(Cl. 68-189) The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating textile products by means of liquids, for example a dyeing apparatus of the kind comprising a closed vessel filled with an appropriate liquid and enclosing a support consisting of a series of tubes perforated along their whole length on which are threaded the spools and packages of the textile product :for treatment, the tubes being connected to a receiver disposed in the vessel and communicating with the interior of the vessel, a pump with reversible operation being provided in the vessel enabling the liquid to be moved in a closed circuit through the receiver and the vessel in such manner that the textile product is traversed by a stream of liquid issuing either from the interior of the tubes towards the exterior or inversely.
In apparatus of this kind it is advantageous to use a static pressure, on one hand to ensure a maximum yield in the circulating pump but on the other hand to render it possible to work with the water at a temperature higher than 100 C. To secure this static pressure in known apparatus, different systems are used utilizing compressed air pressure or auxiliary pumps operating under pressue, or hydraulic pressure.
The present invention has for its chief object to provide this static pressure by means of the circulating pump itself which clearly constitutes considerable simplification. For this purpose the apparatus according to the invention comprises in combination a closed liquid vessel, a receiver in said vessel, a plurality of perforated tubes for supporting the textile products mounted on said receiver and communicating therewith, an external liquid reservoir, a pump stator mounted in said vessel on the inlet of said receiver, a shaft in said stator, means for rotating said shaft, a pump rotor on said shaft for reversible liquid circulating in closed circuit through said receiver, said perforated tubes and said vessel, channels in said rotor, hollow blades carried by said rotor, a socket provided around said shaft, a chamber limited by said shaft and said socket, the interior of said blades communicating with said chamber through said channels, and means for connecting said chamber to said external reservoir.
The present invention has further among its objects to enable in simple manner the quantity of liquid for treatment distributed by the circulating pump to be controlled. For this purpose the stator is externally limited by a revolving surface and provided with a series of vents, the apparatus comprising further a ring arranged in said vessel around said stator, a series of openings provided in said ring corresponding to said vents and means for rotating said ring around said stator so as to close more or less completely the vents of the stator.
Another object of the invention consists in making it possible to use the circulating pump in an apparatus just described for emptying the vessel. To this end, the ring is provided, in one of the parts between two consecutive openings, with an orifice, the apparatus comprising further a blow-01f pipe in said vessel which opens out externally of the vessel, and means for connecting said orifice and thus the interior of the stator to said pipe when said ring is brought to that position in which the vents of the stator have to be completely closed.
The invention is diagrammatically illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a sectional elevation of the apparatus according to the invention which is provided for the dyeing of textile fibers rolled on bobbins;
FIGURE 2 is a view on an enlarged scale of a part of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a view of a detail of FIGURE 2;
FIGURE 4 is a perspective view of a modification of a part of FIGURE 2;
FIGURE 5 is a plan view corresponding to FIG- URE 4;
FIGURE 6 is a view corresponding to FIGURE 5 but indicating another relative position of the elements shown, and
FIGURE 7 shows an elevation and in section a part of a similar apparatus to that of FIGURE 1, but in which is used the modification according to FIGURES 4 to 6. In the different figures the same reference numerals designate the same parts.
The apparatus shown in FIGURES 1 to 3 consists of a vessel 1 closed by a cover 2, and which, when the apparatus is in operation is entirely filled with a suitable liquid for treatment. The closed vessel 1 includes a cylindrical flat receiver 3 the external diameter of which is less than the internal diameter of the vessel 1 so that an annular passage is presented between the periphery of the receiver 3 and the vessel 1. The receiver 3 serves to support a series of perforated tubes 4 on which are threaded spools and packages 5 of the textile product to be treated. The perforations 6, provided along the whole length of the tubes 4 permit the liquid filling the vessel 1 to be moved across the packages 5 alternatively from the interior towards the exterior and reciprocally by means of a circulating system hereinafter described.
The circulation of liquid, in a closed circuit, circulating through the receiver 3 and the vessel 1, is effected by a pump 8 whose stator 9 carries on its upper part a cap 10 forming the inlet for the receiver 3. The vent-s 11 are provided in the base of the stator 9, and placed in the interior of the vessel 1, are in communication with the interior of the receiver 3 through the intermediary of the rotor 12 of the pump 8. The rotor 12 is mounted on a shaft 32 rotated by a motor 34.
