PAUL B. JOHNSON A TTOP/VEK United States Patent 3,115,849 SUPPQRT Ftlll TABLE F01! PROJECTORS OR THE LIKE Paul Bascomb Johnson, Garland, Tern, assignor to Leta S.
Taylor, a partnership composed of Leta S. Taylor, individually, and Leta S. Taylor as trustee for Douglas C.
Taylor and Leta E. Taylor Filed Nov. 9, 1961, er. No. 151,385 Claims. (Cl. 108-4) This invention relates to a new and improved table or the like which is adapted for the support of projectors or the like.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a table or support which is relatively compact, light weight and portable while being capable of firmly and securely supporting considerable weight and which may be easily and quickly adjusted in practically any desired direction to position the projector.
Another object is to provide new and improved means for connecting the table or support to the upright supporting post for providing an improved connection therebetween and also for connecting the supporting tripod to the upright post.
Gther objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein the preferred form of the invention has been shown by way of illustration only.
Referring to the drawings:
FIG. '1 is a prospective view of a device embodying the invention;
PEG. 2 is a fragmentary view taken on line 2-2 of FlG. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows;
FIG. 3 is a view generally similar to FIG. 2 but taken from the opposite side of the device;
FIG. 4 is sectional view showing the connecting means for connecting the tripod to the upright post; and
FIG. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 55 of P16. 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Referring more particularly to the drawings wherein similar reference characters designate parts throughout, the device shown embodying the invention comprises an upright supporting post adapted to support a table or support 11 while allowing adjustment thereof to desired anmilar relation for the support of a projector or the like.
On the upper end of upright post 10 is provided a. supporting member 12 having a hollow portion 13 adapted to receive the upper end of post ill which is adapted to engage the lower surface of the top or cover portion 14 on which is positioned the contact button or the like 15 which is referably spherical as shown and on which the table is adapted to be supported. The contact button 15 may be positioned in a spherical recess in the lower side of table ll or the lower fiat surface of the table may be positioned directly on the upper edge of the contact button 15.
The portion i l of member 12 has the projections 16 having openings therethrough aligned with openings in table 11 and through these aligned openings are positioned the screws 17 with threaded nuts 18 whereby adjustment of nuts 1% will effect angular adjustment of table I l to thereby effect desired angular positioning of a projector or the like supported on table 11.
Upright post lid is also provided with the shoulder or ice flange 22 on which is positioned the clamp member 23 to which the tripod legs 24, 2S and 26 are pivotally connected at 27, 2.8 and 29, respectively.
Clamping member 23 is provided with an internal peripheral groove so in which is positioned fiber gasket 31 which is adapted to be forced into engagement with the sunface of upright post it? by means of screw 32 which is threaded into the wall of member 23 and engages said fiber gasket 31 whereby, the tripod clamp may be adjusted to position the upright post at desired height and then, by use of screw 32 the tripod will be locked in said adjusted position through the clamping of gasket 31 against upright post Ill.
The operation of the device is believed apparent from the foregoing description.
From the above it will be seen that I have provided new and improved means for obtaining all of the objects and advantages of the invention.
