1 Claim. (Cl. 46-44) This invention relates to a toy.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a toy which when air is blown thereinto will cause a ball-like member to be actuated to move in the air in relation to the toy and which may be simultaneously operated to produce a sound.
Another object of this invention is to provide a very simple and inexpensive toy having great play value.
Other objects will become apparent as this description progresses.

Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 44 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings, the toy comprises a tubular body member provided exteriorly thereof and preferably at the lower end thereof with a plurality of spaced fin-shaped members 12 upon which same may be vertically supported on a supporting surface if so desired. Adjacent the lower end of the tubular body member 10 there is provided an end wall 14 which closes the bottom end of said tubular member. The wall 14 has a central opening 16 within which is secured a sound member generally indicated at 18, of any well-known construction. The sound member shown therein comprises a concave shaped elongated portion 20 provided with a ring portion 21 at the bottom thereof. The ring portion of said sound member is fixedly secured in said opening 16 of the wall 14. The sound member also includes a thin metal diaphragm 22 which rests against the elongated member 20 and is adapted to be actuated by the air within the tubular body member 10, as will be well understood.
The tubular body member 10 is provided with a transverse opening 24 within which is fixedly secured a short tubular stem 26 which communicates with the interior of the tubular body member 10.
A mouthpiece generally indicated by the numeral 28 which comprises a tubular member is adapted to be frictionally secured on the tubular stem 26. The opposite or free end of the mouthpiece is adapted to be ice The upper end of the cap member 30 has a reduced neck 36 provided with a central opening 38.
Integrally formed with the cap member 30 and extending angularly outward of the neck are a plurality of spaced finger-like members 40 connected at their top by a circular or ring-like member 42 which forms a cagelike member generally indicated at 43. The cage-like member 43 forms a seat orreceptacle for receiving the ball member generally indicated at 44, which may be formed of a light weight material such as Styrofoam.
A plurality of spaced fins 46 are formed on the tubular body 10 adjacent the upper end thereof.
The play value of the toy consists of blowig air through the mouthpiece 28 into the tubular body member 10, most of the air moving upwardly through the tubular body and through the cap opening 38 to cause the ball 44 seated in the cage-like member 43 to move upwardly of the cage 43 and to continue to move in the air above the cage member as though floating in the air. Simultaneously some of the air blown into the tubular body member 10 will move downwardly to activate the sound member 18 for the purpose of producing a sound. By applying the finger to the opening 16 adjacent the sound member the sound may be interrupted as desired. Thus, simultaneously by the blowing of this toy the ball is caused to be actuated to move in the air in spaced relation to the top of the toy while a sound is produced. This provides a very entertaining and highly amusing toy for the child.
For the purposes of packaging the toy, the mouthpiece 28 may be detached from the tubular stem 26 and the cap 30 may be disengaged from the tubular body 10 so that both the mouthpiece 28 and the ball 44 may be positioned inside said tubular body member 10. The cap 30 is then attached to the tubular body 10, as shown in Figure 2. This permits the packaging of the toy without taking up an undue amount of space.
It will be understood that various changes and modifications may be made from the following without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A toy comprising a single elongated upright tubular body having fins at the lower end whereby said body may be supported in an upright position, a cap member frictionally secured to the top of the tubular body, said cap having a restricted opening at the upper end thereof, a mouthpiece communicating with said tubular body for blowing air thereinto and extending at right angles to said tubular body, a cage-like ball supporting member of inverted cone shape adjacent the top of said cap memher and directly above said restricted opening, said cagelike ball supporting member being in communication with the interior of said body, a ball adapted to be supported in said cage-like ball supporting member directly above said restricted opening, a sound member operatively connected with said tubular body, said ball and said sound member adapted to be actuated simultaneously upon the blowing of air into said tubular member so that said ball member will float free around said cagelike ball supporting member.
