Description
D. W. BARKER.
Domestic Oven.
Pate nted July 29, 1837.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID W. BARKER, or CLYDE, NEW YORK.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 304. aed July 29, 1837.
To all whom it Duty concern/.-
Be it known that 1, DAVID W. BARKER, of Clyde, in the county of \Vayne and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in the Manner of Constructing the Ovens of Stoves of Various Descriptions; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof.
The accompanying drawing represents a stove similar in form to such as have been heretofore constructed. and having my improved oven attached to it.
A A is a fire-place or chamber of combustion, made in the ordinary way, and having openings B B immediately above the fire. The oven part 0 stands back of and above the firechamber, a flue from which extends back under the oven, and at each end of the oven D D there are fiues which extend up into a flue above it, whence the smoke escapes through a pipe, E. The front and back of the oven are both inclosed by sliding or folding doors, there not being any flue either behind or in front. Dampers may be placed in the top flue to direct the draft up on either side, if required. There may be openings in the bottom of the oven to receive boilers, and having suitable covers to close them when not in use.
The only thing which I claim as new in the within-described oven is The particular manner in which it is connected to and combined with the fire-place of a stove-that is to say, standing above and behind the firebhamber, with a flue leading therefrom under it and up at each end only of the oven, which oven has doors at back and front in theiway described.
