Richmond Hill, N.Y. Filed Mar. 1, 1961, Ser. No. 92,546 7 Claims. (Cl. 40-109) This invention relates to calendars and, more particularly, to an adjustable calendar.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an adjustable coded calendar which can be readily adjusted so as to be usable during any particular year.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable coded calendar having means for accommodating leap years as well as regular years, and which can be used over prolonged periods of time Without replacement.
Still an additional object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable coded calendar of the type described having a coded card to reflect a multiple-data schedule and to relate this schedule to the dates of the year.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken with the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective View of an adjustable coded calendar made in accordance with the present invention in actual use;
FIGURE 2 is an enlarged fragmentary plan view of certain parts of the assembly shown in FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a plan view of a coded card forming a part of the present invention, illustrating a typical coding pattern printed on one side thereof;
FIGURE 4 is a plan view of the opposite side of the same coded card shown in FIGURE 3, illustrating the continuation of the same coding pattern;
FIGURE 5 is a longitudinal cross sectional view taken along line 5-5 of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 6 is a plan view of a data sheet for a regular year, forming another part of the present invention;
FIGURE 7 is a fragmentary plan view of a data sheet for a leap year forming still another part of the present invention; and
FIGURE 8 is a transverse cross sectional view taken along line 88 of FIG. 5, illustrating the manner in which the calendar is adjusted.
Referring now to the drawing, an adjustable coded calendar 10 made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a main housing having a pair of panels 12 secured in spaced apart parallel relation ship by means of spacer blocks 13, both such panels being of substantially identical arrangement having central window openings with indicia 14 designating the month of the year along longitudinal sides of the opening 20, and smaller indicia 16 designating the days of the week on opposite longitudinal extremities of the opening 29.
The date sheet 22, of transparent material, has all of the dates 24 of the year imprinted thereupon in difierent order, so as to be readily adjustable within the main housing relative to the indicia 14, 16. This date sheet 22 is properly framed by the window opening 20 so that the numeral 1 adjacent to the top thereof is properly positioned with respect to the month January and the day of the week on which January 1st of the particular reference year falls.
To facilitate the use of the calendar for leap years, a leap year date sheet 22a of transparent material, is provided which has dates 24a corresponding to each day of the year, as well as the date 29, corresponding to the last day of February in a leap year, as indicated by reference numeral 25 shown in FIGURE 7.
The coded card 32 is of opaque material having printed surfaces 34a, b on opposite sides, each such surface printed in a continuous pattern of colored geometric indicia such as the color coded bars 38, 40, 42 shown in FIGURES 3 and 4. Each readily identifiable color, such as blue, brown, and green, designates a specific multiple-hour period of time, and the length of the color coded bar designates a specific number of consecutive days. This coded card 32 is properly aligned behind the date sheet 22 so that the left end of the selected one of the three color coded bars is positioned under the selected reference date, which may fall on any one of the seven days of the week, so as to relate the selected schedule to the dates of the year.
Certain ones of the apertures 26 in the date sheet 22, apertures 26a in the date sheet 22a, and apertures 36 in the coded card 32, will be aligned with similar apertures 28 in the panels 12 to facilitate the insertion of fasteners 30 which will secure the date sheets 22, 22a and the coded card 32 in proper adjusted position relative to each other and relative to the main housing.
The date sheets 22, 22a are movable horizontally within the housing as shown in FIGURE 8, whereas the coded card 32 is movable vertically therewithin. In setting up the calendar for any particular schedule, both sides thereof are properly aligned and the fasteners 30 inserted to maintain the parts in the properly adjusted position, thus providing a visual indication of the particular schedule for each date of the current year as well.

An adjustable coded calendar comprising, in com- 'bination, a main housing having central window openings, indicia carried by said main housing around said window openings designating the month of the year and the days of the week, two individual date sheets each slidably supported within said main housing for selective independent movement relative to said window openings having numerical indicia designating the dates of each month, a coded card, said coded card being slidably supported within said main housing for movement between said date sheets relative to said date sheets, said coded card having colored geometric indicia designating a multiple data schedule for relating said schedule to said dates, said main housing comprising a pair of substantially rigid opaque panels, said panels being secured together in spaced apart parallel relationship, and a plurality of spacer blocks mounted between said panels, said spacer blocks maintaining said panels in spaced apart parallel relationship.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein I said indicia carried by said main housing is imprinted upon each one of said panels identically around the periphery of said central window opening.

An adjustable coded calendar as set forth in claim 2, wherein each one of said date sheets comprises a transparent panel having a plurality of numerical indicia imprinted thereupon in seven distinct columnar arrangements for each said date sheet, corresponding to a calendar arrangement for each year, regardless of the day upon which each year commences.
4. An adjustable coded calendar as set forth in claim 3, wherein said coded card comprises a substantially opaque;panel havingra plurality of colored geometricindicia imprinted on both sides thereof in a prearranged pattern corresponding to' said multiple-data schedule.

The combination according to claim 4, wherein the 6, further comprising a plurality of fasteners extending through said main housing, said date sheets, and said coded card securing said date sheets and said coded card in an adjusted position relative to each other and relative color, size, and'shape of saidcolored geometricindicia 5 to said main housing are of pre-sel'ected design visible through said date sheets behind said nurnerical indicia imprinted thereupon, whereby said schedule for said dates 'maybe identifiedr 6.
