must be done by the driver during every loading action. This maneuvering requires the driver to first drive the loader forwards to the loading position, then has to effect the necessary raising of the end of the loader, and finally, after the filling of the shovel to lower the end to make it possible to drive the loader to the emptying place. This means that a whole loading and emptying cycle will take a considerably longer time than in a loading operation which does not require the raising of an end without relieving the wheels lying closest to the shovel of load.
The object of the present invention is to solve the problems arising during loading in a considerably easier and simpler manner than discussed above. The invention is substantially characterized in that the arms between their ends are provided with a support means which consists of support blocks cooperating with the upper side of each wheel and which, in the lowered position of the arms and thus in the unloaded condition of the cylinderpiston devices cooperating with said arms said blocks are pressed against the upper side of the Wheels thus causing 3,182,83 Patented May 11, 191
a raising force of the loader so that the wheel axle relieved of the load.
The invention will be further explained in connecti with the attached drawingshowing an embodiment the invention in side elevation.
The loader, which may be in the form of a traci loader, the frame of which is denoted by the referer number 1, has a conventional appearance, and inclur comparatively large wheels 2. On each side of the drive cabin (not shown) is provided a bracket 3 at which load beam comprising two arms 4, one of which is 1 shown. The beam is pivotally mounted and at its f1 end carries a load shovel 5. The pivot shaft 6 of 1 load beam is situated above and behind the axle of 1 Wheels 2. The raising and lowering movement of the le beam is obtained by means of a cylinder-piston device located between each bracket 3 and the associated arm The load shovel 5 which can be constructed in a mam known per se, is pivotally mounted near its upper e around a shaft 8 provided between the free ends of 1 arms 4. The pivot movement of the shovel takes pl: by means of a pair of cylinder-piston devices 9 whi are provided between the arms 4 and the back wall the shovel. As seen in the drawing, the shovel is p: vided with a number of connecting holes for making possible to change the turning radius of the forward e of the shovel.
According to the present invention the two arms 4 the load beam carry support means 17 which, in 1 lowered position of the beam, are adapted to rest on 1 upper side of the respective tractor wheel 2. When 1 cylinder-piston devices cooperating with the load be: are unloaded, the support means 17 press against 1 upper side of the wheels and thus cause the intended r2 ing force on the tractor so that the wheel axles are I loaded. This support means consists of a support blc connected to each beam arm 4 and which at the s: facing the tire has a shape substantially corresponding the outer diameter of the tire so that the load is tra mitted to the tire along the greatest possible surface.
The invention is not limited to the above descril embodiment but can be changed in several ways wit] the scope of the following claims.
I claim:
1. In a loading vehicle including a frame and grou engaging Wheels supporting the frame; a loading asseml comprising arms pivotally connected to and extending l erally from the frame and having outer free ends, shovel carried by the arms, said shovel being pivota maintained on the free ends of the arms, means connec1 between the arms and shovel for actuating the shovel a support block members fixed to the undersides of 1 arms and adapted to rest on top of the wheels in 1 lowered position of the arms so that, as the shovel being filled, the arms are supported on the wheels.
2. The combination of claim 1, wherein said blc members. have undersides cooperating with the Whe and having a shape substantially corresponding to 1 diameter of the wheels in order to obtain the maxim possible contact surface between the blocks and 1 wheels.

1. IN A LOADING VEHICLE INCLUDING A FRAME AND GOUND ENGAGING WHEELS SUPPORTING THE FRAME; A LOADING ASSEMBLY COMPRISING ARMS PIVOTALLY CONNECTED TO AND EXTENDING LATERALLY FROM THE FRAME AND HAVING OUTER FREE ENDS, A SHOVEL CARRIED BY THE ARMS, SAID SHOVEL BEING PIVOTALLY MAINTAINED ON THE FREE ENDS OF THE ARMS, MEANS CONNECTED BETWEEN THE ARMS AND SHOVEL FOR ACTUATING THE SHOVEL AND SUPPORT BLOCK MEMBERS FIXED TO THE UNDERSIDES OF THE
