SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 292,388, dated J'anuarvQQ, 1884.- I Application filed December 12, 1883. (ModeL) To aZZ w/wm it mag concern Be it known thatI, WILTON TRIGG, of Cairo, in the county of Alexander, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Beading and Molding Attachments for Planing-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a View inelevation of a rotary cylinder-planer with my beading attachment applied thereto; Fig. 2, a detail view of the attachment removed, and Fig. 3 a crosssection on line an ac of Fig. 1.
The object of my invention is to provide an improvement in beading and molding attachments for planers; and to this end it consists in the attachment as hereinafter described, and
more specifically set forth in the claims.
In the drawings, A designates the cylinder of a rotary planer. To this are attached the cutters or knives B B, slotted at O G, and adjustably held in place on the cylinder by means of set-screws D D, extending through these slots. In the drawings andmodel these setscrews are shown as provided with washers E E between their heads and thesurface of the knife; but such washers are of course not necessary. s I
As is usual in cylinder-planers, the portions of the cylinder between the parts to which the knives are directly attached are cut away or reduced insize, as shown, so that a longitudt nal groove, F, is formed in said cylinder "between the knives. I contemplate using a series of these beading attachments on the same cylinder,but prefer to have each attachment in a different groove in the cylinder, and acting directly with a different knife, as indicated in the drawings. The shape of the operative end of the attachment,which projects beyond the edge of the knife, is of course to beef any form desired to'make any particular shape of molding'or beading,

In combination with the cutter of a planer, a beading or molding attachment fastened upon the surface of the planer in front of the cutter, and atits operative end bent up, so as to rest against the under face of the latter and be supported thereby, substantially as and for the purpose described.
3. In combination with a planer, a heading attachment adj ustably fastened upon the planer. in front of a knife, and at its operative end supported by the under face of the knife, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

In combination with the planer-cylinder, the beading attachment adj ustably fastened to the cylinder in front of one of the knives by means of a set-screw passing through a slot in its attaching portion, and supported at or near its operative end by the knife, substantially as shown and described.
