Molinaro, 239 Trumbull Ave, Bridgeport, Conn. Filed Apr. 4, 1961, Ser. No. 100,645 3 Claims. (Cl. 161-16) This invention relates to decorations and, more par ticularly, to an ornament hanger.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a Christmas tree ornament hanger which is extremely simple to use, remains permanently fixed to the main ornament, and may be readily removed and applied to the tree with a minimum amount of effort.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide an ornament hanger of the above type having auxiliary ornamentation adding to the appearance of the assembly and increasing the usefulness thereof.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a Christmas tree ornament hanger bearing the above objects in mind, which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture, and efficient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:

FIGURE 1 is a side elevational view of a Christmas tree ornament hanger made in accordance with one form of the present invention in actual use; and

FIGURE 2 is a front elevational view of a slightly modified form of construction.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a Christmas tree ornament hanger 11) made in accordance with one form of the present invention is shown to include a branch engaging clip in the form of a pair of legs 12 having juxtaposed portions 14 at one end joined by a bight portion 16 upon which the ornament 29 is supported by means of a connector pin 13. The legs 12 of the clip are provided with serrations 22 to frictionally engage a branch of a Christmas tree during use.

The opposite ends of the legs 12 of the clip are of generally arcuate configuration and have terminal portions 24 upon which auxiliary ornaments 26 may be hung. While the terminal portions 24 may be ornamental per se, being constructed of such a size to allow the connector pin 18 of the main ornament to easily pass over the ornamental termination, it is here illustrated as a terminal portion 24 upon which auxiliary ornaments 26 are hung.

In FIGURE 2 of the drawing, a slightly modified form of construction 30 is shown wherein the branch engaging clip similarly formed by a pair of juxtaposed portions 34 of a pair of legs 32, such juxtaposed portions 34 having serrations 36 for frictional engagement with the branch of the tree. One end of the legs is connected by means of a bight portion 38 serving to support the main ornament in the manner described. The opposite end of one of the legs 32 is provided with an arcuate portion 40 "ice having a terminal 42 upon which an auxiliary ornament 44 may be supported. The other leg 32 is free of any additional ornamentation in this embodiment of the invention and is of a size to allow the connector pin 18 of the main ornament to easily pass over it thereby providing a means to easily attach the main ornament to the hanger and allows the terminal 42 to be either ornamental per se leaving no restrictions on the size or shape of the ornamentation, or allows the terminal 42 to support an auxiliary ornament 44 as shown in the drawing.

It will now be recognized that a Christmas tree ornament hanger has been provided which is ornamental in itself, will improve the ornamentation of the tree, may be readily removed or applied, and will remain in anchored engagement with the ornament between seasons.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A Christmas tree ornament hanger comprising in combination a pair of elongated legs connected at the lower end by a bight to form an ornament securing loop, said legs having opposed serrated faces and being urged together to form a branch engaging clip adapted to support an ornament suspended from said loop, the legs having at their upper ends laterally extending portions in which at least one of said laterally extending portions is adapted to support an additional ornament.

A Christmas tree ornament hanger comprising in combination a pair of elongated legs connected at the lower end by a bight to form an ornament securing loop, said legs having opposed serrated faces and being urged together to form a branch engaging clip adapted to support an ornament suspended from said loop, the legs having at their upper ends laterally extending portions adapted to support additional ornaments.

A Christmas tree ornament hanger comprising in combination a pair of elongated legs connected at the lower end by a bight to form an ornament securing loop, said legs having opposed serrated faces and being urged together to form a branch engaging clip adapted to support an ornament suspended from said loop, the legs having at their upper ends laterally extending portions, one of said portions being a short terminal member and the other of said portions being longer than the first mentioned portion and being adapted to support ornamentation therefrom.

Claims (1)

1. A CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT HANGER COMPRISING IN COMBINATION A PAIR OF ELONGATED LEGS CONNECTED AT THE LOWER END BY A BIGHT TO FORM AN ORNAMENT SECURING LOOP, SAID LEGS HAVING OPPOSED SERRATED FACES AND BEING URGED TOGETHER TO FORM A BRANCH ENGAGING CLIP ADAPTED TO SUPPORT AN ORNAMENT SUSPENDED FROM SAID LOOP, THE LEGS HAVING AT THEIR UPPER ENDS LATERALLY EXTENDING PORTIONS IN WHICH AT LEAST ONE OF SAID LATERALLY EXTENDING PORTIONS IS ADAPTED TO SUPPORT AN ADDITIONAL ORNAMENT.
