MATILDA FREDERICA STRATHY, OF LONDON, ONTARlO, CANADA.
CARPET- FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,402, dated February 17, 1885.
Application filed November 2l, 1884.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Beit known that I, M. F. STRATHY, of the city of London, in the Province of Ontario, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carpet-Fasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
This invention has for its object to readily secure the fastener in position to hold the carlpet and allow of its removal.
' the middle of its length, a disk screwing thereon, and a cap or head having centrally ahole to receive the screw-shank of the fastener, whereby the pointed end may be driven into a door by pressure on the disk, so that when the margin of the carpet is pierced by the screw and the head screwed on, the carpet will be held down and the fastener present a neat appearance.

The cap or head C is then screwed down onto the carpet, whereby it will be between the disk B and cap G.
This device is adapted for upholstering or for hanging tapestry, and the head or cap C may be of any fanciful design suited to the position.
I claim as my invention- As an improved article of manufacture, a carpet-fastener composed of a stem. A. pointed at one end and screw-threaded at the other, a disk, B, threaded, driven, or. shrunk on the stem, and a cap or head, C, screwing thereon, as Set fort-h, for the purpose described.
