UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MOSES PORTER, OF LOVINGTON, ILLINOIS.
LAND-ROLLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 309,798, dated December 23, 1884.
Application filed March 6. 1884. (No model.)
allel position, and aset of draft bars or braces to secure the same on a line horizontally and impart the motion of the horses thereto with out interfering with the pivotal motion above mentioned.
In the drawings accompanying and forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan of my device. Fig. 2 is an end view, and Fig. 3 an edge View of the ends of therollers. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a roller-frame.
a is the seat for the driver.
b b are the rollers. c o are the frames in which the rollers operd d are cross-bars rigidly attached to tongue e, and provided with pivotal attachments to lugs c c of frame 0 a.
f h h show the arrangement of braces used to impart the motion of the horses to the rollerframes, f representing a bar rigidly attached to the tongue, and h h representing V-shaped draft bars or braces extending from the ends of bar f to the frames 0 0.
g g are angle-braces to strengthen bar f. The bars at d hold the rollers in a position parallel with each other and with the tongue.
Braces h h and bar f convey the motion of 4 the horses from the tongue to the roller-frames.
By having one set of braces to hold the rollers in position laterally and another set to impart motion thereto, each set may be constructed of lighter material and still, from the advantage of location, produce a better result.
I claim- The combination, in a field-roller, of rollers b b, frames 0 c, tongue 6, bars d d, bar f, and V-shaped braces h h, as and for the purpose set forth.
- MOSES PORTER.
