No. 713,323 -10 claims. v(c1. 40-2) The principal object of this invention is to provide a combination booklet tag wherein the tag has a tag portion `and -a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, wherein a fastening wire-is secured at the other end of the tag portion so that the tag portion may be fastened thereby to a suitable object, wherein a booklet overlies the tagand is arranged Within the contines of the tag, wherein the booklet is .secured to the coupon portion of the tag so that it is removed from the tag when the coupon portion of the tag is detached from the tag portion of the tag, Vand Whereinvthe fastening Wire lis removably anchored in place along the tag and maintained within the com'ines of the tag to prevent dislocation of the fastening wire during handling of the combination booklet tag.

The combination booklet tags of this invention have particular utility when used as kguarantee tags, where the guarantee -tag portions are fastened to the object being guaranteed and where the coupon portion and informative booklet secured thereto are ,retained by the purchaser. They also have particular utility Where they are to be handled by automaticrnachinery, as for example, Where they are automatically suppliedinstripkform, such as from rolls of combination .booklet tags, to packaging machinery where it is desired to include tags with articles being packaged. Because .the .booklets `and fastening wires of the combination booklet tags of this invention are rmly secured `and anchored ,in place they may be readily Vhandled in strip form in automatic machinery, and also individually, without dislocation of the booklets and fastening wires.

-Further objects of the invention are directed to the details of construction of the combination booklet tags and to the cooperative relationship between the component parts thereof.

As shown more clearly in FIGS. 2 to 6, each tag 13 includes a tag portion 14 and a detachable coupon portion 15 at one end of the .tag portion 14. The two

14 and 15 `of the tag are detachably secured together by a line 16 `of perforations so .that the coupon portion 15 may be readily `detached `from the tag portion .14. The tags 13, which are arranged side by side in the strip, have their side edges interconnected as indicated at 17. Thus the various tags may be separated readily from the strip by tearing the connections 17 -Each combination booklet tag 13 is` provided at one end with a hole 19 reinforced by patches 2th adhesively secured to :the tag. A fastening wire 21 is extended through the hole 19 and is twisted together `as indicated at 22 for securing the fastening wire in the hole 19 at the end of the tag opposite from the line 16 of perforations. 'I'he wire 21 extends along one face of the tag 13 toward the coupon portion 15 thereof. The tag 13 is provided with an opening 23 in the form of a hole or slit and the wire 21 extends therethrough. Preferably the wire 21 is bent backwardly upon itself with the bent back portions also extending through the hole or slit 23. By so doing, the wire 21 is maintained Within the confines of the tag 13 even though the wire, when extended, should be longer than thel tag 13. Since the wire 21 extends through .the opening 23 it is firmly removably anchored in place along the tag 13 so that dislocation thereof during handling of the tag is prevented.

A booklet 25 overlies the coupon portion 15 of the tag and at least a part of the tagrpor-tion 14 of the tag, the booklet 25 being arranged within the connes of the ltag 13. The booklet 25 is secured to the coupon portion 1,5 of the tag in any `desired. manner as` for example, by a staple 26. Preferably the booklet 25 lies along the face of .the tag 13 which is opposite from the face along which the fastening wire 21 extends. This provides free access yto the fastening wire 2l. The tag portion 14 of the tag is preferably provided with slits 27 adjacent the reinforced hole 19 to form a pair of tabs 27. The free end of .the booklet 25 is received under the tabs 27 for the purpose of removably anchoring the free end of the booklet in place on the tag portion 14.

Another form of the combination booklet tag of this invention is illustrated -in FIGS. 7, 8 and 9 and here also the same tag 13 having the tag portion 14 and the coupon portion 15 and the same booklet 25 are utilized. Like reference characters have been utilized for like parts. In this form of the invention the booklet 25 is folded over and is secured, `as by a staple 32, to the coupon portion 15 of the tag. The coupon portion 15 is then folded Valong the line of perforations 16 so as to overlie a portion of the tag portion 14. ln the folded position the booklet 25 is preferably arranged between the tag portion 14 and the coupon port-ion 15. The Itag 13 is provided with `a hole 33 at the line 16 of perforations and when the coupon portion 15 is folded `against the tag portion 14 the hole 33 forms a notch as illustrated in FIGS. 7 and .8. The fastening wire 21 extends along one face of the tag 13, extends through the notch V33 .and is bent back along the other face of the tag. In this way the fastening Wire 21 :is 4removably anchored in place along the tag. Preferably the fastening wire 21 extends over the booklet 25 `and the coupon portion 15 as it extends toward the notch 33. Thus the fastening wire 21 operates to hold the coupon portion 15 in place when it is folded vrand to removably anchor the booklet 25.

In both forms ofthe invention the booklet 25 is secured -to the coupon portion 15 of the tag and the same are readily detachable from the tag portion 14 of the 3 v tag. The tag portion 14 of the tag may be readily fastened by the fastening Wire 21 to any desired object.

While for purposes of illustration, two forms of this f invention have been disclosed, other forms thereof may become apparent to those skilled in the art upon reference to this disclosure and, therefore, this invention -is to be limited only by the scope of the appended claims.

We claim as our invention:

l. A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, a fastening wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of the p tag portion of the tag, and means for removably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag and for Securing the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag.

2. A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, a fastening wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along one face of the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of said one face of the tag portion of the tag and arranged beneath the fastening wire, and means for removably anchoring the fasteningwire in place along the tag and for securing the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag.

A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion Vat one end of the tag portion, a fastening Wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, said coupon por-I tion of the tag being folded back over a part of the tag portion of the tag, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of the tag portion of the tag, and means for removably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag and for securing the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag, said fastening wire overlying said folded over coupon portion of the tag to removably hold the same together with the booklet carried thereby upon the tag portion of the tag. A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, a fastening wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of the tag portion of the tag, and securing means for securing the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag, said tag having an opening therein through which the fastening wire extends for removably anchoring the fastening Wire in place along the tag. A combination booklet tag comprising la tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, a fastening wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of the tag portion of the tag, and securing means for securing v 4 the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag, said tag having -an opening therein at the juncture of the tag portion and coupon portion of the tag through which the fastening wire extends for removably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag.

A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having a tag portion and a detachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, -a fastening Wire secured at the other end of the tag portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, said coupon portion yof the tag being folded back over a part of the tag portion of the tag, abooklet overlying the coupon portion Y of the tag and at least a part of the tag portion of the tag,

A combination booklet tag comprising a tag having l a tag portion and axdetachable coupon portion at one end of the tag portion, a fastening wire secured at the other end of the tagY portion of the tag and extending along the tag toward the coupon portion thereof, said coupon Y portion of the tag extending beyond said one end of the tag portion of the tag, a booklet overlying the coupon portion of the tag and at least a part of the tag portion ofthe tag, tab means'formed in the tag portion adjacent said other encl thereof and removably receiving the booklet, and means for removably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag and for securing the booklet to the coupon portion of the tag.

9. A combination booklet tag comprising a tag, a fastening wire secured at one end of the tag and extending along the tag toward the other end thereof, a booklet overlying at least a part of the tag, and means for re- Y movably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag and lfor securing the booklet to the tag.

10. A combination booklet tag comprising a tag, a fastening wire secured at one end of the tag and extending along the tag toward the other end thereof, a booklet overlying at least a part of the tag, and securing means for securing the booklet to the tag, said tag having an opening therein through which the fastening Wire extends for removably anchoring the fastening wire in place along the tag.
