(Cl. 189-3) This invention relates to the structure of a building and more particularly to a building that is so constructed that it may easily be changed from a closed wall building such as a granary or like, to a ventilated wall building auch as a corn crib or like, or as easily changed back from a ventilated wall building to a closed wall building.
In many situations and especially on farms, both closed and ventilated buildings are necessary. yIt is quite common to put the newly gathered ears of corn in a ventilated crib building for drying. After the corn has dried, it is shelled, but due to the small size of the kernels, it cannot be returned to the open crib building. Instead, lthe shelled corn must be closed in a closed building such as a granary. Obviously this procedure requires two sets of different type buildings.
Therefore one of the principal objects of my invention is to pro-vide a building that may easily and quickly be converted from an open ventilated type building to a closed type of building, or vice versa.
A further object of this invention is to provide a building that is easily and quickly assembled.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a metal structure building of great strength.
Still further objects of my invention are to provide a combination crib and granary building that is reiined in appearance, economical in manufacture, and durable in use.
These and other objects will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
My invention consists in the construction, arrangements, and combination, of the various parts of the device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained as hereinafter more fully set forth, specilically pointed out in my claim, land illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 2 is an enlarged inside sectional view of my building and more fully illustrates its construction;
FIG. 3 is an enlarged outside sectional view of my building; and
FIG. 4 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view of the wall of my building taken on line 4--4 of FIG. 3.
In these drawings I have used the numeral to designate any suitable base or platform for supporting the building. The building may be of any type, but I prefer that its wall be circular as shown in FIG. 1. The basic frame of the wall consists of a circular continuous row of spaced apart U-channel members. These U-channel members may be of steel, aluminum, plastic or like and because of their construction, each has a flat portion 11, a side yllange portion 12 extending from one edge thereof and a side ilange portion 13 extending from its other edge as shown in FIG. 2. The two side flange portions 12 and 13 extend at right angle to the center portion 11, and also in the same direction and parallel to each other. These U-channel members extend vertically in spaced relationship to form the side of the building and their side flanges 12 and 13 extend toward the interior of the building as shown in FIG. 4. I hold these U-channel members in place by encircling their arrangement with a plurality of spaced apart horizontal bands 15 and with bolts 16. Rivets or spot welding may be used in place of the bolts, but I prefer bolts inasmuch as they permit the easy assembling or disassembling of the building. Foot members 17 may be secured to the base 10 and the lowest of the bands to attach the unit tothe base 10 as shown in PIG. 1. The numeral 19 designates any suitable top on the building.
When the building is so erected it provides a strong, highly desirable Aventilated wall building such 4as a corn crib or like, The vertical spaces 20 between the U- channel members provide the ventilation areas. When it is desired to create an enclosed building such as `a grain bin or like, itis merely necessary to secure a reverse U- channel member 21 embracing each of the pairs of adjacent iianges 12 and 13 as shown in FIG. 2. The flange 12 will be of one U-channel member and the flange 13 of the adjacent U-channel member. These U-channel members 21 are at the inside of the building and their side anges extend outwardly relative to the building to overlap and embrace the lianges 12 and 13 of the main U- channel wall members. To hold these U-channel members 21 in place I use bolts 22 extending through them and the bands 15. When in place these detachable U- channel member-s 2i close the spaces 20, thus making a closed wall building. When it is again desired to use the building as a ventilated one, it is merely necessary to remove the U-channel members 21. The numeral 25 designates a door means -in the building top, and if desired, the building may have a side door.
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of my building without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim, any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents which may be reasonably included within their scope.
I claim:
A circular building suitable for use on farms and convertible from la closed-wall structure -to a structure having a plurality of elongated openings in the walls thereof extending from the base to the top of said walls, said building comprising a plurality of elongated vertical lirst U-channel members disposed with their side flanges directed toward the inside of said building; a plurality of horizontal bands engaging and secured to the outside base face of said rst U-channel members to maintain said rst U-channel members in vertically spaced apart parallel relation; a plurality of elongated vertical second U-channel members disposed in a position with their side anges directed toward the outside of said building and with their side flanges extending into adjacent overlapping abutting relation with the inside faces of two side anges of adjacent of said first U-channel members, said second U- channel members being substantially narrower than said lirst U-channel members; and fastening means cooperating directly with the base of said second U-channel members and said bands removably securing said second U-channel members in said position.
