The cloak-room stand according to the invention is characterized in that each garment hanger has associated therewith a carrier yoke and a securing yoke provided with a lock, the latter yoke being movable between an open and a closed position and so designed that in its closed position it retains a garment, hung over the carrier yoke thereon.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the invention.

Referring to the drawing, the cloak-room stand comprises a horizontal guide rail 1 known per se, having arranged thereon thief-proof garment hangers which are longitudinally movable by means of traveling rollers 3. Eamh garment hanger includes a garment carrier yoke 2 and a securing yoke 8. Each traveling roller carrier 4 is connected to its own garment hanger through a swivel joint 5 and vertical guide bars 6. 0n these guide bars the securing yoke 8 of channel-section, provided with a lock 7, is carried for vertical displacement and fixing by means of lock 7. By pushing the securing yoke 3 down and locking it, the garment hung on the carrier yoke 2 is partly surrounded from the top at the suspension place and held firmly. Because of the swivel joint 5, the garment hanger to be used is swivable 90 about the vertical axis, thereby factilitating manipulation of the securing yoke 8 by means of the handle 8n, operation of the lock by means of key 9 and also insertion of the coin.
The lock '7 serves for keeping the securing yoke 55 in the desired clamping position, for instance in the position shown in dot-dash lines in FIG. 1. For keeping the securing yoke S in the desired vertical position, one of the two guide bars 6 is provided on its inner side with teeth 6:: (FIG. 3). With these teeth a lock slide 1% cooperates, which is guided in a track 11 of the lock casing 12 and drawn by a pull spring 13 towards the teeth 6a in the guide bar 6. A key 9 serves for releasing the lock slide 19 from its engagement with the teeth 6a and, when pushed into the lock, influences with its front end one arm of a release lever 14, the other end of said arm rests against a bolt 15 of the lock slide 16. FIG. 4 illustrates how the key 9, as pushed into the lock, presses, via release lever 14, the lock slide 10 into its releaseposition so as to permit of vertically adjusting thesecuring yoke Stogether with the lock 7 by means of the handle 8a. In this position 'the key 9 introduced in the lock, upon engagement of a spring-loaded ball 16 in a notch 17 of the key, is held against the pressure of slide 16) or spring 13. By drawing the key 9 out, the holding pressureon the ball 16 may be overcome.
The front end of each key 9 is provided with a certain definite profile 1 fitting the tumbler roller 18 (FIGS. 4 and 5). This makes it impossible for the lock. to be opened with the key of another yoke lock. V I
Moreover provision is made for preventing withdrawal of a key from the look without inserting a coin 20. For this purpose, in a guide parallel to that of the key, thereis arranged a slide 21 that is provided with a passageway23 which in one end position (FIG. 4) is connected to a coin insertion channel 22, and in another end position (FIG. 9) to an outlet channel 22a. One wall defining this passageway 23 is formed by a leaf spring 24 which, with its one end, is fixed to the slide 21,'and carries at its other end a driving bolt 25. The latter passes through a bore 26in slide 21 and projects in FIG. 4 through an oblong slot 27 of the lock casing wall into a hole 28 of the'key. Nu meral 29 designates a wedge-shaped lifter that is-firmly mounted on lock casing 12 and which, upon advance of the slide 21 by means of the key, enters a longitudinal channel 30 in the slide, thereby gripping into the passageway 23 thereof. When the lifter 29 enters this passageway, if a coin is therein, the coin 20 (FIG. 10) is pressed by the inclined face 29a of the lifter against the leaf spring 24 so as to cause the latter to move clear of the slide. However, if there is no coin in the passageway 23, the wedge-shaped lifter 29 can enter the same, without the spring 24 being thereby bent out. In this case, upon Withdrawing the key, the likewise withdrawing slide 21 strikes with its spring 24 against a stop 31 of lifter 29 (FIG. 9), without said spring being moved clear of the slide- Therefore the driving bolt 25 remains in engagement with the key andsecnres it against withdrawal from the lock, as shown in FIGS. 8 and 9. However, with a coin present in the passageway 23, because of displacement of the coin 20 by the spring 29 as the key is withdrawn, the spring 24 is raised clear of slide 21, so that the latter, returning with the key, no longer rests against the spring 24 on step 31, the spring rather runs onto an inclined face 32- of the stop 31, whereby the driving bolt 25 will be fully withdrawn from the hole 28 in the key so that the latter can be withdrawn from the lock. When the key 9 is comkey 9, to, avoid hindrance by the driving bolt 25, thekey at its front side (FIG. 6) is provided with an inclined face 37, on which the bolt 25 runs up, being thereby pushed out Irom the path of movement of the key. The bolt 25 can then fall into the hole 23 of the key because of the pressure of spring 24, whereby the key is brought again into operative engagement with the slide 21. The'latter is returned to its position shown in FIG. 4 from that of FIG. 10 upon reinsertion of the key, with the pin 25 then riding up upon the latter;

