Be it known that I, J OSEPH L. ADDISON, o Quaker City, in the'county of Guernsey and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Sheep-Shearing Table, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention consists of a bench on which is a revolving seat, whereon the sheep is to be seated on his haunches, and above the seat is a shoulder, neck, and head-rest with suitable straps for securing the. sheep by the neck, so that it may be suitably placed for shearing, and the fleece will'fall on the bench, the sheep being so confined that the shearer may employ both hands in the work of shearing, and is relieved of all labor of holding and handling the sheep, except to place it on the bench and take it oif and to turn it for shifting its position as the progress of the work requires, all as hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts' in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved sheep-shearing table, and Fig.2 is a detail of the neck-holding device in sect-ion.

On a bench, a, of suitable height and size, I arrange the revolving seat I), near one end, by a pivot, c, on which it may revolve readily, and above the seat a suitable distance, and a little off the vertical center of the seat inthe lengthwise direction of the bench, I'arrange a shoulder, neck, and head-rest, consisting of the curved horizontal bar (1, adapted to bear against the breast or the shoulders of the sheep, the upwardly-curved parallel bars 6, the cross-straps fg, connecting said bars 0, and

The sheep is set up on its haunches on the seat b, with its shoulders against the rest d, and is secured by the strap h, fastened around the neck. The shearer then proceeds to shear off the fleece, beginning along the belly. NVhen sufficiently advanced, he unfastens the neck and turns the sheep half-way round, so that the fleece falling from the sheep will drop onto the bench. The curved rod 1) forms a rest for the hind legs of the sheep when turned around to this position, and carries the legs over the beam 1;.

Part of the top of the bench may be hinged to the other part, for folding over thereon, to facilitate the carrying and storing away of the bench when required. The neck-strap it has two snap-hooks, w and w, for fastening it, 10 being to fasten the strap when the neck is large, and w for fastening it when of smaller size, the neckbeing inclined over and resting on the strapsf g.-

It will be seen that with this improved table the operator can shear the sheep better and with less labor, and the fleece will be taken off in better condition, than when the work is done in the ordinary way.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

- 1. In a sheep-shearing table, the combination, with the bench-a and the revolving seat I), of the breastsupport (I, provided with the vertically-curved bars 0, the cross straps f g, 5 and the neck-strap h, the said support being vertically and horizontally adjustable, substantially as herein shown and described.

2. In a sheep-shearing table, the combination, with the bench a, provided with the 100 beam '0, the revolving seat b, and the curved standard i, of the breast-support d, having the curved arms 0, provided with supporting and fastening st-rapsf g h, and vertically and horizontally adjustably connected to said arni, substantially as herein shown and described.
