Filed June 20, 1958, Ser. No. 743,427
1 Claim. (Cl. 211-1) This invention relates to a display rack, particularly for the display of post cards, as well as small books, pamphlets, and the like.
An object of my invention is to provide a novel multiangularly shaped display rack, including a means of effectively supporting the perforated panel boards which form the sides of the rack.
Still another object of my invention is to provide a novel display rack which is formed with protecting angles at the corners thereof, the angles protruding beyond the surface of the sides of the display rack for the purpose Of protecting the material which is displayed on the side faces of the rack.
Another object is to provide a novel display rack which is rigid in construction, simple, and inexpensive to manufacture, and which will effectively hold and display articles thereon.
Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claim.
In the drawing:
Figure l is a perspective view of my display rack with parts broken away to show interior construction.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of my display rack with part of the perforated panel board broken away to show interior construction.
Figure 3 is a plan view as viewed from line 33 of Figure 2.
Referring more particularly tothe drawing, my display rack 1 includes a pair of vertically spaced heads or ends 2 and 3. These heads are arranged parallel to each other and are preferably square, although other shapes may be employed if desired. The heads 2 and 3 are each provided with a central hole 4 and 5, respectively, through which a rod or shaft extends for the purpose of supporting and, if desired, rotatably mounting the display rack. A vertical strap 6 is provided at each of the four corners of the heads 2 and 3, and these straps extend vertically between the heads. The straps are fixedly attached at each end to the heads 2 and 3 by means of suitable nails, screws, bolts, or the like. These straps form a part of the frame structure of the display rack and also serve to support the perforated panel board sides of the display Patented Dec. 6, 1960 ice rack, as will be further described. At each corner of the heads 2 and 3 I also provide protective angles 7, which also extend between the heads 2 and 3 and are fixedly attached to each of these heads by suitable means, such as nails, screws, bolts, and the like. The angles 7 are each placed adjacent one of the straps 6, substantially as shown, and also one leg 8 of each angle is secured to the heads 2 and 3, and also this same leg projects beyond the edge of the heads 2 and 3 as shown. A perforated panel board 9 encloses each side of the display rack 1 and these perforated panel boards extend between the heads 2 and 3 and also between adjacent protective angles 7, thus completely enclosing the sides of the display rack. The perforated panel board sides 9 overlie the leg 8 of the angle 7 and thus the perforated panel board projects somewhat beyond one edge of the heads 23, thereby providing additional space in which material may be placed for display purposes. The angles 7 protect these projecting edges of the perforated panel boards 9, and also prevent customers from brushing against other material displayed on the surface of each perforated panel board. It will also be noted that the perforated panel board 9 overlies one leg 8 of an angle 7, and the similar leg of the adjacent angle also projects beyond the face of the perforated panel board to protect and guard material which is placed thereon. Suitable wire supports 10 are fitted in the perforated panel board 9 for the purpose of supporting cards, pamphlets, booklets, and the like. The perforated panel boards 9 are secured at each end to the heads 2 and 3 suitable means, such as screws, nails, bolts, or the like.
Having described my invention, I claim:
A display rack comprising a pair of spaced angularly shaped heads, each of said heads being substantially square in shape, a plurality of side panels extending between said heads, said panels being formed of perforated panel board, said panels being attached to each of the edges of the heads, a plurality of straps extending between said heads and secured thereto, said straps extending between each of the edges of said heads, a plurality of angles extending between said heads and secured thereto, each of said angles being positioned at a corner of each head, said angles extending between each of the sides of the heads, one leg of each angle projecting beyond one corner of said heads, the other leg of each angle being substantially spaced from and parallel to one edge of said heads, one edge of each panel projecting beyond one corner of said heads and over one leg of an angle.