garment-support member and a clamping member for securing a garment against said garment-support member; guide means substantially rigid with one of said members and forming a path for displacement of the other of said members toward and away from said one of said members, said guide means being provided with locking formations spaced therealong in the direction of displacement of said other member; locking means on said other member cooperating with said formations for securing said other member relative to said one of said members along said guide means, said locking means including a lock casing provided with a passage for a key to be inserted 6 therein, a locking element shiftable in said casing toward and away from said formations for selective engagement therewith, and shifting means in the path of a key inserted in said passage for operating said element; coincontrolled detent means in said casing for restrict ng the withdrawal of said key from said passage in the absence of a coin to be deposited in said casing, said key having an opening, said detent means including a coin-receiving slide displaceable in said casing between a pair of extreme positions and parallel to the direction of insertion of said key adjacent the latter and having a slot adapted to receive said coin, a detent pin mounted in said slide, a leaf spring forming a wall of said slot and biasing said pin into engagement with said key for entry into said opening upon insertion of said key into said casing through said passage thereby interconnecting said key and said slide for entrainment of the latter by said key, abutment means for limiting displacement of said slide, cam means in the path of said slide for engagement with a coin received in said slot for urging it against said spring to withdraw said pin from said opening and permit removal of said key from said casing through said passage, said casing being provided with coin-inlet means communicating with said slot in one extreme position of said slide and with coinoutlet means communicating with said slot in the other extreme position of said slide; and counter means operated by said slide, said counter means including a register and an opening lever therefor projecting into the path of said slide for advancement of said register upon each displacement of said slide between said positions.

In a lockable garment, hanger, in combination, a garment-support member and a clamping member for securing a garment against said garment-support member; guide means substantially rigid with said garment support member and forming a path for displacement of said clamping member toward and away from said garmentsupport member, said guide means being provided with locking formations spaced therealong in the direction of displacement of said clamping member; locking means on said clamping member cooperating with said formations for securing said clamping member relative to said garment-support member along said guide means, said locking means including a lock casing provided with a passage for a key to be inserted therein, a locking element shiftable in said casing toward and away from said formations for selective engagement therewith, and shifting means in the path of a key inserted in said passage-for operating said element; coin-controlled detent means in said casing for restricting the withdrawal of said key from said passage in the absence of a coin to be deposited in said casing, said key having an opening, said detent means including in coin-receiving slide displaceable in said casing between a pair of extreme positions and parallel to the direction of insertion of said key adjacent the latter and having a slot adapted to receive said coin, a detent pin mounted in said slide, a leaf spring forming a wall of said slot and biasing said pin into engagement with said key for entry into said opening upon insertion of said key into said casing through said passage thereby interconnecting said key and said slide for entrainment of the'latter by said key, abutment means for limiting displacement of said slide, cam means in the path of said slide for engagement with a coin received in said slot for urging it against said spring to withdraw said pin fiom said opening and permit removal of said key from said casing through said passage, and stop means rearwardly of said abutment means in the direction of displacement of said slide upon withdrawalof said key and outwardly from said slide in the direction of displacement of said leaf spring by said cam means for engagement with said spring to draw said pin out of said hole upon withdrawal of said key, said casing being provided with coin-inlet means communicating with said slot in one extreme position of said slide and with coin-outlet means communicating with said slot in the other extreme position of said slide; and counter 7 means operated by said slide, said counter means includzontal guide rail mounted upon said support, a'plurality of garment carriers displaceable along said guide rail but nonremovably mounted thereon, a respective garment support member secured to each of said carriers. for dis-. 7 placement therewith, a respective clamping member on each of said carriers for movement between a first position wherein a garment is clamped between the respective members of each carrier and a second position remote from the respective garment-support member, each of said members being nonremovably aflixed to the respective carrier, and coin-operable locking means on each of said clamping members for releasably securing it in its first position.
9. A cloak-room stand comprising a support, a horizontal guide rail mounted upon said support, a plurality of garment carriers displaceable along said guide rail but nonremovably mounted thereon, a respective garmentsupport member pivotally secured to each of said carriers for displacement-therewith and rotation about a respective vertical axis relative thereto, a respective clamping member on each of said carriers for movement between a first position wherein a garment is clamped between the respective members of each carrier and a second position remote from the respective garment-support member, each of said members being nonremovably affixed to the respective carrier, and coin-operable locking means on each of said clamping members for releasably securing itin its first position. A cloak-room stand comprising a support, a hori- V zontal guide rail mounted upon said support, a plurality of carriers individually displaceable along said rail and v 8 ment of said slide, and cammeans in the path of said slide tor engagement with a coin received in said slot for urging it against said spring to withdraw said pin from said opening and permit removal of said key from said casing through said passage.