The rotor 12 carries the hollow blades 13 which are shown on an enlarged scale in FIGURE 3. In the extension 14 of these blades is formed a bent channel 15 which extends into the interior of the blades and is thus in contact with a chamber 16 which is limited 'on the one hand by the shaft 32 and on the other hand by a cylindrical member 17 in which is formed a channel 18' extending in a conduit 19 connected to a reservoir 20 which can be opened or closed and which is filled with the liquid for treatment. The rotor 12 through the hollow blades 13 sucks liquid from the reservoir 20 and as a result of the centrifugal force stirring the liquid in the hollow blades a static hydraulic pressure is maintained inside the vessel 1. The hollow blades play the part of a safety valve in the case where an expansion of liquid is produced, for example on increase of temperature. In the case of cooling contraction of the liquid in the vessel 1 is compensated for by the introduction of a supplementary quantity of liquid through the hollow blades of the rotor 12 which enables the static pressure, corresponding to the speed of rotation of the rotor, to be restored. As soon as the vessel 1 is full and the desired static pressure has been reached, the hollow blades 13 no longer operate so that there is no further exchange of liquid between the vessel 1 and the reservoir 20.
By reason of the construction as hereinbefore described, a static pressure is always maintained on the suction side 3 of the pump, whatever the direction of rotation of the rotor.
In the embodiment shown in FIGURES 4 and 7 the lower part, which is externally limited by a cylindrical surface, of the stator 9 is surrounded by a ring zl provided with openings 22 corresponding to the vents 11 of the stator 9. The ring 21 lies on the base of the vessel 1 and can be displaced around the stator 9 by means of an arm 24 which is secured to a lever 25. On the lever 25 is mounted a rod 26 to which is connected a bar 27 integral with the ring 21. The arm 24 can be turned around its axis from the outside which enables a certain angle of rotation to be given to the ring 21 in either direction. The angular displacement of the ring 21 with respect to the stator 9 wholly or partly obturates the vents 11 of the stator 9. One of the parts of the ring 21 separates two consecutive openings 22, the. part designated by 28 being provided with an orifice 29 around which is mounted a short conduit 23 terminating in a bevel and disposed in alignment with a conduit 30 which is extended by a blow-ofi pipe 31 which opens out in the exterior of the vessel 1 to a discharge container. A flow relation between the conduits 23 and 30 only exists when the ring 21 is in the position shown in FIGURE 5, that is to say the position in which the vents not the stator 9 are completely closed. In this case the stator is no longer in flow relation with the interior of the vessel 1. One can then, as shown in FIGURE 7, drive the contents of the vessel 1 towards the outside or refill the vessel 1 according to the direction of rotation of the rotor 12.
' If the ring 21 is placed in a position in which the vents -11 are completely open an identical situation is then provided as shown in FIGURES 1 to 3.
If the ring 21 is put into an intermediate position such as that of FIGURE 6, the quantity of liquid distributed by the circulating pump is diminished. Thus it will be understood that the ring 21 enables the regulation of supply of the circulated pump.
It will be further understood that by means of a particularly simple apparatus a static pressure can be created by the suction of the circulating pump whatever the direction of rotation of the circulating pump; the supply to this pump may moreover be controlled. Finally, by means of the circulating pump it is possible to empty or to fill the vessel.
The present invention is in no sense limited to the form of carrying out the invention described and modifications may be introduced without departing from the scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. Apparatus for treating textile products by means of liquids comprising in combination a closed liquid vessel, a receiver in said vessel, a plurality of perforated tubes for supporting the textile products mounted on said receiver and communicating therewith, an external liquid reservoir, a pump stator mounted in said vessel on the inlet of said receiver, a shaft in said stator, means for rotating said shaft, a pump rotor on said shaft for reversible liquid circulation in closed circuit through said receiver, said perforated tubes and said vessel, said rotor being provided with channels, hollow blades carried by said rotor, a socket provided around said shaft, a chamber limited by said shaft and said socket, the interior of said blades communicating with said chamber through said channels, and means for connecting said chamber to said external reservoir.
2. Apparatus as claimed in claim 1, in which the external surface of said stator is :a surface of revolution and is provided with a series of vents connecting the interior of the stator to the vessel, the apparatus comprising further a ring arranged in said vessel around said stator, a series of openings provided in said ring corresponding to said vents and means for rotating said ring around said stator whereby the vents of the stator can be selectively opened and closed.
3. Apparatus as claimed in claim 2 in which said ring is provided, in one of the parts between two consecutive openings, with an orifice, the apparatus comprising further a blow-ofi pipe in said vessel which opens out externally of the vessel, and means for connecting said orifice and thus the interior of the stator to said pipe when said ring is brought to that position in which the vents of the stator have to be completely closed.
