DIEDRICH LIENIIOP, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
PARLoR-FOUNTAIN.
EC-JECIEICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,966, dated November 11, 1884.
Application led February 16, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, DIEDRICH LInNHoP, of the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Parlor-Fountains, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
Figurelisan elevationofthefountain. Fig. 2 is an axial section ofthe fountain, basin, and stand, the pump-works being shown in eleva tion. Fig. 3 is an enlarged horizontal section at 3 3, looking down. Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical section of the pump at 4 4. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the sprinkling-nozzle and coupling. Y
A are the legs supporting a frame, B.
C C are shelves supported upon the frame B, and intended for a support for owerpots D.
E is the water-basin into which the water from the fountain descends.
'F is a drain-pipe from the basin E, said pipe supplying water to the induction-chamber G ofthe pump.
H H are check-valves workingin theinduction-ports I, between the chamber G and the' water-chambers J, that are in communication with the induction-ports K of the pump-cylinder L.
M is the purnp-piston, and N the piston-rod, which latter works through a stufng-box, O.
P is a stud upon the piston-rod, that enters the groove r ofan oblique cam, R, upon a shaft, S. The shaft S is actuated by weight T through a multiplying system of cog-gear, U. The weights are supported upon hooks fu on cords V and V, which are coiled in opposite directions o n the cord-shaft or drum W, so that the uucoiling of the.cord V will coil up the cord V upon the drum, and vice versa. Thus when one cord has been uncoiled from the drum the weight is transferred to the other cord, and so on. I prefer to place a frictionroller on the stud l?, tolessen the friction and Wear. The eduction-valves are shown at X, their ports opening into the eduction-chamber Y, from which the jet-pipe Z extends upward through the bottom of the basin E.
Z is the nozzle throwing a fine jet or jets.
a is a coupling-cap that may be iittedupon the nozzle Z. The couplingcap carries a hose-section, b, at Whose free end is a rose-jet, c, by which Water may be sprinkled upon the plants in the pots D upon the shelves.
d is au air-,chamber above the eductionchamber Y, to insure regularity of the Waterjet by equalizing the pressure.
I claim as my inventionl. The combination of weight T, drum W,
with cord V, cog-gear train U, cam-shaft and cam S R, a pump operated by the cam, and the fountain-pipe Z, and return-pipe F, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with the piston-rod N and stud P, ofthe oblique cam R, gearing U, and driving-drum carrying cords V V,wound in opposite directions upon the drum, for/the purpose Set forth.
DIEDRICII LIENHOP.
In presence of- GEO. H. KNIGHT,
J. VAHLE.