A cloak-room stand comprising a support, a horizontal guide rail mounted upon said support, a plurality of carriers individually displaceable along said rail and I non-removably mounted thereon, and a respective locknon-removably mounted thereon, and a respective lockable garment hanger mounted uponeach of said carriers and nonremovable therefrom, each'of said garment hangers comprising: a garment-support member and a clamping member for securing a garment against said garment- I support member; guide'means substantially rigid with one of said members and forming a path for displacement of the other of said members toward and away from said one of said members, said guide means being provided'with locking formations spaced therealong in the direction of displacement of said other member; locking meanson said other member cooperating with said formations for i securing said other member relative to said one of said members along said guide means, said locking meansincluding a lock casing provided with a passage for a key to be inserted therein, a locking element shiftabie in said casing toward and away from said formations for selective engagement therewith, and shifting means in the path of a key inserted in saidpassage for operating-said element, and coin-controlled detent means in said casing for restricting the withdrawal of said key from said passage in the absence of a coin to be deposited in said casing, said key having an opening, said detent rneansincluding a coinreceiving slide displaceable in said casing parallel to the direction of insertion ofpsaid key adjacent thelatter and having a slot adapted to receive said coin, a detent pin mounted in said slide, a leaf spriugforming a wall of said slot and biasing said pin into engagementwith said able garment hanger pivotally mounted upon each of said carriers and non-removable therefrom while being swingable thereon about a respective vertical axis, each of said garment hangers comprising: a garment-support member and a clamping member for securing a garment against said garment-support'member; guide means substantially rigid with said garment-support member and forming a path for displacement of said clamping member toward and away from said garment support member, said guide means'being provided with locking formations spaced therealong in the direction of displacement of said clamping member; locking means on said clamping member relative to said garment-support member along said guide means, said locking means including'a lock casing procided with a passage for a key to be inserted therein, a locking element shiftable in said casing toward and away from said formations for selective engagement therewith, and'shifting means in the path of a key inserted in said passage for operating said element, and coin-controlled detent means in said casing for restricting the withdrawal of said key from said passage in the absence of a coin to be deposited in said casing, saidkey having an opening,
opening upon insertion of said key into said casing through said passage thereby interconnecting said key and said slide for entrainment of the latter by said key, abutment means for limiting displacement of said slide, cam means in the path of said slide for engagement with a coin received in said. slot for urging it against said spring to 5 withdraw said pin from said opening and permit removm of said key from said casing through said passage, and stop means rearwardly of said abutment means in the direction of displacement of said slide upon withdrawal of said key and outwardly from said slide in the direction of displacementof said leaf spring by said cam means for engagement with said spring to draw said pin out of said hole upon withdrawal of said key, said casing being provided with coin-inlet means communicating with said slot in one extreme position of said slide and with coin-outlet means communicating with said slot in the other extreme position of said slide.

1. IN A LOCKABLE GARMENT HANGER, IN COMBINATION, A GARMENT-SUPPORT MEMBER AND A CLAMPING MEMBER FOR SECURING A GARMENT AGAINST SAID GARMENT SUPPORT MEMBER; GUIDE MEANS SUBSTANTIALLY RIGID WITH ONE OF SAID MEMBERS AND FORMING A PATH FOR DISPLACEMENT OF THE OTHER OF SAID MEMBERS TOWARD AND AWAY FROM SAID ONE OF SAID MEMBERS, SAID GUIDE MEANS BEING PROVIDED WITH LOCKING FORMATIONS SPACED THEREALONG IN THE DIRECTION OF DISPLACEMENT OF SAID OTHER MEMBER; LOCKING MEANS ON SAID OTHER MEMBER COOPERATING WITH SAID FORMATIONS FOR SECURING SAID OTHER MEMBER RELATIVE TO SAID ONE OF SAID MEMBERS ALONG SAID GUIDE MEANS, SAID LOCKING MEANS INCLUDING A LOCK CASING PROVIDED WITH A PASSAGE FOR A KEY TO BE INSERTED THEREIN, A LOCKING ELEMENT SHIFTABLE IN SAID CASING TOWARD AND AWAY FROM SAID FORMATIONS FOR SELECTIVE ENGAGEMENT THEREWITH, AND SHIFTING MEANS IN THE PATH OF A KEY INSERTED IN SAID PASSAGE FOR OPERATING SAID ELEMENT; AND DETENT MEANS IN SAID CASING FOR RESTRICTING THE WITHDRAWAL OF SAID KEY FROM SAID PASSAGE, SAID KEY HAVING AN OPENING, SAID DETENT MEANS INCLUDING A SLIDE DISPLACEABLE IN SAID CASING PARALLEL TO THE DIRECTION OF INSERTION OF SAID KEY ADJACENT THE LATTER, A SPRING-LOADED DETENT PIN MOUNTED IN SAID SLIDE AND BIASED INTO ENGAGEMENT WITH SAID KEY FOR ENTRY INTO SAID OPENING UPON INSERTION OF SAID KEY INTO SAID CASING THROUGH SAID PASSAGE THEREBY INTERCONNECTING SAID KEY AND SAID SLIDE FOR ENTRAINMENT OF THE LATTER BY SAID KEY, AND ABUTMENT MEANS FOR LIMITING DISPLACEMENT OF SAID SLIDE.
