BPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,899, dated November 11, 1884.
Application filed June 5, 1884.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS BARBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Flatbush, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lining for Cylinders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to means for securing a lining in the interior of a cylinder, said means being pointed out in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a transverse section of acylinder lined according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a detached perspective view of one of the bevel-headed screw-bolts on a larger scale than the previous figures; and Fig. 4, a broken sectional view on a reduced scale, showing a modification of the invention.

In the drawings, the letter A designates a cylinder which is provided with a lining, B- The lining is made in the form of a tube which fits the bore of the cylinder, and which is provided with a slot, a, extending throughout its entire length. The edges of this slot are beveled, and in the cylinder is a series of holes to receive the screw-bolts O. What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with a cylinder, of a lining provided with a slot which has V-shaped edges, and of screw-boltspassing through holes in the cylinder, and having heads with V-shaped sides to engage with the V-shaped edges of the slot, substantially as and for the purpose described.
