REMEDY FOR LIVER AND KIDNEY DISEASES.
SPECIFICATION forming part ofLetters Patent No. 310,427, dated January 6, 1885.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, G. P. HILTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glendale, in the county of Spartanburg and State of South Carolina, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Medical Compounds; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
' This invention has relation to medicinal compounds for the benefit of persons who are troubled with weakness of the liver or kidneys; and it consists in a combination of ingredients in the proportions and manner hereinafter set forth.
In preparing this medicine Iboil in five and one-half gallons of water for five or ten minutes five pounds senna-leaves, one-half pound dandelion-root in coarse powder, two and onehalf ounces mandrake-root in coarse powder, remove this from the fire and add one and threequarters pound bnchu-leaves, andlet the mixtu re stand one hour. Then express the liquid, which will amount to about thirty-four pints, and in this dissolve two ounces bicarbonate of soda or bicarbonate of potash, after which add six pints of alcohol or twelve pints of whisky. If the latter, six pints less of water is used in the boiling. of ginger, and the whole having been thoroughly mixed is allowed to stand ten or twelve days to settle. The clear liquid is then drawn off for use.
The medicine is to be taken internally, as follows: Adult dose, a teaspoonful after each meal, or more, if necessary to produce one operation of the bowels each day. Children according to age.
' I claim The medicine compounded of senna-leaves, dandelion and mandrake roots, buchu-leaves, bicarbonate of soda, whisky, and tincture of ginger, in the proportions substantially as specified.
